The next morning was calm and beautiful.
Soft sunlight slowly spread across the garden. The green grass looked fresh and bright in the morning light. A cool and gentle breeze was blowing through the trees. Birds were sitting on the branches and singing sweet songs. Somewhere in the garden, a butterfly flew from one flower to another.
Everything looked peaceful.
But inside the garden of Asif Babu's house, there was a strange excitement today.
Today was the day when the big stone in the corner of the garden would finally be moved.
For many years, the stone had been lying there without moving. No one knew how it came there or why it was placed in that exact spot.
Some people believed it was just an ordinary stone.
But others thought there might be something hidden under it.
Rahim arrived early in the morning.
He walked into the garden and looked at the stone quietly. Soon after, two strong workers entered the garden with him. They were carrying iron rods, thick ropes, and some other tools needed for heavy work.
The workers stopped near the stone and looked at it carefully.
One worker scratched his head and said in surprise,
"This stone is really big."
The other worker nodded slowly.
"Yes. It looks very heavy. Moving it will not be easy."
Rahim looked at the stone with a serious face.
He already knew that the work would be difficult.
Just then, Asif Babu slowly walked into the garden.
He was holding his usual wooden stick. His steps were slow, but his eyes were sharp and curious.
He stopped in front of the stone and looked at it for a moment.
Then he spoke in a calm but firm voice.
"Start the work."
Rahim immediately nodded.
"Yes, Babu."
The workers began to move around the stone. They examined it carefully from every side. After looking at it for a while, they decided to push the iron rods under the stone.
One worker pushed the rod into the soil near the edge of the stone.
The other worker helped him.
Soon, the iron rod was placed under the stone.
"Ready?" one worker asked.
The other worker nodded.
They both pushed the rod with all their strength.
But the stone did not move.
Not even a little.
The worker wiped sweat from his forehead and said,
"This stone is very heavy."
Asif Babu stood quietly and watched everything.
Then he said in a serious voice,
"Try again."
The workers took a deep breath and tried again.
This time they pushed harder.
Their muscles tightened as they used all their strength.
The ground shook slightly.
Then suddenly a deep sound came from the soil.
"Grrrr…"
The stone moved a little.
Rahim's eyes became bright with excitement.
"It moved!" he said happily.
A small smile appeared on Asif Babu's face.
"Good," he said.
"Keep going."
The workers continued pushing the rod.
Slowly, the stone began to move a little to one side.
But the work was not easy.
The stone was extremely heavy.
After several minutes of pushing and pulling, the workers became very tired.
They stepped back and started breathing heavily.
Rahim looked at them and said,
"Take a short rest."
The workers nodded and walked a little away from the stone.
They sat down under a tree for a few minutes.
The sun had risen higher in the sky now. The garden looked brighter. The smell of flowers was floating in the air.
But everyone's mind was focused on only one thing.
The mysterious stone.
After resting for a while, the workers stood up again.
This time they decided to use a rope.
They wrapped the thick rope around the stone and held the other end tightly.
"All together," Rahim said.
The three men prepared themselves.
"One… two… three!"
They pulled the rope with all their strength.
The stone slowly began to move again.
"Grrrrrr…"
A loud grinding sound came from the ground.
Dust rose into the air.
Suddenly, the stone moved more than before.
Just then, one worker suddenly shouted loudly.
"Stop!"
Everyone immediately froze.
Rahim looked at him with surprise.
"What happened?" he asked.
The worker pointed toward the ground under the stone.
"Look there!"
Everyone quickly bent down and looked carefully.
Under the stone, a dark opening was slowly becoming visible in the soil.
Rahim leaned closer to the ground and looked carefully inside.
His eyes suddenly became wide.
He slowly turned toward Asif Babu.
"Babu…" he said quietly.
"There is a hole here."
Asif Babu immediately stepped forward.
He looked down at the opening with great interest.
"Move the stone a little more," he said.
The workers pushed again.
With great effort, they moved the stone a little further.
Now everyone could clearly see the opening.
It was a round hole in the ground.
It looked deep and dark.
Cold air was slowly coming out from inside.
The workers looked at each other nervously.
One of them whispered,
"This place feels strange…"
The other worker said quietly,
"Maybe it is an old tunnel."
Rahim remained silent.
But Asif Babu looked very curious.
He stared at the hole for a long moment.
Then he said,
"Bring a lantern."
Rahim nodded quickly.
"Yes, Babu."
He ran toward the house.
After a few minutes, he returned with an old lantern.
He lit the lantern and carefully held it over the hole.
The warm yellow light slowly entered the darkness.
Everyone stood quietly and watched.
The light moved deeper into the hole.
Suddenly something inside reflected the light.
It shined brightly for a moment.
Rahim looked more carefully.
His voice trembled with surprise.
"Babu… I think there is something inside."
Asif Babu stepped closer.
"What do you see?" he asked.
Rahim lowered the lantern a little more.
Then he spoke again.
"It looks like… a box."
"A box?" Asif Babu repeated slowly.
Rahim moved the lantern again to see better.
Yes.
Inside the hole there was a wooden box.
The box looked very old.
It was covered with dust and soil.
It seemed that the box had been hidden there for many years.
The workers stared at it with wide eyes.
One of them spoke with excitement.
"Babu… maybe it is treasure!"
Another worker looked worried.
"Or maybe it is something dangerous…"
But Asif Babu did not look afraid.
Instead, his eyes were full of curiosity.
He slowly walked closer to the hole and looked into the darkness.
Then he spoke in a calm voice.
"We must bring the box up."
Rahim looked surprised.
"Right now?" he asked.
Asif Babu slowly nodded.
"Yes. Right now."
The air in the garden suddenly felt heavy and mysterious.
No one knew what was hidden inside that old box.
But one thing was certain.
The box had been hidden under that stone for many years.
And whatever was inside it…
might change everything.
