Chapter 19: Sweet Preparations
[Scene: School Hallway - Morning Announcements]
(Kenta walks through the hallway. Posters are everywhere. Pink. Red. Hearts. "Valentine's Day Preparation Festival!")
Takahashi Kenji: (appearing) "KENTA! Did you hear?!"
Kenta: "About what?"
Takahashi Kenji: "The Student Council is hosting a Valentine's Prep Day! Today after school! Everyone's invited!"
Kenta: "Prep day?"
Takahashi Kenji: "Yeah! They have booths for making chocolates, writing love letters, decorating gifts—everything! It's basically a practice run for Valentine's Day!"
Kenta: (thinking) "Chocolate making..."
(His phone buzzes. Group chat.)
Sui: "KENTA-KUN! Did you see the posters?!"
Yui: "Valentine's Prep Day! After school!"
Sui: "WE HAVE TO GO!"
Yui: "Together! As a group! For practice!"
Sui: "Please please please! "
Kenta: (typing) "You want to make chocolates?"
Sui: "YES!"
Yui: "But we need your SCIENTIFIC precision!"
Sui: "You're the only one who can make them PERFECT!"
Kenta: (pause) (ears red) "...Okay."
Sui: "YES! "
Yui: "MEET US AT THE GYM AFTER SCHOOL! "
Takahashi Kenji: (reading over shoulder) "Ooooh, Valentine's Prep with the girls. You're gonna make chocolates together?"
Kenta: "They asked for help."
Takahashi Kenji: (grinning) "Sure. 'Help.' That's what they're calling it."
Kenta: "What else would they call it?"
Takahashi Kenji: (patting his back) "You're so innocent. It's adorable."
Kenta: (confused) "I'm not adorable."
Takahashi Kenji: (walking away, laughing) "Keep telling yourself that!"

[Scene: School Gymnasium - Transformed]
(The gym is unrecognizable. Booths line the walls. Pink and red decorations everywhere. Students crowd around various stations.)
Booth 1: Chocolate Making Station
Booth 2: Love Letter Writing
Booth 3: Gift Wrapping
Booth 4: Valentine's Card Design
Booth 5: "Confession Practice" (run by the drama club)
(Kenta walks in. Immediately overwhelmed by the chaos.)
Student 1: (running past) "I need more sprinkles!"
Student 2: (chasing) "The chocolate is melting!"
Student 3: (crying) "My letter is ruined!"
Kenta: (thinking) "Chaos. Pure chaos."
Sui: (appearing) "KENTA-KUN!"
Yui: (also appearing) "YOU'RE HERE!"
(They grab his arms. Both wearing their matching hair clips.)
Sui: "We've been waiting!"
Yui: "The chocolate station is this way!"
(They drag him through the crowd.)

(The station is packed. Tables with ingredients. Melting pots. Molds. Desperate students.)
Sui: (looking around) "It's so busy!"
Yui: "We'll never get a spot!"
Kenta: (calmly) "Follow me."
(He navigates through the crowd. Finds an empty table in the corner.)
Sui: (amazed) "How did you know this was here?!"
Kenta: "Observation. Most people go to the center. Corners are less popular."
Yui: (grinning) "Genius-level chocolate making!"
Sui: "Our genius!"

(They gather ingredients. Kenta takes charge.)
Kenta: "First, we need precise measurements. Chocolate is sensitive to temperature and ratios."
Sui: (in awe) "He's in his element!"
Yui: (also in awe) "So focused!"
Kenta: (ignoring them) "The ideal tempering temperature for dark chocolate is 31-32°C. Do they have thermometers here?"
Sui: (holding up a cheap one) "Found it!"
Kenta: (inspecting) "This is inaccurate. But it will work."
(He measures ingredients. Explains ratios. The girls watch, mesmerized.)
Kenta: "The perfect chocolate ratio is 2:1 chocolate to cream for ganache. But since we're making molded chocolates, we need a different approach."
Yui: (sighing) "He's so smart..."
Sui: (also sighing) "Our genius..."
Kenta: (ears red) "Are you listening?"
Sui & Yui: (in unison) "YES! TOTALLY! COMPLETELY!"

(Despite Kenta's precision, chaos ensues.)
Sui: (spilling chocolate) "Oops!"
Yui: (getting chocolate on her cheek) "Whoops!"
Kenta: (watching) "You're both very messy."
Sui: (grinning) "That's why we have YOU!"
Yui: (pointing) "Kenta-kun, you have chocolate on your nose!"
Kenta: (touching) "Where?"
Sui: (reaching up) "Here—"
(She wipes it off with her finger. Then licks her finger.)
Sui: (blushing) "Tastes good."
Kenta: (ears red) "You... licked chocolate off your finger."
Sui: "It's QUALITY CONTROL!"
Yui: (dipping her finger) "Me too!"
(She tastes. Nods approvingly.)
Yui: "Kenta-kun's chocolate is perfect!"
Kenta: "It's not MY chocolate. It's the chocolate we're making."
Sui: (grinning) "But YOU measured it! So it's YOUR chocolate!"
Kenta: "That's not how it works."
Yui: "It is today!"

[Scene: Chocolate Making - The Feeding]
Sui: (holding up a piece) "Kenta-kun! Taste test!"
Kenta: "I can take it myself—"
Sui: "NO! MOUTH OPEN!"
(He sighs. Opens. She places it gently.)
Sui: (watching intently) "Well?!"
Kenta: (chewing) "Good. Slightly sweet. The tempering could be better, but—"
Yui: (holding another piece) "Now MINE!"
(She feeds him too.)
Yui: "How is it?!"
Kenta: (chewing) "Also good. Different shape, same chocolate."
Sui: (pouting) "That's not romantic!"
Kenta: "It's accurate."
Yui: (giggling) "We love watching you eat."
Kenta: (freezing) "What?"
Sui: (quickly) "WE MEAN—WE CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION—AS A TASTE TESTER—VERY IMPORTANT ROLE—"
Yui: (nodding frantically) "QUALITY ASSURANCE! TOP PRIORITY!"
Kenta: (ears red) "Right."

[Scene: Love Letter Booth - Accidental Visit]
(After finishing the chocolates, they wander. Sui stops at the Love Letter booth.)
Sui: (looking at blank letters) "Yui... look at these!"
Yui: (joining) "Pretty paper!"
Kenta: (reading sign) "'Write your feelings. Give them tomorrow.'"
Sui: (nervous) "Imagine writing a love letter..."
Yui: (also nervous) "So scary..."
Sui: "What would you even say?"
Yui: "I don't know... maybe... 'I've liked you for a long time'?"
Sui: "Too direct!"
Yui: "How about... 'You make me happy'?"
Sui: "Too simple!"
Kenta: (listening) (quietly) "Sometimes simple is best."
Sui & Yui: (in unison, turning) "WHAT?!"
Kenta: (ears red) "Nothing. Just... observation."
Sui: (heart racing) "He said simple is best..."
Yui: (heart racing) "Is he talking about us?!"
Kenta: (walking away) "Let's go to the next booth."
Sui & Yui: (following, flustered) "WAIT FOR US!"

[Scene: Gift Wrapping Booth]
(They wrap their chocolates. Sui and Yui have special boxes. Kenta helps.)
Sui: (holding up her wrapped box) "How does it look?!"
Kenta: "Good."
Yui: (holding up hers) "And mine?!"
Kenta: "Also good."
Sui: (pouting) "That's it?! Just 'good'?!"
Kenta: (pause) "They look... beautiful."
Sui: (freezing) "BEAUTIFUL?!"
Yui: (also freezing) "HE SAID BEAUTIFUL!"
Kenta: (ears red) "The boxes. The wrapping. Not—I mean—"
Sui: (grinning) "His ears!"
Yui: (also grinning) "They never lie!"
Kenta: (looking away) "Let's go."

[Scene: Confession Practice Booth - The Drama]
(They pass the Confession Practice booth. Run by the drama club. A couple is awkwardly practicing.)
Boy: "I... I like you."
Girl: "I like you too!"
Drama Club President: (directing) "MORE FEELING! Like you MEAN it!"
Sui: (watching) "That's so embarrassing."
Yui: (nodding) "I could never."
Drama Club President: (noticing them) "Oh! You three! Want to practice?!"
Sui & Yui: (in unison) "NO THANK YOU!"
Kenta: (calmly) "We're good."
Drama Club President: (grinning) "Suit yourselves! But tomorrow's the real thing! Be ready!"
(They walk away quickly, all three red.)
Sui: (whispering) "Tomorrow..."
Yui: (whispering back) "The real thing..."
Kenta: (thinking) "Tomorrow. Valentine's Day."

[Scene: School Gate - Evening]
(The event is over. Students leave with chocolates, letters, decorations. Sui and Yui clutch their special boxes.)
Sui: "Kenta-kun... thank you for helping us today."
Yui: "We couldn't have done it without you."
Kenta: "You would have managed."
Sui: (shaking head) "Not like THIS."
Yui: "Now they're perfect."
Sui: (nervous) "Kenta-kun... about tomorrow..."
Kenta: "What about it?"
Yui: (also nervous) "Do you... have any plans?"
Kenta: (pause) "I was hoping to see you both."
Sui & Yui: (in unison) "REALLY?!"
Kenta: "The sky will be clear tomorrow night. I thought... maybe the hill?"
Sui: (tearing up) "The hill..."
Yui: (also tearing up) "With you?"
Kenta: (nodding) "With you. Both of you."
Sui: (clutching her box) "We'll be there."
Yui: (also clutching hers) "We promise."
(They reach the gate.)
Sui: (standing on tiptoes) "For today."
(She kisses his cheek.)
Yui: (also on tiptoes) "For the preparation."
(She kisses his other cheek.)
Kenta: (touching his cheeks) "Two more."
Sui: (grinning) "Count them all!"
Yui: (also grinning) "Tomorrow night... we'll give you something too."
Kenta: (quietly) "I'll be waiting."
(They run off, waving.)
Kenta: (standing there, touching his cheeks, looking at the sky)
Kenta: (thinking) "Tomorrow night. The hill. Everything changes."
(He walks home, heart pounding.)

[Scene: Kenta's Room - Night]
(He sits at his desk. Looks at the astrolabe. Looks at the whiteboard. Looks at his journal.)
(He opens the journal. Writes.)
Kenta's Journal:
"February 13th. Today was the Valentine's Prep event at school. Sui and Yui made chocolates. I helped. They fed me. They blushed. They said the boxes were for someone special.
Tomorrow night. The hill. They're coming.
I think I know who the special person is.
I think I know what I need to say.
I'm scared. But for the first time... being scared feels right.
Tomorrow. Everything changes."
(He closes the journal. Looks at the stars.)
Kenta: (whispering) "Father... wish me luck."
(His phone buzzes. Two messages.)
Sui: "Kenta-kun! Today was perfect! Thank you for being our scientist! Tomorrow night... we'll tell you everything! Sleep well! "
Yui: "My prince~ today was magic. The chocolates, the feeding, the blushing... tomorrow night is going to be even better. I can feel it. Goodnight!"
Kenta: (smiling) (typing back to both): "Goodnight. Thank you for today. Tomorrow night... I'll be ready."
(Immediate replies:)
Sui: "HE SAID HE'LL BE READY! "
Yui: "TOMORROW IS THE DAY! PROGRESS MAXIMUM! "
Sui: "SWEET DREAMS OUR KENTA-KUN!"
Yui: "DREAM OF US! (TOMORROW WE MAKE IT REAL!) "
Kenta: (putting down the phone) (looking at the stars one last time)
Kenta: (thinking) "Tomorrow night. The hill. Under the stars."
(He closes his eyes, smiling.)
Kenta: (thinking) "I'm ready."
(He falls asleep, happy.)
