Cheese got to his feet despite his broken leg, positioning himself between me and the Lycans with a snarl that rattled through his chest. His injured leg trembled beneath him, but he didn't back down.
"No," I tried to rasp but failed, my hands moving frantically. I grabbed Cheese's scruff, pulling him back, shaking my head desperately. "Stay. Heal."
He whined, looking between me and the Lycans, his body vibrating with the need to protect me.
Kaleb's hand shot out and grabbed my arm, hauling me to my feet. Cheese lunged forward with a yelp, but Kaleb kicked him aside. Cheese hit the wall with a sickening thud and collapsed, whimpering.
I struggled against Kaleb's grip, trying to reach Cheese, but Rafayel blocked my path.
"Sonya's vomiting blood," Kaleb snarled in my face. "You're going to tell us what you used."
I shook my head violently, my hands fumbling to sign that I didn'tā
"Save it," Rafayel said, grabbing my other arm.
