Chapter 24 - Physical Education Class

The final class on Friday morning was physical education.

Even before the bell rang, the P.E. teacher arrived in the classroom and instructed the students to head to the locker rooms and change into their sports uniforms.

After changing, the class bell sounded, and Luo Yu walked with the other boys toward the football field.

The athletic facilities at Sobu High School were enormous. Besides the main football field, there were also tennis courts, badminton courts, and a baseball field.

There was even a large indoor sports complex containing basketball courts, volleyball courts, and table tennis tables. The school's sports resources were exceptionally abundant.

When Luo Yu arrived at the field, he noticed many of the boys staring enthusiastically at the girls who had just changed into their athletic uniforms.

The girls, full of youthful energy and vitality, naturally attracted attention.

Luo Yu shook his head in mild disbelief.

It was true that young girls carried a refreshing youthful charm, but was it really necessary to stare like that?

Then he thought about it again.

After all, he had Ranni.

The others did not.

…Alright, perhaps he could understand them a little.

The P.E. teacher blew his whistle once everyone had gathered and led the class through warm-up exercises before starting with running.

Sure enough, no matter the world or the country, physical education classes always included endurance training.

Fortunately, the running distance was reasonable.

The boys had to run two laps, while the girls only ran one.

Each lap was 400 meters, meaning the boys ran 800 meters in total. For most reasonably fit high school boys, this was manageable.

There were no particularly overweight students in Luo Yu's class, so even those with weaker stamina were not overly worried about jogging two laps.

As for Luo Yu—

Even though he deliberately slowed his pace, he still finished first in the entire class.

Eight hundred meters was nothing to him. Compared to the distance he had run the previous night, this didn't even count as exercise.

The situation was quite different for the girls.

Although they only had to run one lap, 400 meters was still a challenge for those with poor stamina.

As the first boy to finish, Luo Yu reached the finish line and noticed several girls already sitting on the ground nearby, breathing heavily after completing their run.

Looking back toward the track, Luo Yu spotted Yukino Yukinoshita, gritting her teeth as she pushed herself toward the finish line.

Ah, right.

The second daughter of the Yukinoshita family had rather poor physical stamina. The fact that she could persist this far was already commendable.

Running beside her was Eriri Spencer Sawamura, looking even more miserable.

Unlike Yukino Yukinoshita, who at least had some experience with sports and knew basic breathing techniques, Eriri focused almost entirely on drawing.

Her physical condition was even worse.

At this point, she was running purely on willpower.

Luo Yu could already predict that during the next three years of high school, the blonde twin-tailed girl's P.E. grades would probably remain quite unimpressive.

Eventually, everyone crossed the finish line—some easily, others with great difficulty.

The P.E. teacher nodded with satisfaction and clapped his hands.

"Good job. That concludes the warm-up. Now you're free to choose activities. Football, tennis, whatever you like. The indoor gym still has equipment under maintenance this week, so please stay on the outdoor fields."

Once free activity was announced, Luo Yu stretched lazily and began considering where to relax.

Football held no interest for him.

Basketball and tennis were not much more appealing either.

Seeing the grassy area beside the football field, he decided to sit there for a while.

He walked over and sat beneath a tree near the field. Taking out his phone, he sent a message to Ranni, who was still at home.

Only a few seconds passed before she replied—and even sent a photo.

The picture showed an open computer screen displaying the Steam interface. On the desk beside it lay a notebook filled with dense handwriting.

Luo Yu glanced at it briefly.

Most of the notes were about basic magical theory, clearly the result of Ranni's research on how to teach magic.

It seemed she had indeed spent the entire morning seriously preparing for Miko Yotsuya's lessons.

Ranni:

"I just finished writing the introductory materials. Taking a break now. I never realized creating teaching materials would be this exhausting."

Luo Yu smiled and typed a reply.

Luo Yu:

"I'm in P.E. class right now. Finished running and found a quiet spot to rest. Don't forget to eat lunch later—I made it especially for you."

Ranni:

"I know. I'll eat. But for now I'm going to play a game. Ranked matches in Street Fighter are quite interesting."

Luo Yu:

"Alright, have fun. Just don't lose track of time."

After sending the message, Luo Yu put his phone away.

Stretching comfortably, he leaned back against the tree and watched the boys playing football on the field.

Meanwhile, after finishing their rest, most of the girls chose badminton or tennis for their activities.

Just as Luo Yu was beginning to feel slightly drowsy from watching the game, he noticed Yukino Yukinoshita walking toward the grassy area alone.

She hadn't expected to find Luo Yu already sitting beneath the tree's shade, but after hesitating briefly, she approached.

"Luo Yu… there isn't anyone else here, right?"

Luo Yu glanced at her and nodded.

"No. You can sit and rest wherever you like."

"Thank you."

After looking around, Yukino chose a spot on the grass some distance away from him and sat down.

Although someone had joined him, Luo Yu didn't mind at all.

He yawned once… and actually closed his eyes, taking a brief nap.

Yukino Yukinoshita found his reaction somewhat surprising.

After glancing at the ring on Luo Yu's finger, she turned her gaze toward the distance and allowed her mind to drift.

Physical education truly was not her strong suit.

Five minutes before the end of class, the P.E. teacher gathered everyone again and dismissed them.

Yawning, Luo Yu followed the crowd back to the locker room to change.

The moment he entered, several boys surrounded him.

"Luo Yu! We all saw it! Yukinoshita was sitting with you just now!"

"Yeah, yeah—when did you get close to her?"

"I heard her family is one of the richest in Chiba!"

Luo Yu paid them no mind. While changing clothes, he replied calmly,

"We barely spoke. I was sleeping most of the time. Don't spread rumors—it's not good for the girl."

The boys continued arguing while changing.

"You seriously have zero interest?"

"I don't believe that."

"By the way… what's with that ring you're wearing?"

The moment the question was asked, everyone's gaze fell on the Dark Moon Ring on Luo Yu's finger.
