Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Stranger in the Dark

Rahim and Karim stood quietly inside the small hidden room. Both of them were still thinking about the footsteps they heard.

Karim whispered, "Rahim… someone was really here."

Rahim nodded slowly.

"Yes. And I don't think it was just a random person."

Karim looked worried.

"Do you think that person knows about the crystal?"

Rahim looked at the glowing crystal in his hand.

"Maybe. That is why we must be very careful."

The house was very quiet again.

Rahim slowly stepped out of the room and looked into the hall.

No one was there.

Karim followed him.

"Should we check the house?" Karim asked.

Rahim thought for a moment.

"Yes. But we must stay together."

They started walking through the hall slowly.

The floor made soft sounds under their feet.

The windows were open, and the wind was blowing inside.

Everything felt strange and silent.

Suddenly, Karim stopped.

"Look!" he said softly.

Rahim looked in the same direction.

Near the door, they saw something on the floor.

Rahim walked closer.

It was a footprint.

Karim said, "Someone really came here."

Rahim nodded.

"Yes. And it looks fresh."

Karim looked nervous.

"What should we do now?"

Rahim said, "We should follow the footprints."

Karim hesitated for a moment, but then he nodded.

"Okay."

They slowly followed the footprints.

The marks led them toward the back side of the house.

The back door was slightly open.

Rahim said, "The person went outside."

Karim said, "Let's go."

They carefully stepped outside.

It was getting dark.

The sky was almost black.

The footprints continued on the ground.

Rahim used the crystal to see better.

The crystal started glowing brighter.

Suddenly, a faint line of light appeared again.

Karim said, "The crystal is showing us the way!"

Rahim nodded.

"Yes. Let's follow it."

They followed the glowing path.

It led them toward the forest again.

Karim said, "Why would someone go to the forest?"

Rahim said, "Maybe they know about the cave."

Karim looked serious.

"That means they know about everything."

Rahim tightened his grip on the crystal.

"We must stop them."

The boys entered the forest again.

The trees looked darker at night.

Strange sounds were coming from everywhere.

Karim said softly, "This is scary."

Rahim said, "Stay close."

They followed the glowing path deeper into the forest.

After some time, they saw a shadow moving ahead.

Karim whispered, "Rahim… someone is there!"

Rahim stopped.

They both hid behind a tree.

The shadow moved slowly.

It looked like a person wearing a long coat.

Karim said, "Who is that?"

Rahim said, "We need to find out."

They slowly followed the person.

The person walked toward the cave.

Karim said, "He is going to the cave!"

Rahim said, "Then he knows about the crystal."

They followed quietly.

The person entered the cave.

Rahim and Karim waited for a moment.

Then Rahim said, "Let's go."

They entered the cave again.

The air was cold and dark.

They could see a faint light inside.

They walked slowly.

Soon they reached the big underground room.

The place where the crystal was before.

The strange person was standing there.

He was looking around.

Karim whispered, "What is he doing?"

Rahim said, "Maybe he is looking for the crystal."

Suddenly, the person turned around.

He saw Rahim and Karim.

"Who are you?" the man asked in a deep voice.

Both boys were surprised.

Rahim said bravely, "Who are you?"

The man smiled.

"I am someone who knows the secrets of this place."

Karim felt scared.

Rahim said, "Why are you here?"

The man looked at the crystal in Rahim's hand.

"So, you found it," he said.

Rahim held the crystal tightly.

"Yes. And we will not give it to you."

The man laughed.

"You don't understand. That crystal is very powerful."

Rahim said, "We know."

The man stepped closer.

"Then give it to me," he said.

Karim whispered, "Rahim…"

Rahim said firmly, "No."

The man's face became serious.

"You are making a mistake," he said.

Suddenly, the ground shook again.

A loud growl filled the cave.

Karim said, "The wolf!"

From the darkness, the big wolf appeared again.

It looked angry.

The man stepped back.

"What is that?" he said.

Rahim said, "The guardian of the crystal."

The wolf moved closer.

It looked at the man.

Then it growled loudly.

The man looked scared.

Rahim and Karim stepped back slowly.

The wolf stood between them and the man.

Rahim whispered, "The wolf is protecting us."

Karim nodded.

"Yes."

The man slowly stepped back.

"This is not over," he said.

Then he quickly ran out of the cave.

Rahim and Karim watched him go.

The cave became quiet again.

The wolf looked at the boys.

This time, it did not look angry.

It looked calm.

Rahim said softly, "Thank you."

The wolf slowly turned and walked back into the darkness.

Karim took a deep breath.

"That was close," he said.

Rahim nodded.

"Yes. Now we know something important."

Karim asked, "What?"

Rahim said, "We are not the only ones who want the crystal."

Karim looked serious.

"Yes. And that makes this more dangerous."

Rahim looked at the crystal.

"It will help us. But we must protect it."

Karim nodded.

"Yes. We will."

The boys slowly walked out of the cave.

Their adventure was becoming bigger and more dangerous.

But they were ready...
