The golem stood over him about to hit him some more. A metal pipe flew in from nowhere and hit the golem in the head.
This got the golem's attention. They all turned to see Peter standing at the edge of the platform.
"What are you doing, run!" Nathan screamed and Peter ran down the stairs and the golem was right behind him.
Nathan looked around for something that could help. He tried to get up but the pain in his back discouraged him.
He slithered as he searched. Soon he found a flare gun. Nathan pointed it at the man.
"Call it off?" he said and looked in the direction of the stairs.
"A flare gun, what are you going to do with that?" the man asked and chuckled.
He heard the stomping footsteps of the golem waiting for it to come. The golem screamed as it charged at him.
His hand swayed as he thought of where to shoot the golem. As it got closer Nathan fires the flare into its mouth. Its mouth lit bright red as the flare burned.
The golem suddenly stopped and a piece of him fell off. It hardened and fell shattering into a thousand pieces.
"No!" the man screamed and ran to the fallen golem. He picked up a piece and took out a piece of burnt paper.
"You, this is all your fault," the man said and picked up a sculpting tool.
Nathan smiled.
He was walking towards Nathan when someone tapped him on the shoulder.
He turned only for Peter to knock him out with a mean right hook. He tied his hands behind him with a ribbon and helped Nathan up.
Meanwhile, miles away in the car with Mark. The clone of Nathan turned into a pile of mud. The sudden transformation made Mark nearly skid off the road.
"Golem, of course," Mark said and turned the car back around.
In the sewers, as Peter helped Nathan he asked, "How did you know that would work?"
"You said the head was the weak point remember. I just needed the flare to burn as long as possible. Anywhere else and it would have just bounced off it," Nathan explained.
Peter smiled proud of himself. When they got back to the others they were already leaving. The head of clay had subsided revealing a path that let out.
The crowd drew attention letting cops arrive at the scene moments later. Ambulance and other emergency personnel came to assist.
Some cops went into the sewer to arrest the golem's master. The EMT assisted the victims.
Mark got there just as Nathan was being placed into an ambulance. All the while Peter stayed by his side until he saw his mother.
He ran towards her and hugged her. He later introduced his mother to him and she thanked him.
"I guess you solved your first case," Mark said to Nathan as Peter and his mother walked away.
