Chapter 32 - remember what i like

Yuna:

Morning sunlight slowly slipped through the curtains.

The soft golden light filled Ethan's room.

Yuna's eyes slowly opened.

For a moment she forgot where she was.

Then she felt the warmth of a hand in hers and suddenly remembered everything from the night before.

Her gaze moved toward the bed.

Ethan was awake.

He was leaning slightly against the headboard, watching her quietly.

"You're awake," he said in a calm voice.

Yuna quickly sat up, her hair slightly messy from sleep.

"How are you feeling?" she asked immediately, worry filling her eyes.

Ethan looked at his bandaged shoulder.

"Better."

"You shouldn't move too much," she said as she stood up quickly. "Your wound—"

"I'm not dying, Yuna."

She frowned at him.

"That's not funny."

Ethan didn't reply, but something in his expression softened slightly seeing how worried she looked.

Yuna stepped closer and carefully checked his bandage.

"Does it hurt?" she asked.

"A little."

She nodded thoughtfully.

"That means it's healing."

After a moment she stepped back.

"You should rest. I'll bring breakfast."

Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"You're cooking?"

"Yes."

"Since when?"

Yuna crossed her arms.

"I used to cook."

"That was a long time ago."

Her lips curved into a small smile.

"Exactly six years ago."

Ethan paused.

Six years.

He remembered.

Back then they were younger. The house wasn't filled with danger yet, and Yuna had once insisted on cooking something for him.

He had eaten it quietly.

But he still remembered the taste.

"…You remember that?" he asked.

"Of course," she said softly.

"You said you liked it."

Ethan didn't confirm or deny it.

But he didn't stop her either.

Yuna walked toward the door.

"Rest. I'll be back soon."

Downstairs, the house was still quiet.

Luca hadn't come down yet.

Yuna walked straight into the large kitchen where several chefs were already preparing breakfast.

She smiled politely.

"You all can go now."

The chefs looked surprised.

"Miss Yuna?"

"I'll cook today."

"But—"

"It's fine," she said gently.

After a few moments, they nodded and left the kitchen.

Soon the large space became quiet.

Yuna tied an apron around her waist and started preparing the ingredients.

Eggs.

Rice.

Vegetables.

And a light soup.

She remembered exactly what Ethan liked.

He never liked heavy food in the morning.

Six years ago, he had quietly finished the entire plate she made.

Even though Luca complained that it was too simple.

Yuna smiled faintly at the memory.

As she cooked, the smell of warm food slowly filled the kitchen.

After a while, Luca walked in.

He stopped immediately.

"You're cooking?"

Yuna looked up.

"Good morning."

Luca leaned against the counter, crossing his arms.

"You kicked the chefs out?"

"Yes."

"For Ethan?" he asked bluntly.

Yuna didn't answer directly.

"I'm making breakfast."

Luca watched her for a moment, then sighed.

"You're really serious about him."

Yuna quietly placed the food onto three plates.

"I always was."

Luca didn't say anything after that.

A few minutes later—

Footsteps were heard behind them.

Ethan slowly walked into the kitchen.

He was wearing a simple black shirt now, his hair slightly messy.

Yuna immediately noticed him.

"You shouldn't be walking already," she said quickly.

Ethan ignored the comment.

His eyes moved to the table.

Three plates of food were already prepared.

Then his gaze shifted to Yuna.

"You made all this?"

She nodded.

"For the three of us."

Ethan stepped closer to the table.

The smell was familiar.

Very familiar.

He looked at the food quietly for a moment.

Then at Yuna.

"You still remember what I like."

Yuna smiled softly.

"Of course."

Ethan didn't say anything more.

But when he sat down and took the first bite…

For a brief second, something warm passed through his expression.

And Yuna noticed it immediately.
