Chapter 20: Valentine's Day - The Theory of Us

[Scene: Kenta's Room - Valentine's Day Morning]
(Kenta wakes up before dawn. His heart is pounding. He looks at the astrolabe on his desk. At his journal. At the whiteboard with their drawings still there.)
Kenta: (thinking) "Today. Everything changes."
(His phone buzzes. Two messages.)
Sui: "Kenta-kun! Good morning! It's Valentine's Day! I'm so nervous I might die! See you at school!"
Yui: "My prince~ today is the day! I can't eat breakfast! Meet us at the gate? "
Kenta: (typing back to both): "Good morning. I'll be there."
(He stands. Looks in the small mirror. Straightens his uniform. Puts on the scarf Sui made him. Puts on the gloves Yui made him. Touches his chest where his heart is racing.)
Kenta: (thinking) "Father... I'm doing this."

[Scene: School Gate - Morning]
(Sui and Yui are already there. Both wear their matching hair clips. Both hold their special chocolate boxes. Both are visibly nervous.)
Sui: (spotting him) "KENTA-KUN!"
Yui: (also spotting) "YOU'RE HERE!"
(They run to him. Stop just inches away. All three are red.)
Sui: (holding out her box) "I... I made this. For you."
Yui: (also holding out hers) "Me too. For you."
Kenta: (looking at the boxes, then at them) "For me?"
Sui: (nodding, tearing up) "For you."
Yui: (also nodding) "Always for you."
Kenta: (taking both boxes carefully) "Thank you. I... I have something for you too. But not here."
Sui: (confused) "Not here?"
Kenta: "The gym. First period. Professor Hayashi said I could use it."
Yui: (eyes widening) "The gym?! For WHAT?!"
Kenta: (ears red) "Just... come. Please."
Sui & Yui: (in unison) "We'll be there!"

[Scene: School Gymnasium - First Period]
(The entire student body is gathered. Whispers fill the air.)
Student 1: "Why are we in the gym?"
Student 2: "Professor Hayashi said something about a presentation."
Student 3: "By who?"
Professor Hayashi: (at the microphone) "Quiet please! Today, one of our students requested to address the school. This has never happened before. Please give your attention to Kenta Morik."
(Gasps echo through the crowd.)
Student 4: "Kenta Morik?! The genius?!"
Student 5: "He never speaks in public!"
Student 6: "This is historic!"
(Sui and Yui stand near the front, clutching each other's hands.)
Sui: (whispering) "Yui... what is he doing?!"
Yui: (whispering back) "I don't know but I'm going to cry!"
(Kenta walks to the center of the gym. A whiteboard is set up. He stands alone. Hundreds of eyes on him. His ears are red. His hands shake slightly. But he doesn't run.)
Kenta: (clearing throat) "Good morning."
(The gym goes silent.)
Kenta: "I've never spoken publicly before. I don't like attention. I don't like crowds. I like numbers. Equations. Problems with solutions."
(He pauses. Looks at Sui and Yui.)
Kenta: "But some problems don't have equations. Some things can't be solved with math."
(He picks up a marker. Turns to the whiteboard.)
Kenta: "Today, I want to talk about two things. The Theory of Relativity. And the Chemistry of Love."

[The Whiteboard - Kenta's Presentation]
Part 1: Relativity
(He writes rapidly.)
Kenta: "Einstein's theory of relativity changed how we understand the universe. Time is not absolute. Space is not fixed. Mass and energy are the same thing."
(Equations fill the board.)
Kenta: "E = mc². The most famous equation in history. Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared. It means that even a small amount of mass contains enormous energy."
Student 7: (whispering) "I don't understand any of this."
Student 8: "But it looks impressive!"
Kenta: (continuing) "But relativity also tells us something else. Something about connection. About how two things can be separate but intertwined."
(He draws a diagram.)
Kenta: "In spacetime, mass curves the fabric of the universe. Objects fall toward each other not because of a force, but because of the shape of space itself."
Professor Hayashi: (nodding) "Beautifully explained."
Kenta: (turning to the crowd) "I used to think love was like that. A force I didn't understand. Something that pulled me toward people without explanation."
(He looks at Sui and Yui.)
Kenta: "But I was wrong. Love isn't like gravity."

Part 2: The Chemistry of Love
(He erases half the board. Starts new equations.)
Kenta: "Love is chemistry."
(He writes:)

Kenta: "Dopamine. Serotonin. Oxytocin. These are the chemicals responsible for attraction, bonding, and attachment."
Student 9: (confused) "Is he... explaining love with science?!"
Student 10: "Only Kenta Morik would do this!"
Kenta: "When you're near someone you care about, your brain releases dopamine. You feel pleasure. Serotonin stabilizes your mood. You feel calm. Oxytocin—the bonding hormone—creates trust and attachment."
(He turns to face the crowd directly.)
Kenta: "I used to think emotions were inefficient. Illogical. A distraction from solving real problems."
(His voice softens.)
Kenta: "But then two people crashed into my life. Literally."
(Small laughter from the crowd.)
Kenta: "They fed me. They stayed with me when I was sick. They gave me a whiteboard so I could solve problems. They shared my father's astrolabe and looked at the stars with me."
(His eyes find Sui and Yui in the crowd. They're both crying.)
Kenta: "And slowly, without equations, without formulas, without any logic at all... I started feeling things."
(He touches his chest.)
Kenta: "Warmth. Safety. Happiness. Fear. All at once. All because of them."
(The gym is dead silent.)
Kenta: "So today, I wanted to prove something. Not with math. Not with chemistry. But with words."
(He takes a deep breath. The longest of his life.)
Kenta: "Sui Makoto. Misu Yui."
(Their names echo. Sui sobs. Yui grips her.)
Kenta: "You are the most beautiful variables in my equation. You are the constants I never knew I needed. You are the proof that some things can't be calculated—only felt."
(He walks toward them. The crowd parts. He stops in front of them.)
Kenta: (quietly, just for them) "I love you. Both of you. I don't know how to love two people at once. I don't know if that's allowed. But I know that when I'm with you, I'm home."
Sui: (crying) "Kenta-kun..."
Yui: (also crying) "We love you too. Both of us. Together."
Kenta: (ears red, eyes wet) "Together?"
Sui: (nodding) "Together."
Yui: (nodding) "Always together."
(The gym explodes. Cheers. Tears. Takahashi is openly sobbing.)
Takahashi Kenji: (yelling) "THAT'S MY BEST FRIEND! THAT'S MY LEGEND!"
Professor Hayashi: (wiping his eyes) "I've never seen anything like this."

[Scene: Aftermath - Hallway]
(Kenta, Sui, and Yui walk through the hallway. Students stare. Whisper. Smile.)
Student 1: "That was the most romantic thing ever."
Student 2: "Kenta Morik confessed to TWO girls at once!"
Student 3: "With SCIENCE!"
Sui: (holding Kenta's hand) "Kenta-kun... that was... I can't even..."
Yui: (holding his other hand) "You spoke in front of EVERYONE. For us."
Kenta: (ears red) "I had to. You deserved to know. Properly."
Sui: (squeezing) "Tonight. The hill. Like we promised?"
Kenta: (nodding) "The hill."
Yui: (smiling through tears) "We'll bring the chocolates."
Sui: (also smiling) "And the stars."
Kenta: "I'll bring the astrolabe."

[Scene: The Hill - Sunset]
(They walk up together. Hands held. Sui left. Yui right. Kenta between them.)
Sui: (looking at the sky) "It's so clear tonight."
Yui: (also looking) "Perfect for stars."
Kenta: "Perfect for this."
(They reach the top. Sit on the grass. Same spots. Sui left. Yui right. Kenta between.)
Sui: (pulling out her chocolate box) "Kenta-kun... these are for you. Real ones. Not practice."
Yui: (also pulling out hers) "From both of us."
Kenta: (taking them) "I've never gotten Valentine's chocolate before."
Sui: (tearing up) "Now you have two."
Yui: (also tearing up) "From both of us."
Kenta: (opening Sui's box) "They're beautiful."
(He eats one. Chews. Swallows.)
Sui: (nervous) "Well?!"
Kenta: (smiling) "Perfect."
Sui: (crying) "HE SMILED! HE ACTUALLY SMILED!"
Yui: (laughing through tears) "AT YOUR CHOCOLATE!"
(He opens Yui's box. Eats one.)
Yui: "And mine?!"
Kenta: (smiling wider) "Also perfect."
Yui: (also crying) "I CAN'T HANDLE THIS!"

[Scene: The Hill - Stars Appear]
(The sky darkens. Stars emerge one by one. Kenta takes out the astrolabe.)
Kenta: "My father used to bring me here. He'd point at the stars and tell me their names."
Sui: (leaning on his shoulder) "Tell us."
Yui: (leaning on his other shoulder) "Please."
Kenta: (pointing) "That's Jupiter. Brightest one tonight."
Sui: "Like you."
Kenta: (confused) "Like me?"
Yui: "Brightest. Always shining."
Kenta: (ears red) "And that's Mars. Red one."
Sui: "Like our cheeks around you."
Kenta: (almost laughing) "And those seven together—the Pleiades."
Yui: "Like us. Three of them. Seven of them. Together."
Kenta: (looking at them) "Together."
Sui: (turning to him) "Kenta-kun... earlier today... you said you loved us."
Kenta: (nodding) "I meant it."
Yui: (also turning) "We meant it too. We love you. Both of us."
Sui: "We've loved you since we were kids."
Yui: "Since the sandbox. Since the ice cream. Since always."
Kenta: (looking at both of them) "I don't know how to love two people at once. But I know I do. I love Sui. I love Yui. Both. Together."
Sui: (crying) "That's all we ever wanted."
Yui: (also crying) "To be loved by you. Together."

[Scene: The Hill - First Kiss]
(They sit in silence for a moment. Stars above. Hearts full.)
Kenta: (quietly) "Sui. Yui."
Sui: "Yes?"
Yui: "Yes?"
Kenta: "Can I... kiss you? Both of you?"
Sui: (breathless) "Kenta-kun..."
Yui: (also breathless) "Yes. Please."
(Kenta turns to Sui first. Cups her face gently. She closes her eyes. He presses his lips to hers. Soft. Warm. Real. Five seconds. Maybe ten.)
(He pulls back. Sui is crying, smiling, touching her lips.)
Sui: (whispering) "Our first real kiss..."
(Kenta turns to Yui. Same gentle touch. Same soft lips. She melts into it. Tears stream down her face.)
(He pulls back. Yui is also crying, also smiling.)
Yui: (whispering) "I've waited so long..."
Kenta: (looking at both) "I love you."
Sui: "We love you too."
Yui: "Always."
Sui: (leaning in) "One more?"
Kenta: (smiling) "One more."
(They kiss him together. Both cheeks first. Then lips. Sui first. Then Yui. Then both at once, somehow, impossibly, perfectly.)

[Scene: The Hill - Promise]
(They sit together, holding hands. The astrolabe in Kenta's lap. The stars above.)
Sui: "Kenta-kun... what happens now?"
Kenta: "Now? We live. Together. We solve problems. We watch stars. We eat chocolate."
Yui: (giggling) "And kiss?"
Kenta: (ears red) "And kiss."
Sui: "Promise?"
Kenta: (looking at them, looking at the stars, looking at his father's astrolabe)
Kenta: "Promise."
Yui: "For how long?"
Kenta: (thinking) "For as long as the stars burn."
Sui: (tearing up) "That's forever."
Kenta: (smiling) "That's the plan."
(They lean against him. Three silhouettes under a million stars.)

[Scene: Kenta's Room - Night]
(He lies in bed. His phone buzzes. Two messages.)
Sui: "Kenta-kun... tonight was magic. I'll never forget it. Our first kiss. Your words. The stars. I love you. Sleep well, our love. "
Yui: "My prince... my love... my Kenta-kun. Tonight was everything. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for being you. Forever yours. "
Kenta: (smiling, crying a little) (typing back to both): "I love you both. Forever. Goodnight. See you tomorrow."
(Immediate replies:)
Sui: "FOREVER! "
Yui: "OUR KENTA-KUN! FOREVER! "
Sui: "SWEET DREAMS OUR LOVE!"
Yui: "DREAM OF US! (WE'LL BE THERE TOMORROW!) "
Kenta: (putting down the phone) (looking at the astrolabe on his desk, at the whiteboard with their drawings, at the stars outside)
Kenta: (whispering) "Father... I found them. I love them. And they love me."
(He closes his eyes, smiling.)
Kenta: (thinking) "This is the best equation I've never solved."
(He falls asleep, happy. Truly happy.)
