"Miss Eva."
A familiar voice echoed in my head, soft at first, like someone calling from far away.
"Miss Eva."
This time it sounded more urgent. I finally forced my eyes open and saw Alina standing right beside the bed. For a split second, my mind was foggy; at first, I thought she was a stranger, but then everything clicked back into place.
"Oh... hey, Alina,"
I mumbled, letting out a long yawn. My left hand automatically rose to cover my mouth. It was an old habit. When I was younger, a bug flew straight into my mouth while I was yawning, and ever since that day I've covered it without thinking.
Alina stood there quietly, her hands clasped in front of her.
"I was worried,"
She said in that same calm voice as yesterday.
"You haven't eaten anything since yesterday."
Her words made me pause. Yesterday? My stomach answered before I could speak, a loud, embarrassing growl echoed in the quiet room.
I pushed myself up slowly, still feeling heavy and disoriented.
