CHAPTER 33: THE LOGIC TRAP
Leaving the chaos above the city behind, Aryan and Iris descended into the narrow metallic tunnel leading toward the Ancient Core. As they went deeper, the air grew colder. Faint blue moss on the walls glowed in the dim light. From somewhere in the distance, the pulse of a massive machine echoed: THUM… THUM… THUM…
Iris whispered, "That… is the Ancient Core." Aryan gripped the Reset Data Disk in his pocket. His S-01 tattoo began to glow with a faint golden light, as if recognizing the Core's presence. Soon, they reached a vast circular chamber. The door slid open.
In the center of the room stood a massive pillar. Pulsing within it was the Ancient Core, made of thousands of data lines and energy streams—the heart of the entire underground city. Iris spoke with excitement, "If we plug the Reset Disk here… the Architect's control might break."
Aryan stepped forward. But as he neared the Core, the entire room suddenly flickered. The scene fractured, and in the next instant, they were no longer in the chamber. Before them stood a vast, elegant old library—wooden shelves, ancient books, and soft rays of sunlight.
Aryan immediately raised his rod. "What is this? Are we back in a simulation?"
Iris closed her eyes, sensing the code. After a few seconds, her voice grew heavy. "No… this is a Logic Trap. The Architect is using our memories against us. If we make the wrong choice here… our data could be deleted forever."
A table stood in the center of the library. Two old data-chips lay upon it. The first was labeled RESET. The second was labeled IRIS'S HUMANITY. Suddenly, a voice echoed throughout the library: The Architect.
"Subject-01… You are the Awakener. But are you also a savior?" His voice was cold. "If you choose Reset, the whole world will wake up. But Iris's existence will vanish. She will remain nothing but data." After a pause, he continued, "And if you choose Iris, she will become human again. But all of humanity will remain forever imprisoned in my simulation."
Aryan's hands began to tremble. He looked at Iris. Tears welled in her eyes as she whispered, "Don't look at me… I am a prototype. I was created for this very day."
Silence filled the room. The Architect's voice boomed again: "So tell me, Awakener… what will you choose?"
Suddenly, cracks appeared on the library walls. Faint digital lines shimmered in the air—the Dual Sync between S-01 and S-02. At that moment, a familiar voice echoed in Aryan's mind: Meera.
"Aryan… the Architect's logic is incomplete. He does not understand the Void (Shunya). You must look beyond the two choices."
A flash of understanding lit Aryan's eyes. He looked at the two chips and smiled faintly. "So this is your trap…" Aryan raised his metal rod and struck the table with all his might. BOOOOM!
The entire library shattered like glass. The vision dissolved, and in the next instant, they were back in the Ancient Core Chamber. An old photograph floated in the air before the Core. Iris saw it, and her eyes widened.
In the picture, a little girl was laughing. It was Iris. And standing beside her was another woman: Meera. Iris's voice trembled. "Aryan… my mother wasn't just the Architect's associate… she was… your mother's best friend." She spoke softly, "We… we were together as children."
This information spread through the system like a glitch. Aryan understood everything. Their bond wasn't just about the mission; it was ancient. Without delay, Aryan thrust the Reset Data Disk into the Core's terminal. The screen instantly blazed:
SYSTEM ALERT
ANCIENT CORE REBOOTING
DUAL PROTOCOL ACTIVATING
Golden energy erupted from the Core. Above in the city, people's eyes began to return to normal. The Architect's mind control was breaking.
But then, a dark digital hand emerged from the shadows of the Core. It suddenly gripped Iris's throat, lifting her into the air. The Architect's voice was even more terrifying this time: "You loaded the code… Awakener. But a price must be paid."
Iris's body began to turn transparent. She was being deleted. Black and golden energy sparked in Aryan's eyes. The war was not over. The real battle was just beginning.
