"Get me your most priceless jade pieces." Chen Wenjin said as she stepped into a trading house known as the Blue dragon.
"Right away miss." the ship owner said as he bowed and went to fetch the most priceless jade pieces he could find.
"Young Miss." Xiao Mei said as she prepared a seat for her young miss.
Sitting down on the wooden chair with as much grace she could muster, Chen Wenjin tried hard to calm her fear.
"Did I react to rashly?" Chen Wenjin asked aloud and Shen Xiatang looked at her like she had lost her senses.
"Young Miss." Xiao Mei said sadly.
"I should have been more understanding." Chen Wenjin said as she nodded to herself.
"Chen Jinyu is his future family member after all, what's wrong with him getting to know her?" Chen Wenjin asked aloud.
"Young Miss." Xiao Mei said again sadder than the first time.
"Liu Tiancheng humiliates you without cause." Xiao Mei and in a sad tone.
"He undermines your position as his soon to be wife and always talks down to you in the presence of others." said Xiao Mei in a sad tone and Shen Xiatang clapped.
"He is a man getting angry is normal. As a woman I shouldn't oppose him so much." Chen Wenjin tried to say in Liu Tiancheng's defense but Xaio Mei couldn't bear to hear her say that.
"Young Miss," Xiao Mei said as she looked at Chen Wenjin straight in the eyes.
"You always said that you wanted to marry someone who treats you the same way your dad treats your mom. Look at Liu Tiancheng as he is now and not what he was before, is Liu Tiancheng really the right fit?" Xiao Mei asked softly.
"He is just misguided." said Chen Wenjin and Xiao Mei looked at her in sadness.
"Misguided?" Shen Xiatang asked in disbelief.
"He willingly hurt you!" Shen Xiatang said, in anger.
"We have been engaged since we were six." Chen Wenjin said, stressing each word.
"He said he will marry me and gave me this jade pendant that I keep." Chen Wenjin said, as she showed Xiao Mei a pendant that she always carried with her.
"Liu Tiancheng has always taken care of me, this is just a small mishap." Che Wenjin said, as she tried to convince herself.
"The man I love is there somewhere." Chen Wenjin said in a sad tone.
"I just need to make sure that the engagement isn't annulled then I can spend my time getting him to love me the way he used to before." Chen Wenjin said with a nod to herself and Xiao Mei said nothing in return.
"I might be here for a long time." Shen Xiatang said with a sigh as she looked at the love-brained girl who was supposed to get her, her revenge.
Setting three green jade pieces before Chen Wenjin, the shop owner introduced each of them as the Jade of the nine heavens, Azure circulet and the Vermilion heart necklace.
"Perfect." Chen Wenjin said as she analyzed each one.
"I will have all three." Chen Wenjin said as Xiao Mei handed him a paper with a seal and the shop keeper immediately packaged them into boxes.
Taking her seat in the carriage, Chen Wenjin tried her best to relax as Xiao Mei said "To the Marquis Estate." to the carriage driver as she followed the carriage on foot.
After twenty minutes, the carriage stopped in front of the Marquis Estate and Xiao Mei hurried to set a foot stool before the carriage door. Holding her young Miss by the hand, Xaio Mei helped Chen Wenjin come down the carriage safely before heading inside the carriage to carry the gifts. Wrapping all of them in cloth, Xaio Mei made sure the gifts were safely secured before following her young miss into the Marquis Estate.
As they crossed the gates of the Marquis Estate, none of the maids came to greet them despite Chen Wenjin's position as the soon to be wife of Liu Tiancheng.
"Are your eyes too tired to recognized the future madam of this household?" Xiao Mei asked a maid who was ignoring them like they were specks of dust with a snarl but Chen Wenjin quickly stopped her.
"It's okay." Chen Wenjin said with a smile.
"I know my way." Chen Wenjin said as she walked to the Marquis family hall.
Sitting down on the seat for guests, Chen Wenjin waited for the madam of the Marquis Residence to arrive.
"Do you think they have informed her that I am here yet?" Chen Wenjin asked as the doors of the family hall were pushed open.
Standing up quickly, Chen Wenjin bowed to her future mother in-law with a smile and her eyes closed.
"You may rise." said the madam of the Marquis Estate.
Opening her eyes cheerfully, Chen Wenjin was about to rush to her mother in law but stopped short when she noticed Chen Jinyu holding the arm of the madam of the house with a little smirk on her lips.
