"You shouldn't have done that, Miss Eva."
Alina said as she helped me up from the floor. I practically collapsed onto the couch because my legs were still shaky and my back throbbed with a dull, aching pain from the impact.
"Didn't know she could fight."
I took the glass of cold water Alina brought and drank it slowly. The chill slid down my throat and helped a little, cooling the heat of embarrassment and frustration still burning in my chest.
"Miss Volkov handles one-third of the people under her. Of course she's strong."
"She did what?"
I looked at Alina in genuine surprise. Was she telling the truth? I had always thought Diana just messed around and threw tantrums, but she actually worked alongside Daniel? That changed things.
"You didn't know that?"
"How would I know that?" I muttered, still processing. "Whatever. How about you help me choose a dress to wear tonight?"
