Chapter 37 - The Blood of the First Flame

The chamber trembled as the Shadow King slowly descended to the ground.

Darkness spread beneath his feet like living smoke.

Across from him stood three figures.

A wounded dragon.

A tired warrior.

And a young woman holding a sword of light.

The Shadow King studied them with calm curiosity.

"So," he said softly.

"The world sends a dragon… a human… and a child to stop me."

Rowan frowned."Hey," he said.

"I'm at least a moderately impressive human."

Aria ignored him.

Her eyes were fixed on the creature.

"Who are you?" she demanded.

The creature tilted its head slightly.

"You truly do not know?"

The dragon stepped forward with a low growl.

"You are Nocthar," the dragon said.

"The King of the Shadow Realm."

The creature smiled slowly."Ah… someone remembers."

Rowan whispered,

"That name sounds extremely bad."

Nocthar's red eyes turned toward the dragon.

"And you…" he said.

"Last of the Flame Guardians."

The dragon's wings spread wider.

"You were sealed once."

Nocthar laughed quietly.

"Yes."

"By dragons… and a human."His eyes slowly moved toward Aria.

"And the blood of that human still lives."

Aria froze.

"What?"

The dragon suddenly looked at her.

Its golden eyes filled with realization.

"Aria…"

She turned toward it.

"What?"

The dragon lowered its massive head closer.

"I understand now."

Aria shook her head."Understand what?"

The dragon's voice became softer inside her mind.

"You are not just a guardian."

Aria's heart began to race.

"Then what am I?"

The dragon hesitated.

"Your bloodline…"

"It belongs to the First Flame."

The words echoed in the chamber.

Rowan blinked.

"That sounds very important."Aria stared at the dragon in shock.

"The First Flame?"

The dragon nodded.

"Thousands of years ago, when Nocthar tried to conquer the world… the dragons fought him."

"But they were not alone."

"A human warrior fought beside them."

"A woman whose soul carried the power of pure flame."

Nocthar's smile widened.

"Yes," he whispered.

"I remember her."His eyes burned with ancient hatred.

"She wounded me."

Aria felt something strange inside her chest.

A warmth.

A pulse.

"What does that have to do with me?" she asked quietly.

The dragon looked directly into her eyes.

"You are her descendant."

The chamber fell silent.

Rowan slowly looked at Aria.

"…You're kidding."

Aria shook her head in disbelief."No… that's impossible."

But Nocthar laughed.

"Oh, it is very possible."

He raised one clawed hand toward her.

"I can feel it."

"The same flame."

"The same blood."

Aria suddenly felt the pendant around her neck growing hot.

Very hot.

The golden stone inside it began glowing brighter.

Rowan stepped back."Uh… Aria?"

The pendant flared like a miniature sun.

Light spread across her chest and into her sword.

Aria gasped.

Energy surged through her body like fire.

The dragon watched with awe.

"The First Flame awakens…"

Aria dropped to one knee as the power rushed through her.

Memories flashed across her mind.

Images she had never seen before.

A battlefield.Dragons flying through burning skies.

And a warrior woman standing before a shadow king.

Holding a blade of living fire.

Aria's eyes snapped open.

Her sword was no longer glowing gold.

It was burning.

Actual flames flowed along the blade.

Rowan's jaw dropped.

"…Okay that is extremely cool."

Nocthar's smile faded.

"So it is true."

His voice became colder."The bloodline survived."

Aria slowly stood.

She could feel the power flowing through her.

Warm.

Strong.

Ancient.

The dragon stepped beside her.

"You are the Flame Heir."

Aria looked at the burning sword in her hand.

"I… don't know how to control this."

The dragon spoke gently."You already are."

Nocthar raised his hand again.

Shadows exploded from the ground around him.

"I will not allow history to repeat itself."

The chamber filled with darkness again.

Shadow creatures began forming from the ground.

Dozens of them.

Rowan sighed deeply.

"Oh good."

"Shadow monsters.""Exactly what this day needed."

Aria lifted the flaming sword.

Her eyes now glowed faintly with golden fire.

"Nocthar," she said firmly.

"This ends tonight."

Nocthar laughed.

"You speak like your ancestor."

His wings of darkness spread behind him.

"But she died."

The dragon roared.

"And so will you!"

The dragon launched forward with blazing fire.At the same time, Aria ran beside it.

Flame and dragonfire moved together like twin storms.

Rowan charged behind them with his spear.

"Alright!"

"Let's save the world!"

Nocthar raised both arms.

Shadow energy gathered like a hurricane.

The entire mountain shook again.

Fire.

Shadow.

And ancient power collided once more. But this time—

Aria's flame burned brighter than before.

Because now she knew the truth.

She was not just a guardian.

She was the heir of the First Flame.

And the only one who could destroy the Shadow King forever.

The final battle had begun.
