Chapter 3 - Chapter 3. Stonecrest gym

The forest path slowly opened into a wide valley. In the distance, tall stone buildings shimmered under the afternoon sun.

"We made it…" Mira whispered.

Ahead stood Stonecrest City — the first major town of the Luminara region. Built between rocky cliffs, the city was known for its ancient stone structures and its powerful Gym Leader.

Elior's heart pounded. "This is it. My first Gym battle."

Pyrolyn's tail flame burned brighter, as if sharing his excitement.

As they entered the city, trainers filled the streets. Some were battling near fountains. Others trained their Pokémon near the rocky cliffs.

Mira crossed her arms. "The Gym Leader here specializes in Rock-type Pokémon. You know what that means."

Elior nodded. Rock-types were strong against Fire-types.

Pyrolyn looked up at him.

Elior knelt down. "It won't be easy… but I believe in you."

Stonecrest Gym

The Gym was carved directly into the mountainside. Massive stone doors slowly opened as Elior stepped inside.

A deep voice echoed through the chamber.

"Welcome, challenger."

From atop a raised battlefield stood Gym Leader Darius, a tall man with ash-gray hair and a rugged coat dusted with stone powder.

"Strength alone does not win battles," Darius said calmly. "Only those with faith in their Pokémon can endure."

Mira watched from the sidelines.

"Battle format: Two Pokémon each," Darius declared.

Elior swallowed. "Let's do this."

Battle Start!

Darius sent out Gravorn, a massive Rock-type Pokémon with boulder-like arms.

Elior clenched his fist. "Pyrolyn, I choose you!"

The battle began instantly.

"Gravorn, Rock Throw!"

Huge stones launched toward Pyrolyn.

"Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Elior shouted.

Pyrolyn leapt between falling rocks, flames trailing behind it, striking Gravorn directly. The impact echoed through the Gym.

But Gravorn barely moved.

"Now, Smack Down!" Darius commanded.

A powerful shockwave sent Pyrolyn sliding backward across the battlefield.

Elior's heart raced. Fire wasn't enough.

He closed his eyes for a second.

Faith… not just power.

"Pyrolyn," he whispered, "trust me. Use Ember—but aim at the ground!"

Pyrolyn released flames at the battlefield floor, creating smoke and dust that clouded Gravorn's vision.

"Now! Full Quick Attack!"

Through the smoke, Pyrolyn struck Gravorn repeatedly before it could react.

With a final burst of flames, Gravorn collapsed.

Silence filled the Gym.

Darius nodded slowly. "Impressive."

It's Final Pokémon showdown now. Terragron I choose you.

******

Darius released his second Pokémon: Terragron, a towering stone beast with glowing crystal eyes.

The ground trembled.

Elior tightened his grip on his Poké Ball.

"Pyrolyn… can you keep going?"

Pyrolyn stood up, flames burning stronger than ever.

The battle wasn't just about type advantage.

It was about belief.

And Elior was ready to prove it.

And the journey continues....
