Chapter 12 BEST FRIENDS 2
Roman laid beside a tree closely observing the beast crystal in his hands, his hair were still wet from the resent endeavors. Sylver wasn't left out, she laid beside him slowly parting water of her hair.
"I still can't believe we killed an advanced ranked beast. I've been avoiding them since I left the village"
He started, eyeing the bright glow of the crystal.
"Why did you leave the village?"
Sylver faced him.
He dropped the crystal beside him before answering.
"Mom sent me on a quest to get stronger. She was even happy with the fact that I didn't made the selection"
He scoffed.
"I'm sorry about that"
She lowered her head.
"It's alright Sylver, what's done is done"
He relaxed on the tree
"That reminds me, what are you doing here, I thought you left with the three Knights and the others"
She nodded
"Yeah, they're camping at the other side of the forest, I came here to wash my hair before you dropped from the sky"
He chuckled
"So wait, does that mean Billy is also there?"
She nodded.
Roman frowned.
"Stupid Billy, I'll show him when I get to Avalon one day"
"It's okay, I thought him a lesson he will never forget "
She said proudly with her arms folded.
Roman laughed.
"I'm sure you did"
Roman and Sylver has been friends for some time now. He had once defended her from some older kids but ended up being beaten instead, she took a liking to him that day and so did he. She was older with two years gap, but she still saw Roman as her big brother. The next day, she awakened her spirit beast and became stronger than the usual, and of course, she search for the kids who had beaten up Roman and taught them a lesson, Bryon not excluded.
"Can I come with you?"
Sylver stared a him with bright eyes.
"I'm sorry Sylver, but you can't, this is something I have to do by myself"
Her head slowly went down.
"Besides, if you come with me, the others will search for you"
"It's their business, I don't really care. They're so loud and annoying"
She pouted.
"But you have to deal with. I don't even know where I'm going yet. But the knights will help you get stronger. And that's our goal right?, to become stronger, so we can be royal knights in Avalon kingdom."
Roman explained and she nodded.
"Alright, but you better make sure you make it Avalon, or I'll come find you"
She said sternly causing Roman to laugh.
"It's a promise"
Roman grabbed the crystal and sat in a meditative pose.
"I'm gonna absorb the crystal to get my full strength back. It's an advanced ranked crystal, so I have a feeling it gonna be painful to bare. So watch my body, in case I pass out from screaming"
Slyver raised her brows
"What?"
"It's kinda of a long story"
She started at him for a while then summoned her shield. She raised it above her head and it transformed into a dome.
"I've made it sound proof. You won't be in much pain right?"
She asked with a worried look.
"I can't make any promises Sylver, but it's a pain I have to handle if I'm gonna get stronger "
He clenched his fist ✊
"Okay, I'll be right here, every step of the way"
Roman nodded then focused on the crystal. He took a deep breath, then absorb the crystal's energy.
At first, nothing happen, then....it happened.
A loud screaming suddenly escaped his mouth as pain gripped him.
Sylver's eyes widen in fright as she watched him suffered from the raging storm of pain. Not wanting to continue any longer, she smacked the back of his head.... and he passed out, yet his body still shook vigorously.

Roman snapped his eyes open and spranged up.
He smiled, feeling the new wave of strength overwhelming him.
He faced Slyver who gave him a Stern look.
"What?"
He questioned
"It wasn't nice seeing you like that you no"
She stood.
"I'm sorry about that, but I'm okay now, better even"
He looked around, the sun was still up in the sky.
"How long was I out?"
"Around thirty minutes I think"
She guessed "but not long"
"That's an improvement compared to last time"
He picked up his katana then returned it to the shape of the dagger.
"I like your sword"
Sylver said
"Thanks. A gift from Mom, from Dad actually. It's a long story."
He turned to face her with a smile.
"I guess you'll be leaving now"
She lowered her head.
"I'll miss you too Sylver. Be strong for me, okay?"
"Okay"
She moved closer to him and wrapped her arms around his waist in an embrace.
"Be careful "
She added
"You too Sylver. And also, give Billy some more smacking when necessary"
She faced him and laughed.
"Of course I will"
Roman nodded.
With that, he turned to the left dashed away with intense speed.
Sylver watched as his figure disappeared into the distance. She let out a long sigh before turning to go back.
She suddenly paused, then frowned with her eyes glowing.
Sir Slade, the silent knight was leaning against a tree, staring at the direction Roman had run to. He slowly faced her.
Sylver was indeed surprised, she didn't know when he had appeared, but he had, standing with no expression on his face.
He was a really slim and tall man with shadow black hair, pale white skin and grey eyes. It was easy to think he was a walking dead.
Slade stared at her for a while, then he sighed.
"So, you do talk"
He spoke. His voice was soft but deep.
Sylver raised a brow.
"So do you"
She said.
"How long have you been there?"
Slade smiled then left the tree and walked up to her.
She tensed her shoulders.
"Since you left. I watched both of you take down an advanced ranked. That's a really great feat, really"
She didn't speak.
"He's a great kid, no spirit beast, but stronger than most. I'm impressed. He would have come with us if not for Barron's attitude"
He scoffed with eyes rolled.
"He's determined"
She added.
"Relax Sylver, I'm not gonna say anything about what went on, it doesn't concern me really. What I really want....is to train you myself"
Sylver relaxed a little.
"What do you mean?"
"I wanna be your master, and you'll be my student. You caught my eye for some reason, so let me train you to be the strong knight you wanna be"
He stretched out his hands for a shake
"So what do you say?"
Sylver thought for a while, then smiled.
"I accept"
She shook his hand 🤝
He nodded.
"Let's head back"
They returned to the group some minutes later.
