Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 - Lily Enters Greenwood Manor

The grand mansion known as Greenwood Manor stood quietly under the afternoon sun.

From the outside, the house looked elegant and peaceful.

But inside, it carried years of complicated family relationships and unspoken emotions.

In the middle of the living room stood Marina Blake, watching Grandmother Eleanor Blake carefully.

For a moment, it seemed as if Eleanor was finally being kind to her.

Marina's expression softened with hope.

For nearly twenty-five years she had lived in this house as a daughter-in-law, yet she had never truly felt accepted. Eleanor had always been distant — polite, but cold. Marina had learned to live with it, but the longing to be acknowledged by the family had never completely disappeared.

So when Eleanor spoke gently, even briefly, it touched something deep inside her.

But the moment didn't last.

Eleanor soon walked past her and went straight to her beloved pet goat, Daisy.

Marina's hopeful expression slowly faded.

To make matters worse, she realized something that irritated her deeply — the goat seemed to hold a higher place in Eleanor's heart than she did.

Nearby, Adrian Blake stood impatiently, waiting for the prayer ceremony to begin.

His eyes moved restlessly around the room, as if every second of waiting felt unnecessary.

Eleanor noticed his impatience immediately.

"You should learn patience," she said calmly. "There are things in life that are more important than money."

Adrian said nothing.

Those words meant very little to him at that moment.

Patience was not something Adrian believed in. His entire life had been built on speed, control, and determination.

And the idea that anything could be more important than money felt completely opposite to the way he viewed the world.

Still, he remained silent and joined the ceremony when it began.

His sister Angela Blake guided him gently through the rituals.

Adrian followed them carefully.

Despite his modern outlook and powerful business reputation, he respected the traditions of his family. When the sacred offering was distributed, Adrian accepted it properly and respectfully.

It was clear that these customs were not unfamiliar to him.

Later, Adrian stepped out into the garden behind the mansion.

This place felt different from the rest of the house.

Quiet. Peaceful.

Here, Adrian kept a collection of plants that he cared for personally.

It was one of the few places where his restless mind seemed to slow down.

Angela joined him there, holding a small bowl.

She looked worried.

"My husband still isn't answering my calls," she said softly.

Adrian glanced at her phone and then back at her face.

He tried to lighten the mood.

"Have you annoyed him so much in two years that he avoids your calls now?" he teased.

Angela laughed and pretended to hit him lightly with a cushion.

Adrian smiled faintly.

Then his voice softened.

"He's probably busy with work, Angela."

Angela handed him the bowl she was holding.

"I brought you pudding," she said.

Adrian looked at it suspiciously.

"Is it sugar-free?"

"Yes."

He sighed quietly.

"Angela… I don't like it."

Angela laughed again.

Adrian had diabetes, which meant he had spent years avoiding sugar. Almost everything he ate had to be sugar-free.

Even though he complained, he still tasted the pudding.

Moments like this showed another side of Adrian.

Behind his strict personality was a brother who joked, teased, and cared deeply about his sister.

That side of him simply remained hidden from most of the world.

Later that evening, Angela spoke about destiny and patience.

Adrian shook his head firmly.

"I don't know how to live like that," he said. "I can't sit around waiting for destiny like other people."

His voice grew stronger.

"I make my own destiny."

The words sounded like a personal promise — something he believed completely.

At the same time, across Kingswood, Lily Carter and her sister Emily Carter were preparing to sleep.

But Lily couldn't stop talking.

She kept mentioning the same person again and again.

"That arrogant governor," she muttered.

Emily watched her carefully.

"Your mind seems stuck on that man again," she said with a small smile.

Lily immediately protested.

But Emily was right.

Even though Lily found Adrian rude and frustrating, she couldn't stop thinking about him.

And somehow, fate seemed determined to keep bringing them together.

The next morning, Lily prepared to help her aunt deliver hand-embroidered sarees to a wealthy household in Kingswood.

Her aunt complained loudly about expenses.

"Lily eats all the time," she grumbled. "At this rate our food budget will disappear!"

Emily reminded her gently that their saree business would help bring income.

Lily smiled brightly.

"I'll help too!"

Soon she climbed onto the back of a scooter driven by their friendly neighbor and began her journey.

As they drove through the busy streets of Kingswood, Lily nervously bit her nails.

She was trying to remember the address.

Was it Greenwood Manor… or Oakwood Manor?

When the scooter finally stopped in front of a large mansion, Lily stared in amazement.

The house was enormous.

Marble floors shone in the sunlight, and the grand entrance looked like something from a dream.

Lily stepped inside slowly, her eyes wide with wonder.

"Imagine the electricity bill for a place like this," she whispered to herself.

Just then, Angela noticed her standing at the doorway.

She approached with a warm smile.

"Come in," she said kindly.

Lily hesitated for a moment before stepping forward.

Without realizing the significance of the moment, she stepped into the house with her right foot first.

It was almost like a traditional welcome — the way a bride enters her husband's home.

But Lily had no idea what destiny had planned.

Angela quickly grew fond of her.

Lily's innocence, curiosity, and cheerful nature were impossible to ignore.

Meanwhile Lily continued looking around the mansion in amazement.

"This house is so big," she said. "How many people live here?"

Angela smiled mysteriously.

"You'll find out."

Soon Lily found herself alone in a quiet hallway while a servant ran after the family's mischievous goat.

Feeling lost, Lily folded her hands together.

"Please guide me," she whispered softly to the goddess she believed in.

Moments later she began walking down a corridor.

She stopped in front of a large door and pushed it open.

Inside was a huge bedroom — elegant, modern, and filled with quiet authority.

Lily looked around in shock.

"This room is enormous!" she exclaimed.

She wondered how many people lived there.

But the answer was simple.

Only one person lived in that room.

Adrian Blake.

Without realizing it, Lily Carter had just stepped into Adrian Blake's world.

A world filled with wealth, power, family traditions, and hidden emotions.

And very soon, the lives of Lily and Adrian would become impossible to separate.

Because destiny had already begun its work.
