Chapter 25: Busujima Saeko's Unique Romance

"How did you do it?" Suyan asked in astonishment.

Even though the proof was right in front of him, he still found it hard to believe.

As a Specialization Type user whose affinity was adjacent to the Conjuration Type, Suyan had spent plenty of time experimenting with Conjuration abilities. Conjuring simple, everyday objects like a White Oak Bokken required almost no effort; all it took was a little time to observe and familiarize oneself with the object.

Conjuring objects that existed in reality was as simple as eating and drinking for a Conjuration user. It was the same principle as Emission users easily projecting their aura much further than other Nen types.

The true difficulty of Conjuration lay in how to conjure weapons with special abilities.

Conjuring a normal weapon and conjuring a weapon with a special ability were two entirely different concepts. A Conjuration user who could only materialize normal weapons was basically trash-tier in the world of Hunter x Hunter. After all, when fighting other Nen users, bringing a conjured normal weapon to a fight was no different than someone just bringing a real weapon. The only advantage was convenience; in terms of actual combat power, it offered zero edge.

But users who could conjure weapons with special abilities? That was a completely different story.

Take Kurapika, for example, who nearly dismantled the Phantom Troupe by himself using his five chained fingers—a specialized anti-Troupe Noble Phantasm. Or Kite, the mentor to the protagonist Gon, whose "Crazy Slots" could transform into nine different weapons and abilities during combat. Or Shizuku, a Phantom Troupe member herself, with her vacuum cleaner "Blinky" that could suck up any non-living thing. There was also Owl from the Shadow Beasts who successfully captured Troupe members, and the bomber Genthru, the final boss of the Greed Island arc.

Every single Conjuration user who wielded a special weapon was a master warrior, easily matching the strength of any other Nen type.

And looking at the longsword Saeko had just conjured... the visual effects alone were dialed up to eleven. Who would dare claim this was just an ordinary weapon?

You have to understand, Suyan had been practicing his Conjuration adjacent skills for over a year. Let alone conjuring a weapon with special abilities, he hadn't even found a single clue on how to do it. Yet Saeko had achieved it in a single night. How could he not be shocked?

"Mhm. To think there's actually something that can surprise you, Junior Suyan. That really makes me happy," Saeko chuckled, looking quite pleased with herself.

"Senior Saeko, stop messing around and just tell me," Suyan urged.

He was genuinely desperate to know exactly how she had pulled this off. Even though his Contract allowed him to passively sync with her cultivation progress, he only got the results, not the underlying theory. It was just like how he still hadn't figured out exactly how he and Shizuka had managed to spawn two YukimiBotamon.

If he could figure out the mechanics behind it, it would absolutely benefit his future Nen training. Maybe it could even help the YukimiBotamon evolve?

Finding Suyan's intense curiosity highly entertaining, Saeko's playful side flared up. She couldn't resist teasing him. "How about you beg me?"

"Do you want me to kowtow to you while I'm at it?" Suyan rolled his eyes.

"Junior Suyan, you really don't know how to play along." Saeko clicked her tongue and pouted slightly. "Fine, I'll just tell you."

"It actually wasn't that hard. First, I vividly pictured the exact shape and feel of the White Oak Bokken I always carry in my mind. Next, I used Ren to release my Nen out of my body, and then I used Ten to focus that aura in my hands, molding it according to the image I had in my head."

After a long pause, seeing that Saeko had stopped talking, Suyan hurriedly asked, "And then?"

He already knew all of that. He used the exact same method to conjure his weapons. The question was, what happened next? Didn't she say she conjured a White Oak Bokken? That black sword radiating pale-purple Nen clearly wasn't made of white oak, was it?

"And then?" Hearing Suyan's question, Saeko—who had no idea that conjured weapons were divided into "normal" and "special ability" categories—blinked. "But I'm already done explaining."

"That's it? What about the transformation process in the middle? Weren't you conjuring a White Oak Bokken? How did it turn into that?" Suyan was spiraling.

What kind of Naruto-style tutorial was this?

A bang here, and a pow there. And then the Rasengan is just formed, right? Faced with Suyan's intense staring, Saeko blinked innocently, clearly stumped by his questions. Left with no other choice, the girl detailed the entire process of how she conjured the weapon last night.

After listening, Suyan fell completely silent.

Yet another person who had blundered their way into acquiring a miraculous special ability. First Shizuka, and now Saeko. Wasn't this world being a bit too generous to its anime heroines?

Suyan waved his hand, sighing in resignation. "Forget it. Senior Saeko, just tell me what your sword's special ability is."

Saeko nodded. Holding the hilt with one hand, she gently traced the purple patterns on the blade with the other. She spoke softly, "I named this child Reizan."

"Reizan's ability is that every time it commits a slaughter, it gains varying degrees of enhancement depending on the opponent's strength, while simultaneously feeding a portion of the Nen back to me to increase my own aura capacity."

"It's a weapon with extremely high compatibility with me."

Suyan opened his mouth, then closed it again. He was so stunned by the weapon's ability that words failed him.

He had to admit, his earlier evaluation of Saeko had been far too conservative. Future-proof SSR? Please. This was clearly an Ultra Rare UR!

Killing enemies permanently buffs both the weapon and the user? What kind of infinitely scaling, soul-bound godly artifact was this?

He had thought his own ability—to sync the power growth of anyone he formed a Contract with—was already broken. But he never expected Saeko's Reizan to be even more insane. At least he had to run around finding people to make Contracts with. What did Saeko have to do? Just kill mobs to level up.

If this were anyone else, Suyan would have definitely dropped a classic line: Heavenly treasures belong to the virtuous! Junior, hand over your fortuitous encounter and I shall spare your life! "Are there any limitations?" Suyan probed further. She had listed the benefits, but what was the catch?

Upon hearing this, Saeko's hand gripping the hilt trembled ever so slightly. She replied casually, "Limitations? I suppose it lies in the word 'opponent'. It only grants a boost if I kill an entity I personally acknowledge as a worthy opponent."

"Is that so?" Suyan rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

That limitation actually made a lot of sense. But defining an "opponent"... he wondered if the massive, endlessly respawning hordes of zombies that would appear after the apocalypse broke out would be recognized by Saeko as "opponents." If they did count, the sheer scale of the power boost she could farm would be astronomical.

However, Saeko had actually hidden a very severe limitation from Suyan.

Or perhaps, in the girl's eyes, it couldn't even be called a limitation.

If Suyan died, Saeko would completely lose her mind, transforming into an immortal, ever-growing demon of vengeance. She would not stop until every single entity connected to his death was utterly obliterated.

And only then would the last trace of the existence known as Busujima Saeko finally fade from the world.

To disappear alongside him... perhaps this was the ultimate, unique romance in the heart of the woman named Busujima Saeko.
