Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Special unit

The last thing he remembered was getting punched in the gut.

And by the time he opened his eyes once more he was already watching the fight between Dan and his colleague.

The lieutenant Leo fought had a hard time getting up, he was supported by his colleague's arm as he watched Dan's fight.

His opponent was a lady that looked even more muscular than most men, she had long blonde packed up hair and blue eyes.

"I'm Dan" Dan bowed to his opponent, with his two palms together as if praying.

"I have no malice against you, but I'll refrain from speaking my name" She replied.

"Ready?" The officiator seemed verification.

Both nodded.

"Fight!" He commenced the match.

At the moment he said this, Dan did something strange.

He swung his hand backwards, then sprung it forward; it was a throw motion.

His opponent paused, she checked around if he had thrown anything.

There was nothing, no sign of even a feather.

"My bad.

It's force of habit." Dan grinned.

His opponent was perplexed, but she didn't even have time for that as he launched straight at her.

He threw a punch to the right of her lower stomach, she dodged it even going for a punch of her own.

He didn't dodge, he mitigated the damage by using his palms to block and pulling them backwards immediately it connected.

"Don't obstruct the force, just flow with it." was the thought that went through Dan's mind.

Any direction she punched, he took while adapting to its direction and dampening its momentum, hit after hit.

!

Then she gave him a low kick.

[Ohhhhh!] The crowd went mad at his display of skill.

He locked her leg in between his ankle joint, and spinned around following the direction she was kicking from, dragging her leg with him as well as her.

"What level of skill is this" She thought to herself, she looked at his face.

?

He was grinning.

She got desperate, throwing whatever she had at him, hooks, uppercuts, low blows, jabs.

He would just follow their direction and mitigate, sometimes even dissipating them with his absurd techniques.

It went on for minutes, many more minutes, she was sweating getting all tired on top of being worked up, then looked at him with his expression that hand never changed from a grin.

"What is more disrespectful, the fact that he refuses to attack,...

Or the fact that…" She threw one more frustrated punch.

"Open your eyes goddammit!" She yelled at him.

Even at that he didn't, she attacked yet he countered in the most serene way possible, not even breaking a sweat.

After many more minutes of what felt like attacking air; She just stopped.

She cleaned the sweat of her face whilst breathing heavily, she turned around and walked towards the edge of the platform.

Forfeiting by leaving its bounds.

The crowd went wild, applauses erupted at Dan's level of control.

The officiator held up his hands and declared him the winner.

As he walked into the midst of his teammates, Karius ruffled his hair.

"What a show off" He said to his friend.

Leo was carried away by Dan's display, Zefroth and Fiona stood beside him.

"You taken aback, was it really that amazing?" Fiona asked Leo, while looking at the platform.

"Yeah it was be-" Leo was about to answer.

"Beautiful, Again?" She teased.

"Breathtaking is what I meant to say." He lied with a straight face on.

"Oh really, breathtaking with a 'be' " She teased once more this time with a smile.

"Tch…I pronounce mine as 'Be-reath' " Leo emphasized.

"Alright then, I wonder what you'll say at my own display." She stretched.

Fate had its own humour, and it showed itself that day.

"Oh!

The remainder of the lieutenants have all forfeited.

The special squad wins by default!" The officiator's eccentric voice echoed through the atmosphere.

The crowd cheered.

The commanders faces became shriveled; riddled in the look of doubt by the sheer absurdity of the outcome.

"How did this happen, what are those kids made of!

Heimer must have done something to them, has he been training them since their very birth?

Something isn't adding up!" Milsted thought, he was angered.

"(Forfeited…)" The words lingered on in Fiona's mind.

"Pfft, display." Leo finally got one in.

She sighed.

"I'll let you have this one." She had a very faint smirk.

"Did she just…that's new…" Leo thought to himself, but he couldn't be left with his thoughts.

His arm was grabbed by another, that of Caesar.

"Come on, it's time to be instated." Caesar's look was bright and confident as always.

All the special cadets got on the platform, with Cera climbing up last.

He walked down from the podium, with his usual domineering presence, those who followed weren't ones to be overlooked either.

The officiator who was also a commander joined in with themz standing right beside Heimer.

[Thump Thump!] Leo's heart beat was hard as he stood in front of these many people.

{The only saving grace was me not being the centre of attention.

I'm afraid I haven't overcome it yet…}

They all knelt on one knee, paying their respects to the ones above them.

One by one, commander Lana placed a golden medal on their neck, while milsted put a book in front of them, they each had to place their hand on the book and take the oath.

"And with that I'm going to be putting this special unit under my command.

I am open to opposition" Heimer asked.

Even at that no one said a word.

"Now, you all hold ranks with as much authority as the lieutenants, your titles are hereby;

Special officer Paul.

Special officer Saul.

Special officer Herra.

Special officer Clarence.

Special officer Rud.

Special officer Laura.

Special officer Caesar.

Special officer Zefroth.

Special officer Karius.

Special officer Fiona.

Special officer Leo.

Special officer Dan.

Special officer Cera.

Carry out your duties diligently" The voice of Heimer rippled through the atmosphere.

"Sir!" They answered in unison.

They could now set their sight on their main objective, the long awaited expedition to the commandment numbered thirteen.
