Chapter 9 - Chapter 9. Stonecrest badge

The battlefield trembled as Terragron stepped forward.

Its crystal eyes glowed brighter than before, filled with ancient strength. The air itself felt heavy.

Across from it, Voltiger stood firm, electricity dancing across its body.

Elior clenched his fist.

This wasn't the same battle as before.

This time, he wouldn't hesitate.

"Voltiger," he said calmly, "Thunder Rush."

Voltiger launched forward like pure lightning.

Fast.

Precise.

Powerful.

It struck Terragron directly in the chest.

BOOM!

A shockwave exploded across the battlefield.

Smoke filled the air.

For a moment—

Nothing moved.

Then the smoke cleared.

Terragron was still standing.

It hadn't fallen.

Not even close.

Darius spoke calmly.

"Terragron, Crystal Quake."

Terragron raised both arms and slammed them into the ground.

The battlefield shattered.

Crystals erupted upward beneath Voltiger.

Voltiger tried to dodge—

But the attack was too wide.

CRASH!

Voltiger was thrown violently across the field.

"Voltiger!" Elior shouted.

Voltiger hit the ground hard, sliding across the stone floor.

It struggled.

But stood again.

Barely.

Elior's heart pounded.

Voltiger was injured badly.

But Voltiger looked back at him.

Still ready.

Still believing.

Elior nodded.

"Again. Thunder Strike!"

Voltiger gathered electricity into a single devastating attack.

Lightning exploded outward as Voltiger charged forward.

Terragron didn't move.

"Stone Crash," Darius said.

Terragron's arm came down like a falling mountain.

Voltiger struck at the same moment.

Lightning and stone collided.

BOOM!

A massive explosion shook the entire Gym.

The force pushed Elior back.

When the dust cleared—

Voltiger stood frozen.

Electricity flickering weakly.

Terragron remained standing.

Strong.

Unshaken.

Voltiger's legs trembled.

Its sparks faded.

And slowly—

Voltiger collapsed.

Silence filled the Gym.

Elior froze.

"No…"

Voltiger lay still.

It couldn't continue.

The referee raised his hand.

"Voltiger is unable to battle."

Elior's chest tightened.

Voltiger had given everything.

Its speed.

Its strength.

Its trust.

And still—

It wasn't enough.

Elior returned Voltiger gently.

"You did amazing," he whispered.

He held the Poké Ball tightly.

"You were incredible."

He looked up at Terragron.

It stood like an immovable mountain.

Unstoppable.

But Elior wasn't done.

Not yet.

He reached for his second Poké Ball.

His first partner.

The one who had been with him since the beginning.

"Pyrolyn," he said softly, "it's our turn."

The Poké Ball opened.

Pyrolyn emerged.

Its flame burned brighter than ever before.

Not wild.

Not afraid.

Determined.

Darius watched carefully.

"This will decide everything," he said.

Elior stepped forward.

His voice was calm.

Filled with faith.

"Pyrolyn…"

"Let's win."

Terragron's crystals began to glow again.

Pyrolyn stood alone against Terragron.

The massive Rock titan stared down at the small Fire Pokémon.

From the sidelines, Mira held her breath.

Voltiger had fallen.

Everything now depended on Pyrolyn.

Elior knelt slightly, his voice calm.

"Pyrolyn… I trust you."

Pyrolyn's flame burned brighter.

Not wildly.

Steadily.

Confidently.

Darius raised his hand.

"Terragron, Crystal Quake."

Terragron slammed its arms into the ground.

Crystals erupted upward like spears.

"Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Elior commanded.

Pyrolyn moved instantly.

Faster than before.

It weaved between the crystal spikes and struck Terragron's leg.

Terragron staggered slightly.

But countered immediately.

"Stone Crash."

Its massive arm came down.

Pyrolyn barely jumped away.

The ground exploded beneath it.

Pyrolyn landed hard.

It was tiring.

Elior clenched his fists.

Fire alone wasn't enough.

Speed alone wasn't enough.

He closed his eyes for a moment.

Then remembered everything.

Their training.

Their loss.

Their promise.

He opened his eyes.

"Pyrolyn," he said softly, "use Flame Wheel."

Pyrolyn rolled forward, surrounded by fire.

It struck Terragron directly.

Terragron endured it.

But this time—

It stepped back.

Darius noticed.

Pyrolyn had grown stronger.

But Terragron was still overwhelming.

"End this," Darius commanded.

"Crystal Slam."

Terragron lunged forward with unstoppable force.

Mira gasped. "Elior!"

Elior didn't panic.

He didn't shout.

He spoke calmly.

"Pyrolyn… trust yourself."

Pyrolyn looked at him.

Their eyes met.

And in that moment—

Something awakened.

Pyrolyn's flame exploded outward.

Not normal fire.

Golden fire.

Warm.

Powerful.

Alive.

Darius's eyes widened.

"What is this…?"

Elior felt it.

The same energy from the forest.

The same resonance.

"Now," Elior said.

"Blaze Burst!"

Pyrolyn released all its power at once.

Golden flames engulfed its entire body.

It charged forward fearlessly.

Terragron attacked at the same moment.

Stone and flame collided.

BOOM!!!

A massive explosion filled the Gym.

The entire battlefield shook.

Smoke covered everything.

No one could see.

No one moved.

Seconds passed.

Then—

The smoke slowly cleared.

Pyrolyn stood.

Breathing heavily.

But standing.

Terragron stood motionless.

Cracks spread across its crystal body.

Then—

Terragron collapsed.

The sound echoed through the Gym.

Silence.

Absolute silence.

The referee raised his hand.

"Terragron is unable to battle!"

He paused.

Then declared:

"The winner is Elior! Victory goes to the challenger!"

Elior froze.

He couldn't believe it.

He had done it.

Pyrolyn turned toward him.

Its flame flickered gently.

Elior ran forward and knelt beside it.

"You did it," he whispered.

Pyrolyn smiled weakly.

Darius stepped forward slowly.

His expression calm.

But respectful.

"You have grown," Darius said.

He reached into his coat and pulled out a badge.

A stone-shaped emblem, carved with ancient symbols.

"The Stonecrest Badge."

He handed it to Elior.

"You have earned this."

Elior took it with trembling hands.

His first Gym Badge.

Proof of his growth.

Proof of his faith.

Mira smiled from behind.

Pyrolyn looked up proudly.

Voltiger's Poké Ball shook slightly at Elior's belt, as if celebrating too.

Darius spoke one final time.

"This is only the beginning of your path."

Elior nodded.

He knew that.

Team Umbra still existed.

The Legendary Pokémon still watched.

Stronger challenges awaited.

But now—

He was ready.

He raised the Stonecrest Badge toward the light.

"Thank you," he said softly.

Not just to Darius.

Not just to Pyrolyn.

But to the journey itself.

And the journey continues.....
