Understanding dawned onto the crowd, all trace of confusion vanished almost instantly after realization.
This water tank was meant for gathering water much easier, no need to travel hundreds of meters away from the village just to fetch water at the river.
"With this, we men wouldn't have to go to the river every morning just to fetch water." One villager said, understanding dawned on him as he speak.
"We don't need to carry large buckets of water on our backs anymore." One villager added, his tone carried faint trace of relief.
"And not just that, this water came from the heavens."Another villager shouted, but stopped midway of his sentence.
Those final words made the entire crowd fell silent, their earlier loud voices that entangled one after another suddenly fell into quiet, they do not need to voice it out loud, but one thing is certain.
This water came from the heavens, meaning only one thing.
Holy Water.
Loud gulps echoed across the crowd, their mouths suddenly ran dry as their faces drianed of all color.
They couldn't possibly drink water that came directly from the heavens, Holy Water was considered sacred and can not be used by mortals, such actions can never be forgiven.
Roy sensed the eerie silence overlapping the villagers, he quickly stepped in, ensuring the people that drinking such waters are not considered blasphemy.
"Rest assured, everyone." Roy said, his voice carried the sweet, reassuring tone of someone who had tried to correct a misunderstanding, "This water is meant for you to consume, not as sacred relic that only the Gods could prosper."
He reached for a cup standing idly at a table, he filled the cup with water and passed it onto a standing crowd, his face still pale as he stare at the cup.
Roy gestured for the villager to drink.
"Drink, come on, it's ok."
The villager stammered slightly, glancing back at the crowd as his shaking hands slowly accepted the cup.
Cold sweat poured on the man's face, his hands began to shake violently as he drank the water.
Roy gave the man a proud, satisfied expression, smiling sweetly as he sligtly tapped the trembling villager's shoulder.
"Now, the rest of you, you may rest for a while and refresh yourselves." Roy said, gently sweeping his gaze toward the crowd and gently turned around, disappearing onto the distance.
The villagers watched Roy's fading figure, still unsure what to do.
They srambled closer toward the plastic faucet, running frantically as they tried to get a taste on the holy water.
---
Days past, the walls of the village was finally finished. Standing fifty meters high and ten meters thick, stretching from several kilometers away, fully encircling the village.
And along the walls, watchtowers formed a tight circle as battlements were lined up along the walls.
Cheers and laughter echoed across the street, workers celebrated and praise themselves for their hard work.
Roy looked at the finished walls, his expression bright and cheerful, clearly satisfied of the result.
He praised the workers with open enthusiasm, satisfaction visible on every word.
The workers were moved to tears, some shouted even loudly, some wiped tears from their eyes as they sobbed quietly.
"You have worked diligently, "Roy said, his tone carried visible satisfaction and amusement, "your hard work deserves a reward."
Roy exited the mirror and grabbed a giant gold nugget, barely the size of a human thumb.
He went back inside, carrying the gold nugget in hand and placed it before the workers.
"This will be your reward," Roy said, his voice low and steady, "continue working, and you shall receive more."
"Tonight, we shall have a feast!"
The villagers voices echoed across the street as they divided the giant gold nugget fairly and distributed them to every worker.
---
That night, the village burst into celebration.
Pots were set up in a straight line as steam rose from boiling waters, countless wooden tables were set down onto the center of the village as workers and villagers sat down chatting enthusiastically, the bustling street echoed with all kinds of chatter and laughter as food was being served.
Roy sat among the busy crowd, surrounded by altar servers, ministers, and key figures of the newly-finished city.
The ministers chatted loudly, laughing, celebrating as well as if they were part of the celebration.
Roy did not mind at all, because for him, this accomplishment were meant for all the people inside the village, including the altar servers and ministers.
The villager continued their loud chatter, as if immersed by some interesting topic that did not care about transparency.
Roy let out a soft chuckle, clearly amused.
Soon, the people inside the village began dancing, a bonfire was lit, music were played, and people jumped and swayed randomly as more people joined in.
Seeing this, Roy did not help but feel satisfied, clearly pleased by how the people were acting even though war and chaos has already ravaged the lands, where army are clashing constantly, where villages and towns are being burned to the ground, where civilians are all fleeing in search for safety, yet here, on this remote, isolated village, the people inside are dancing and laughing like the outside world did not even exist, or simply because they have already found oasis in this village that they have deliberately let down their guard.
Thinking this, Roy can not help but let out a low sigh, knowing that this place is the only place where all this people can feel that they are safe from the outside world.
Roy's determination of saving every people inside the mirror grew even stronger.
"Even if it meant burning two kingdoms along the process," Roy said quietly, a gloomy expression seem to sprout across his face, " if it meant to save those innocent civilians, I must do everything I can."
Just as he was thinking deeply, Yom Euni, draped with flowing white garments, suddenly approached Roy and pulled him toward the dancing crowd.
And so, the joyful atmosphere of celebration continued for the rest of the night.
