"A murderer, a prick, and a man soon to be married…"
I startled, sitting up straight on the bed. My eyes snapped to the door.
Kairos leaned against the frame, his gaze drifting lazily around the room before settling on me.
"What other words do you have in your vocabulary for me, sweetheart?" he asked, pushing himself off the door and stopping in the middle of the room.
"I'm not your sweetheart," I muttered under my breath, even as I wondered what he was doing here. Shouldn't he be in his office… with Lily?
Kairos slipped a hand into the pocket of his joggers. My throat tightened slightly as my gaze dropped for a split second before I forced it back up to his face.
"What do you want?" I asked, folding my arms across my chest.
I nudged the contract on the bed with my hip and noticed his eyes flick toward it.
Instead of answering, he walked closer, closing the distance between us. He stopped beside the bed, picked up the document, and flipped through it casually.
