CHAPTER 28: THE SYNC OF SHADOWS
Dust clouds fell from the ceiling of the underground city. THOOM… THOOM… Those heavy steps were now right at the door. Sirens blared continuously, and red warning lights flashed across the cave walls.
Captain Zero took command. "Prepare the barricades! No one retreats!" The Resistance fighters immediately took their positions.
Aryan gripped his metal rod tightly. A faint black glow pulsed through the S-01 tattoo on his hand. Beside him stood Kael, his Vibro-Swords vibrating with a low blue light. Kael smirked. "Scared, 'Messiah'?" His voice held a tease, but his eyes were deadly serious.
Aryan replied without looking at him— "Focus on your swords, Kael. I'll handle the rest."
Kael chuckled softly. "We'll see."
Suddenly— BOOM!!
The main door exploded into shards. Through the smoke and debris, three massive Purge Sentinels marched in. Their bodies were made of shimmering chrome, their eyes glowing red sensors, and their hands replaced by massive laser cannons.
Their cold, mechanical voice echoed: "Unauthorized human settlement detected. Initiating purge."
Panic spread through the crowd. Captain Zero shouted— "Fire!" The Resistance soldiers opened fire, but the bullets had little effect on the Sentinels.
"Aryan, on the right!" Kael suddenly sprinted up the wall. His speed was like lightning. He leaped and landed directly on the head of the first Sentinel. CLANG! His Vibro-Sword struck the robot's neck, sending sparks flying.
On the other side, Aryan charged toward the center Sentinel. It fired a laser—a blue beam cutting through the air. But this time, Aryan didn't release his Shunya Energy. He concentrated it inside his body. His rod glowed.
[SYSTEM ALERT: KINETIC ABSORPTION ACTIVE]
The laser hit his rod—and the energy was absorbed into it. The crowd stood stunned. Aryan leaped and drove his rod straight into the Sentinel's energy core. BOOOOM! A black energy explosion followed, and the robot instantly crashed into a heap of metal.
But the third Sentinel was the most dangerous. Its chest opened, releasing a spherical device: GRAVITY ANCHOR. Suddenly, the gravity in the area intensified. Both Aryan and Kael were slowed down. Kael tried to swing his sword, but his arm felt like lead.
"It's pinning us down!" The Sentinel turned its laser cannon toward Aryan.
Aryan looked toward the control tower. There stood Iris, holographic screens floating before her. Streams of data sparkled in her eyes. Aryan shouted— "Iris! Now!"
Iris's eyes suddenly flashed gold. Light spread across the S-02 tattoo on her hand.
[SKILL ACTIVATED: DUAL SYNC v0.5]
Suddenly, a strange connection formed between Aryan's black energy and Kael's blue swords. It was as if a 'Glitch' had appeared in the air. The Gravity Anchor began to crack.
Kael said in surprise— "What is this—"
Aryan didn't waste a second. He tossed Kael into the air. Kael spun upward, his Vibro-Swords gleaming. SLASH! The first cannon was severed. SLASH! The second one followed. The Sentinel faltered.
Aryan swung his rod for the final blow. THUD! The robot was reduced to scrap.
Silence filled the arena as the smoke cleared. Then, voices rose from the crowd: "Awakener… Awakener…"
Kael sheathed his swords and walked up to Aryan. For the first time, he extended his hand. "Not bad… warrior." This time, he didn't say "Messiah." Aryan took his hand. "This is just the beginning."
Captain Zero stepped forward, his face filled with concern. "Aryan is right. The Architect has found us." He turned on a screen showing an old map. A glowing point appeared in the deep Wasteland. "This is the Ancient Relay Station. If we reach it, we can block the Architect's signal entirely."
Silence fell in the cave. Aryan looked toward the dark tunnel. A cold wind was blowing from it. A new journey awaited him. He rested his rod on his shoulder and said softly— "Then… let the exploration begin."
Their shadows slowly vanished into the dark tunnel. But they did not know—in the Wasteland, it wasn't just ruins waiting for them… but the Architect's oldest secret.
