Chapter 24: Super Ultra SSR
The next day.
Suyan turned off his alarm exactly on time and got out of bed.
He glanced at Shizuka sleeping soundly beside him. Her delicate skin glowed with a rosy hue, completely exposed to the morning air. Suyan pulled up the blanket, covering the escaping scenery.
In her sleep, the golden-haired bimbo beauty furrowed her brow, a look of lingering trauma on her face. She mumbled in her sleep, "No more, I really can't eat anymore."
Hearing her sleep-talk, Suyan couldn't help but lightly swat her perfectly round, perky backside through the blanket. "I really don't know what to do with you."
The golden-haired beauty muttered something incomprehensible, rolled over, and changed her sleeping posture to lie flat on her stomach.
Suyan felt caught between amusement and exasperation. Rolling his eyes at her, he first adjusted her messy sleeping position so she was comfortable. He then got dressed, washed up, and left the bedroom, intending to go to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for everyone.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he entered the living room, he found Saeko already busy in the kitchen.
"Good morning, Junior Suyan."
Saeko greeted him like absolutely nothing had happened, and calmly returned to her cooking.
Suyan paused for a second before replying, "G-Good morning."
"By the way," Saeko suddenly asked. "Junior Suyan, is it okay if we have Miso Soup and Roasted Salmon with our rice for breakfast today?"
"That's fine," Suyan answered.
Honestly, as long as the food was clean and properly cooked, he wasn't a picky eater. To him, the only real difference was whether it was delicious or just average.
But...
Looking at Saeko acting so incredibly normal, Suyan swallowed hard and asked, "Senior Saeko, are you okay?"
Given what happened last night, if it had been him, he would have probably woken up and turned into a socially dead Bocchi-chan. How could she act like nothing happened and wake up early to make breakfast? It even made Suyan momentarily wonder if she was going to poison their food.
However, he dismissed the thought as quickly as it appeared. Saeko might be a hidden murder-junkie, but she wasn't a yandere.
Prompted by Suyan's words, Saeko recalled the scene from last night. Her hands stopped moving for a moment, and she turned to look at him. "Junior Suyan."
Here it comes, Suyan thought.
But what she said next completely caught him off guard.
"Do you think Ms. Marikawa will accept me?" Saeko asked, her words startling enough to wake the dead.
"Huh?!" Suyan's eyes widened in shock. He hadn't expected her to suddenly say something like that.
Noticing his shock, Saeko explained, "Didn't I tell you before? I don't care who else is around you, as long as I'm one of them, that's enough for me. So... I'm not here to break you two up, I'm here to join you."
Sweatdropped, Suyan stepped forward and hugged Saeko, feeling a pang of guilt. "Don't worry. Sister Shizuka really likes you."
Even though he had fully intended to build a harem from the start, hearing Saeko's slightly humble words still made him feel guilty. Of course, guilt or not, the harem was a must. That was a matter of principle. He would just have to figure out ways to make it up to her in other aspects.
"Is Ms. Marikawa not up yet?" Saeko asked, gently pushing him away after enjoying his warm embrace.
"Uh..." Suyan rubbed his nose, replying awkwardly, "Don't mind her. Sister Shizuka loves sleeping in. She won't be up until lunchtime."
A lie. The truth was, he had tormented Shizuka so thoroughly last night that she'd probably have to add another day to her sick leave.
Having listened outside the door for half the night, how could Saeko not know what was actually going on? But she didn't expose him. She played along, saying, "Is that so? Then I suppose I don't need to prepare a portion for Ms. Marikawa."
"Alright, Junior Suyan, go take a seat and wait. Breakfast will be ready in a moment."
"Then I'll gladly look forward to tasting Senior Saeko's cooking," Suyan nodded. He went to sit at the dining table, quietly admiring her graceful figure in the kitchen as he waited.
He had been in this world for over a year now, and he had cooked plenty of meals himself. But sitting at the table waiting for someone else to serve him? This was a first.
After all, Shizuka wasn't just a lazy bimbo; she was an absolute disaster in the kitchen. Ever since she took him in and nearly blew up the kitchen the first time she tried to cook for him, he had permanently banned her from ever entering it again.
"Try it, how does it taste?"
Soon enough, Saeko brought the prepared breakfast to Suyan, her face full of anticipation.
Suyan took a deep breath, savoring the aroma wafting through the air. Judging purely by the smell, this breakfast was already a success. Even if the flavor profile wasn't perfectly to his liking, it was impossible for it to taste bad.
He picked up the Miso Soup, took a sip, and gave it the highest possible praise.
"Umai!"
Although it was slightly exaggerated, it really did taste good. Plus, Japanese people loved using exaggerated words when speaking, so his reaction didn't seem out of place.
"I'm glad you like it." A flash of joy crossed Saeko's face, clearly satisfied with Suyan's response. She then said, "Junior Suyan, I have something to tell you. Do you remember the Hatsu from the Four Major Principles of Nen you told me about yesterday?"
"You want to develop your own ability?" Suyan shook his head. "You just learned Nen. It's way too early for you to be doing that. You should keep practicing for a while until you've completely mastered the techniques of Ten, Zetsu, and Ren."
"When the time comes, I'll teach you the Six Types of Nen derived from Hatsu. Once you confirm which category your aura belongs to, you can try developing an ability suited to your type."
"But..." Hearing this, Saeko looked at him with an odd expression. "I've already succeeded."
Saying so, the girl extended her hand. A longsword, very similar to her usual White Oak Bokken, materialized in her grasp.
Only, there were a few distinct differences in its appearance. Not only had the material changed from white oak to some unknown black metal, but the blade itself was covered in bizarre purple patterns. Furthermore, a dense, eerie pale-purple aura wreathed the blade, vibrating in the air as if it could slice through space itself.
"You said what?"
Suyan nearly did a spit-take with the Miso Soup he had just swallowed, staring at Saeko in absolute disbelief.
What do you mean you've already succeeded? And what is the deal with that ridiculously overpowered-looking sword? You literally just came into contact with Nen yesterday, and you've already developed your own unique ability. Is this the insurmountable gap between a genius and a normal person? If you keep growing like this, aren't you going to end up punching Chairman Netero and kicking the Chimera Ant King?
I am jealous of your talent! Wait, you're saying I get a share of that talent too?
Ah, then never mind. Suyan stared at Saeko, his eyes shining with unprecedented brilliance.
This was unmistakably an ultra-rare SSR wife with boundless potential!
