Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Feeling Like Home

Jay's POV

The rest of the day passed in laughter, teasing, and small chaotic moments that somehow made everything feel warm and alive.

At lunch, Keiren and Keigan kept fighting over who would sit next to me.

"Ate Jay sits next to me!" Keiren said, pulling the chair beside him.

"No! She sat next to you yesterday!" Keigan protested.

I laughed.

"Hey, hey… calm down. I'm not going anywhere."

Keifer leaned back in his chair, watching the scene with amusement.

"They like you more than me now," he muttered.

I raised an eyebrow at him.

"You're jealous of your own brothers?"

"Very," he replied dramatically.

Keigan suddenly pointed his spoon at Keifer.

"That's because Ate Jay actually listens to us!"

Keiren nodded seriously.

"Yes. Brother just tells us to finish homework."

Everyone laughed.

Keifer sighed.

"Ungrateful children."

The rest of lunch went exactly like that—constant teasing, small arguments, and laughter echoing across the dining room.

And somehow… it all felt natural.

The next few days passed by quickly.

Every morning started with Keifer waking me up because I refused to get out of bed.

"Jay," he would say, gently shaking my shoulder.

"No."

"Jay."

"Five more minutes."

"Darling, it's been twenty minutes."

I would groan and hide under the blanket while he laughed.

Sometimes Keiren and Keigan would barge into the room too.

"Ate Jay! Breakfast!"

One morning Keigan dramatically pulled the blanket away.

"Ate Jay is lazy!"

"Hey!" I protested.

Keifer just stood there smiling.

"See what I deal with every day?"

In the afternoons the boys and I often played games or watched movies together.

Sometimes we even annoyed Keifer while he was working.

One day Keiren suddenly ran into his office.

"Brother!"

Keifer looked up from his laptop.

"What?"

"Ate Jay said you used to cry when you were little."

I burst out laughing from the doorway.

Keifer slowly looked at me.

"Jay."

I tried to look innocent.

"Yes?"

"You're spreading false information."

Keigan crossed his arms.

"So you didn't cry?"

Keifer sighed.

"Everyone cried when they were little."

"Ha!" I said proudly.

The boys laughed while Keifer shook his head.

"You're all impossible."

Days passed like this.

Filled with teasing.

Laughing.

And small moments that made the house feel alive.

One evening we were all sitting in the living room watching a movie.

Keiren rested his head on my shoulder while Keigan sat beside me.

Keifer watched us from the other side of the couch.

After a while he said quietly,

"You look comfortable."

I smiled.

"I am."

And I meant it.

Because the truth was something I hadn't expected.

I never once felt like an outsider here.

Not even for a moment.

Keiren and Keigan treated me like their sister.

Tita called me every evening to check if I was eating properly.

And Keifer…

He looked at me like I was the most important person in his world.

Sometimes I would sit quietly and think about everything that had happened.

Just a few weeks ago I was still living in my brother's house.

And now…

Now I was here.

Living in this huge mansion.

Laughing with these boys.

Sharing my life with Keifer.

And strangely…

It didn't feel new or unfamiliar.

It felt like I had always belonged here.

Like this place had been waiting for me.

One evening Keifer came and sat beside me on the balcony.

"You're quiet," he said.

"Just thinking."

"About?"

I looked at the garden below where Keiren and Keigan were arguing about something again.

Then I smiled softly.

"I'm happy."

Keifer looked at me for a moment.

Then he smiled too.

"Good."

Because honestly…

I had never felt more like part of a family in my life. ❤️
