Chapter 17 - Meeting Lily I

Jensen watched Edward die without blinking an eye, yes, he had indeed planned his death.

Did he feel bad about it?

Killing what seemed to be an innocent man just to stop him from coming after him.

No, he did not, that ship had sailed a long time ago.

"Are you sure about that?" Xal'Zyraeth suddenly asked him.

"About?"

"About not feeling bad about killing him."

"I thought you said you could no longer read my mind." Jensen questioned.

"Indeed, I can't but just by watching you I can tell what you are thinking." Xal'Zyraeth chuckled.

"Why do you care?"

"The longer you keep those feelings bottled up, one day they would erupt and it would not be pretty."

"Well, I don't want to talk about it." Jensen replied coldly, "I have something better to do."

Xal'Zyraeth was silent as he watched Jensen move to make sure Edward was really dead before he turned around and left.

Ever since the time Jensen came into his trial space, he had read his memories, and he could tell even after killing those people he was still struggling with it and was simply ignoring them.

He claimed he saved Daisaku for his so-called plan but that was only a way to avoid killing the old man.

The same with the Evangelina girl although his reason was far more valid.

Xal'Zyraeth wanted to help but his hands were truly bound in this matter especially if Jensen himself was trying to ignore it.

He had tried to help him with it during the third trial by telling Jensen about his own view on morals but even he knew it was best Jensen resolved it himself.

***

Jensen waited for a bit before moving closer to confirm Edward's death.

It had been far too easy to engineer the death of someone as a Mind Path awakened especially if they were Unawakened.

All he had to do was find a lowlife drug user which wasn't very hard to do. He planted the thought that the man needed money for more drugs.

All he had to do was put some suggestions in the lowlife's head to come towards the good part of town searching for a good target.

He put suggestions in Edward head to go for a walk in the same direction the lowlife was and viola.

Given the current location, his body wouldn't be discovered until tomorrow morning.

Exactly as he wanted it but that wasn't all for today.

He turned around and left.

His current destination was Lily Baker's apartment.

***

Lily walked into her apartment; she aggressively kicked off her shoes and threw her handbag to the ground.

She wanted to scream but she took a deep sigh before going to her mini bar and grabbing a drink.

She poured herself a hard liquor and just chugged it down.

Even when her cousin was most likely dead, her uncle kept suppressing her in the of chance that his son came back.

After her father's death her uncle was the first person she turned to but it did not take her long to realize that her father was indeed right when he told her to be careful of his brother.

Thankfully he made sure his daughter was protected from been kicked out of the company.

He also made sure if she died her uncle would not benefit from it.

The more she thought about it the more she began to think that just maybe her father's death wasn't an accident.

Just thinking about the last few hours where she tried to secure her position as the heir, but her uncle had done nothing but hinder her made her blood boil.

*Beep* *Beep* *Beep* *Beep*

She turned to her alarm system that also connected her to the lobby below.

She moved towards it and answered it.

"Hello Mr. Tim."

"Hello Miss Lily, there is a man down here claiming to be your friend."

Lily frowned, 'A male friend? Since when…'

In order to secure a marriage alliance with an elite she had made sure to prevent actions that would lead to rumours.

This included partying, drinking in public, male relationships, including lovers or even regular male friends.

The only sexual activity she had partaken in was with her best friend that swung that way and no matter what they did she ensured her hymen remained intact.

Her thinking was simple, men of that calibre would have ridiculously high standard, and she hoped this would somewhat bridge the gap.

"What did he say his name is?" She asked.

"Jensen Morvath."

'Morvath… I have never heard of that name before… who could he possibly be.' Just as he considered sending him off, Tim's voice came again but this time trembling.

"He says he has a deal for you." Tim murmured before saying in an even lowered voice, "I think he is an Awakened."

Her eyes immediately flashed, any other time she would have simply sent him away or asked him to meet her in a more open space but not today.

At this point she was sure her uncle would try to give birth to another child just to ensure she couldn't get her hands on the family legacy.

She had begun to hear rumours that he was going out and she didn't know many Unawakened or even awakened but less talented women that wouldn't jump on him.

"Send him up please."

"Yes ma'am." The line went dead.

Lily looked around her apartment and hurriedly tidied it as best as she could.

She hid the glass cup and returned to bottle back to it original position.

She did a final inspection of the room before she made her way out to the elevator that led up to her floor.

It didn't take long for the elevator to reach her floor and opened up.

Inside was Mr. Tim and a young handsome man who she could only assume was Jensen Morvath.

"Hello Mr. Morvath." She stretched her hands forward for a handshake which Jensen proactively grasped.

"Hello Miss Baker, very good to meet you." Jensen responded with a smile.
