Chapter 10 MAKING PROGRESS
Roman dashed through the forest path, glowing with fierceness and undying determination to reach his destination.
His eyes and perception were sharper now, able to see metres far, and his instinct at peak, scanning like a radar.
Jumping from one branch to another, he avoided certain beast hanging on the trees, not wanting to slow down yet, but of course most beast prefers to follow their primal instincts.
Roman's eyes darken as his senses picked up a sound behind him. As he jumped and spun to the side, a hot substance landed on his previous spot, melting the tree branch.
"That's nasty"
Roman held himself with one hand on a branch while his body dangled below. His second hand gripping the dagger which was already transforming to a sword.
"Will it kill you to mind your business"
Roman scoffed as he stared at the snake like beast with four arms running and crawling towards him.
It let out a hiss.
"Don't say I didn't warn you"
Roman let himself fall. He did a flip and landed on the ground and looked up, the snake was already upon him.
He jumped to the side, escaping another hot venom from the beast fangs, then ran forward with a burst of speed.
The beast excelled in speed too as it caught up to him in no time, taking advantage of its slippery body.
"Damn!"
Roman did a backflip, escaping another hot venom, then brought his sword down with a slash.
The beast stretched it's body in a strange way, escaping the sharpness of the blade.
"You really are quick"
Roman said as he distanced himself self from the beast.
He held his sword with both hands and stood.
The beast hissed as it paused it's advances waiting for an opening to strike.
Roman channeled more energy into his hands and blade, and in a quick motion, he swung his blade to the left and a red line of energy suddenly burst out from the tip of the blade.
The beast wasn't fast enough to avoid the sudden attack as it's head cleaved of its body without resistance.
Roman's eyes widen.
The red line of energy went on, cleaving multiple trees in its way before it finally disperse into the air.
"Did I just did that"
Roman slowly brought the sword to his face.
"I guess I haven't discovered what this sword can really do yet"
He walked towards the snake.
"That attack took a lot of energy, good thing I have a back up storage right here"
He sliced open the snake and took out the crystal and absorbed the energy into his body.
His ears perked up upon hearing the sound of flowing water.
"There's a river nearby, better rest up a little"
Following the sound of the water, he headed towards the direction and spotted a large river.
He looked towards the right and saw were the waters were flowing towards.
"A waterfall, cool"
Roman sat down and dipped his face into the water, gulping to his full.
"That was refreshing"
He sat down for a while and began to meditate.
"I haven't circulate my energy in a while now"
He concertrated on his dantian and spotted three glowing cores resting within.
"It's already three, it was still one before I left the village. No wonder I can store more spirit energy than before"
He focused on energy circulation, consciously directing is energy from his dantian to his waist, then it flowed towards his right leg then the left. It then directed it upward, flowing towards his chest, his eyes then both hands, then he directed it back to his dantian.
"That's better"
Energy circulation helps beast master to be able to expell their energy when needed.
Roman suddenly snapped his eyes open, but he was too slow to react.
A long beast like tentacle suddenly burst from the waters, wrapped around him, and pulled him.
"Whoaaa..."
**********
At another part of the forest, four were seen running for their dear lives.... Well most of them seems to be enjoying it.
Behind them, three massive wolf chased after them ferociously.
"They're catching up!"
Lan yelled.
"Relax, we just have to lure them to a corner"
Bryon replied.
He looked towards Billy and gave a signal.
Billy halted on his tracks and turned to face the wolves.
His body glowed as he released his spirit beast. The bear roared as it launched out and back handed one of the wolves. The wolf whimpered as it slammed into a nearby tree.
White ice particles suddenly burst from underneath the wolf, injury the beast and trapping it in place.
"I can't keep the ice up for too long!"
Bryon yelled
Slyver jumped from no where with her shield and bashed the wolf's head, ending it's life in the process.
"One down, two to go!"
Billy said.
The other two wolves had split in two paths but were still chasing after them.
One of them was already upon Lan.
"This is not good!"
Lan channel energy into his hands as he held the wolf's jaws in place.
"What the hell am I doing!!"
He yelled at himself while struggling to hold and prevent the beast from chopping down his fingers.
A white bear suddenly burst from the side and grabbed the wolf's neck with it's massive jaws then slammed it hard to the rough ground.
Taking the advantage, Lan poured more energy into his fist and slammed it on the wolf's head, killing it.
He breathed out then turned to the white bear.
"Thanks"
The bear growled and disappeared back into Bryon's body.
"I'm almost out of energy"
Bryon said, breathing hard.
"One more to go"
Billy ran towards the last wolf, pouring more energy into his hands
"Arrghhhhhhhhh"
He yelled as he smacked the beast in the face. He kept on pounding until he ran out of spirit energy.
The beast was already dead with blood all over the ground and Billy hard with rough breaths.
"Wow, you really showed it who's boss"
Lan said from behind.
Billy scoffed
"How do they expect us to fight danger beasts without weapons!!"
He yelled.
"Relax bro, at least we're making progress"
Bryon said
"Sylver is a really lucky girl to have one"
Lan added
They boys turned towards Slyver who was wiping blood of her shield.
She paused and then raised her head to look at them.
She frown, then walked away.
"She is so cute. I'm I the only one seeing it"
Lan smiled
Billy scoffed.
"Grab the crystals and let's go"
He walked away.
