Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - The Fall

For a brief moment, the world seemed to pause.

Lily Carter lay in AdrianBlake's arms, her wide eyes filled with confusion and fear. The bright lights of the runway shone down on them while whispers spread quickly through the audience.

Adrian stared at her with cold irritation.

Then abruptly, he pushed her away.

Lily stumbled backward, nearly losing her balance.

Before she could speak, two security guards rushed forward and grabbed her arms tightly.

"Take her away," Adrian ordered sharply.

The command was firm and final.

The guards dragged Lily backstage while she struggled to free herself.

"Wait! I didn't do anything!" she cried.

But no one listened.

Adrian turned toward the photographers who were still snapping pictures.

His expression darkened.

"Not a single photograph from tonight leaves this building," he said coldly.

The photographers immediately lowered their cameras.

No one dared disobey Adrian Blake.

Across the city, anxiety was slowly spreading inside the Carter home.

Emily sat in her wedding dress, her hands trembling in her lap as she kept glancing toward the front gate.

Lily still hadn't returned.

Guests had begun whispering among themselves.

"Where did the younger sister go?"

"This doesn't look good…"

Aunt Margaret approached Emily with concern.

"Do you know where Lily is?"

Emily shook her head helplessly.

"I don't know."

Her heart pounded nervously.

Meanwhile, at Crystal Manor, the guards shoved Lily into a small empty room and slammed the door shut.

The loud click of the lock echoed in the silence.

Lily rushed to the door and knocked desperately.

"Please let me out! I need to go home!"

Outside, one of Adrian's assistants spoke quietly to the guards.

"Find out who sent her."

The guards entered the room again, their tone harsh.

"Who sent you?" one of them demanded.

Lily blinked in confusion.

"What?"

"Stop pretending," another guard snapped. "Who told you to ruin the show?"

Lily shook her head rapidly.

"I didn't ruin anything! I came here by mistake!"

Her voice trembled with fear.

The guards exchanged suspicious looks.

Then the door opened again.

Adrian walked into the room.

The atmosphere immediately turned tense.

Back at the Carter house, the situation had grown worse.

Helen paced nervously across the living room.

"Lily is missing… and the house documents are gone too!"

Robert looked shocked.

"What do you mean?"

Emily's heart sank.

What had Lily done?

Inside the locked room at Crystal Manor, Lily stood nervously as Adrian approached her slowly.

His expression was unreadable.

"Who sent you?" he asked calmly.

Lily shook her head.

"No one."

Adrian's eyes narrowed.

"I don't like lies."

"I'm not lying!" Lily protested desperately.

"I came here by mistake. Please… I need to go home urgently."

Adrian remained completely unmoved.

"Tell the truth."

"My sister's wedding will be ruined if I don't get back," Lily pleaded.

Adrian's voice turned colder.

"Then let it be ruined."

The words hit Lily like a slap.

Anger suddenly replaced her fear.

"Fine!" she snapped.

"But if your sister's wedding was ruined like that, how would you feel?"

The room fell silent.

Adrian's expression darkened instantly.

Fury flashed in his eyes.

He grabbed Lily's arm and pulled her closer.

"Don't you dare speak about my sister," he said through clenched teeth.

In the struggle, his hand caught the string tied behind her blouse and accidentally pulled it loose.

Lily gasped in shock.

Her long hair immediately fell forward as she quickly pulled it around herself to cover her back.

For a moment they stared at each other.

Lily's eyes burned with humiliation and anger.

She pulled her arm free.

Without another word, she turned and rushed out of the room.

Back at the Carter house, tension filled the air.

A few neighbors had begun whispering cruel remarks.

"These girls nowadays…"

Aunt Margaret immediately turned on them.

"Watch your words!" she snapped sharply.

The whispers stopped.

Just then Robert returned from searching the nearby streets.

His face looked tired and worried.

Emily was about to explain everything when suddenly—

They heard the familiar sound of a scooter approaching.

Emily's eyes lit up instantly.

"Lily!"

Relief flooded her face.

Lily slowly walked through the gate.

But something felt wrong.

Everyone was standing outside.

The music had stopped.

The decorations looked lifeless.

Lily's stomach tightened.

"What happened?" she asked quietly.

No one answered.

Then she heard someone whisper the terrible words.

"The wedding has been called off."

Lily looked around at the abandoned decorations, the empty chairs, and the disappointed guests.

Guilt filled her chest.

Helen walked toward her silently and led her inside.

The moment the door closed, the anger erupted.

"Where were you?" Helen demanded.

Aunt Margaret added sharply,

"And why did you take the house documents?"

Robert looked at Lily seriously.

"Yes, Lily. Why did you take them?"

Lily lowered her head.

"I went to meet Daniel," she said quietly.

Everyone stared at her in shock.

"I wanted to show him the documents… to prove that Dad had arranged the money."

Her voice trembled.

"I thought if he knew the truth, he would stop his family."

Tears filled her eyes.

"I'm sorry."

But Helen's anger did not fade.

"You ruined everything!" she cried.

Aunt Margaret shook her head disapprovingly.

"If you were truly Emily's sister," she said harshly, "you would never have done this."

The words cut deeply.

But Helen's next words were even worse.

"You are not my daughter."

The room went completely silent.

Lily stood frozen.

Her heart shattered.

She couldn't even speak.

She turned slowly toward Emily.

"I never meant for this to happen," she whispered.

Emily immediately hugged her tightly.

"I know," she said softly.

"It's not your fault."

Later that night, the sisters lay quietly in their bedroom.

Emily eventually fell asleep from exhaustion.

But Lily remained awake, staring at the ceiling.

Helen's words echoed painfully in her mind.

You are not my daughter.

Tears rolled silently down her cheeks.

Unable to bear the pain any longer, Lily slowly got up.

The house was dark and silent.

She walked outside toward their family bakeryshop.

Inside, shelves were filled with sweets prepared for the wedding celebration.

Lily picked up a bottle of oil with trembling hands.

Then she struck a match.

The small flame flickered in the darkness.

Its light reflected in her tear-filled eyes.

And in that quiet moment, standing alone among the sweets meant for a wedding that never happened—

Lily felt completely broken.
