Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - The Beginning of Fate

The city of Riverton buzzed with life under the golden afternoon sun.

Traffic flowed through crowded streets, street vendors called out to customers, and music drifted from open shop doors. In one quiet neighborhood stood a modest but cheerful house decorated with ribbons, flowers, and strings of warm lights.

Inside the courtyard, laughter filled the air.

A group of women sat in a circle on bright cushions, chatting excitedly. The smell of freshly fried sweets and baked pastries floated through the house.

It was a wedding day.

At the center of the courtyard stood Aunt Margaret, a lively woman in her late fifties with a commanding voice and a mischievous smile.

She looked around dramatically.

"Why is everyone sitting like statues?" she demanded. "This is a wedding, not a funeral! Someone start the music!"

The women burst into laughter.

An elderly lady beside her struggled to adjust her dentures. Margaret snatched them playfully and handed them back.

"Put these in properly," she said. "Today we must show our style!"

The old woman chuckled.

"Bring the younger girls to dance first," she said teasingly. "Then I'll show you real style."

The courtyard erupted with giggles again.

But behind all the laughter, a quiet storm was brewing.

Upstairs, near a large window overlooking the courtyard, Emily Carter stood silently.

She wore a beautiful bridal dress, but her hands trembled as she twisted the edge of her veil.

Behind her stood her younger sister, LilyCarter.

"Did he answer?" Lily asked softly.

Emily shook her head.

"No. Daniel isn't picking up his phone."

Tears gathered in her eyes.

"I'm scared, Lily."

She turned suddenly and grabbed her sister's hands.

"Are we doing the right thing?"

Lily frowned slightly.

Emily continued, her voice trembling.

"His family is asking for so much money. Dad had to mortgage the bakery just to arrange it."

Lily's eyes hardened.

"We are doing the right thing," she said firmly.

"Dad is doing this for you."

Then she added gently,

"And besides, I'm sure Daniel doesn't even know his family asked for that money."

Emily searched her sister's face.

"Aren't you scared?"

Lily paused for a moment.

"Yes," she admitted quietly.

"But you're not allowed to cry today."

Emily looked confused.

"We'll go," Lily said determinedly.

Back in the courtyard, Aunt Margaret had already begun singing loudly, completely off-key but full of enthusiasm.

Just then RobertCarter, the girls' father, walked slowly into the courtyard.

Someone offered him a plate of syrup-soaked pastries.

"Come on, Robert! Taste these!"

He forced a small smile and took a bite.

"They're good."

But his smile faded when he saw Emily.

His daughter.

His little girl was getting married today.

Emotion filled his eyes.

At that very moment, upstairs, Lily quickly tied the laces of her sneakers.

Her gaze fell on a folder lying on the table.

The mortgagepapers.

Downstairs, Robert had been pulled into the dancing by Aunt Margaret.

No one noticed Lily quietly coming down the stairs.

Or taking the folder.

Only Emily saw her.

Their eyes met.

Lily gave her a small reassuring wave.

Then she slipped out of the house.

Outside, Lily stood beside her small blue scooter.

"Come on, don't fail me now," she muttered.

After two tries, the engine finally started.

She folded her hands briefly toward the sky.

"God, please help me today."

Her eyes shone with determination.

"I'm going to talk to Daniel."

She shook her head.

"He can't be like his family. No decent man would demand money on his wedding day."

With that, she sped off into the busy streets.

Inside the house, Robert stood in a corner speaking anxiously on his phone.

"Yes… I've arranged fifty thousand," he said nervously.

"The remaining amount will come from the mortgage papers."

Just then his wife HelenCarter approached him.

"Was it Daniel's family?" she asked.

Robert nodded slowly.

A shadow crossed his face.

"Helen… I feel like I'm doing something wrong."

She looked surprised.

"What do you mean?"

"Is it right to send Emily into that family?" he asked quietly.

Helen shook her head firmly.

"We're the bride's family," she said.

"Our duty is to make this marriage happen."

Her eyes softened as she looked toward Emily.

"Our only dream has been to see our daughters settled."

Then Aunt Margaret suddenly appeared.

"Where is Lily?"

Robert and Helen exchanged worried looks.

They had no idea.

Meanwhile, Lily rode her scooter through the busy streets of Riverton.

Cars honked.

Pedestrians stared at her bridal-style outfit fluttering behind her.

A traffic officer blew his whistle and forced her to stop.

Two young men on a nearby motorcycle smirked.

"Looks like the bride ran away," one joked.

Lily ignored them.

To her right stood a family with a curious little boy staring at her.

She smiled.

"I'm actually going to a school drama competition," she said playfully.

"I'm dressed as a princess."

The boy blinked.

"Where's your prince?"

Lily instinctively looked up.

A helicopter roared across the sky.

Far away in the wealthy district of Kingswood, that helicopter slowly descended in front of a magnificent mansion.

Reporters crowded the entrance.

Cameras flashed wildly.

The helicopter door opened.

A tall man stepped out.

AdrianBlake.

One of the youngest and most powerful business tycoons in the country.

He removed his dark sunglasses and looked at the mansion before him.

The name engraved above the gates read:

CrystalManor

A reporter shouted,

"Mr. Blake! Your company handles billion-dollar international deals. Why return to Riverton for such a small property?"

Another asked,

"Is it true you have a personal connection with this place?"

Adrian said nothing.

But the moment he looked at the mansion—

Memories flashed through his mind.

A wedding.

A terrified bride.

People running through the halls.

A young boy shouting desperately:

"Mom!"

The vision vanished.

Adrian's face hardened.

Inside the mansion, a tense meeting was underway.

Adrian sat calmly while two businessmen argued.

Finally he signaled his assistant.

A silver case was placed on the table.

When it opened, stacks of money were revealed.

One man chuckled.

"This is far more than we agreed."

Adrian leaned forward slightly.

"Adrian Blake never misses a target."

His voice was calm but cold.

"Money isn't my hobby."

"It's my business."

He stood up and walked out.

Behind him someone whispered,

"You just sold Crystal Manor… to the most powerful man in the city."

At that exact moment, Lily's scooter stopped outside the grand gates of CrystalManor.

She stared up at the enormous building.

"This must be the place," she whispered.

Determined, she rushed inside.

She had no idea—

That within minutes, her life was about to collide with a man who lived in a completely different world.

And that meeting would change both their lives forever.

Inside the mansion, a glamorous fashion show was underway.

Models walked confidently down the runway.

Adrian sat in the front row, clearly bored.

At that moment, Lily accidentally wandered backstage.

Before she could protest—

Someone shoved her onto the runway.

She froze.

Hundreds of eyes stared at her.

Adrian slowly opened his eyes.

Their gazes met.

Panicking, Lily tried to run.

Her scarf tangled around her feet.

She stumbled.

And fell—

Straight into Adrian Blake's arms.

For a moment, the entire room seemed to stop.

Two strangers.

Two different worlds.

And the beginning of a story neither of them expected.
