Chapter 15 Full Recovery Pill, Vitality Cube.
Under Xia Mu's command, Riolu used Self-Motivation to boost its Attack and Special Attack by 1 level.
Immediately afterward, Riolu unleashed its power and leaped into the air, charging straight at Fearow.
While Riolu's level wasn't as high as Growlithe's, it was far superior.
Reaching several meters in height was effortless.
Facing the cowering Fearow, Riolu unleashed a full-force Rock Smash.
'Boom!' With a deafening roar, Fearow couldn't dodge and took the full force of Riolu's attack, flying backward with a pained expression.
This was remarkably effective.
However, Fearow was still a level 40, and even with average combat abilities, it couldn't be defeated in a single blow.
If Lucario had unleashed this attack, it might have been a one-hit KO.
Or rather, if it were a more powerful Fighting-type finishing move, it should have been able to achieve the same result.
There was no other way; without a TM, Riolu's Rock Smash was already the most powerful Fighting-type physical attack at its current level.
The stronger move, Power Shot, could only be learned at level 36.
However, even Power Shot wouldn't be enough; it would need a power value of 75 or even 120.
After this experience, Xia Mu had a plan.
Previously, he hadn't been able to afford moves because he didn't have enough money, but now that he did, he wasn't worried about affording them.
'Woof woof!'
Riolu barked defiantly as it landed.
'Gah!!'
Disrespected, a loud cry erupted from the wounded Fearow's beak.
Attacked by an unknown puppy-like Pokémon it looked down upon, and seriously injured at that, how could it accept it?
The vengeful Fearow wouldn't give up unless it was thoroughly defeated.
It executed a 360-degree spin in the air, unleashing a wing attack.
Despite its speed being reduced by its terrifying appearance, it was still fast.
Seeing this, Xia Mu's eyes narrowed: "Riolus, use Endure!"
Riolu showed no fear. Its stubborn nature, coupled with its advantage over Fearow, made it completely unafraid of Fearow's attacks.
After letting out a cute but fierce cry, it crossed its arms in front of it, its body emitting a shimmering white light. The wing attack struck it without hesitation, the powerful force sweeping Riolu away.
Riolu was severely injured, kneeling on the ground, its face contorted in pain.
Thankfully, it used Endure, avoiding an instant kill.
Xia Mu breathed a sigh of relief. While it wasn't like in the game where it was left with only 1 HP, this attack had almost rendered Riolu unable to battle.
The Endure ability in the real world is different from that in the game, a fact Xia Mu had learned a great deal over the past few days.
Take the "Endure" move, for example. In the game, it's designed so that any attack received during the turn, even a one-hit KO, will leave the Pokémon with 1 HP, ensuring it doesn't leave the field.
In the real world, after using Endure, no matter how powerful the attack, as long as it doesn't exceed the Pokémon's limits, it can withstand it and retain some strength.
The only difference is the limitation.
Seeing the arrogant Fearow take off again, Xia Mu seized the opportunity and shouted at the red Gyarados, "Now! Gyarados, don't waste the opportunity Riolu created! Lock onto Fearow's trajectory and intercept it! Use Ice Fang to finish it off!"
The red Gyarados had been waiting for a long time.
Although Xia Mu hadn't given it a clear command, the red Gyarados had been searching for an opportunity.
At this moment, Gyarados had already grasped Fearow's flight path.
Intercepting it mid-flight, coupled with the red Gyarados's size, startled Fearow once again.
The Ice Fang was incredibly effective!
Even though the red Gyarados was only level 20, it inflicted tremendous damage on the Fearow.
Fearow, in pain, was flung away by the red Gyarados's brute force.
It still wasn't out of the game.
Despite collapsing to the ground, Fearow still had the ability to move.
Level 40 is level 40!
[If this were the game world, it would definitely be defeated. The difference between the real world and the game world is too great.] Xia Mu thought to himself.
However…
"Even if you haven't fallen yet, you've reached your limit! Riolu, use Rock Smash again!" Xia Mu shouted to Riolu in the distance.
He didn't intend to stop there, or let the red Gyarados continue the attack, but rather let Riolu vent its anger and avenge Growlithe.
He had worried about being unable to win, but now everything was under his control.
'Woof!'
Although heavily injured, Riolu still had the ability to fight.
Just as Xia Mu had expected.
The Rock Smash hit, and the Fearow cried out in pain before collapsing completely, unable to battle.
Two against one, although it managed to find an opening, it's undeniable that if the Fearow hadn't been wild, or if its battle skills and awareness had been stronger, it wouldn't have been so easy.
Xia Mu completely capitalized on the Red Gyarados's advantage, throwing a time bomb at its opponent right from the start.
Unable to capture the Fearow, Xia Mu quickly bought a full-recovery item from the system shop and sprayed it on Riolu.
It wasn't really necessary to use such a good item, but Xia Mu was willing to spend.
In short: "I'm not short of money."
Even a full-recovery item only costs 3000 League Coins.
Riolu's injuries healed, and because of this battle, its level increased by 1.
The Red Gyarados also gained a ridiculous 2 levels due to sharing a large amount of experience.
It's unclear how this experience is calculated.
The conclusion is that battling opponents of higher levels is the fastest way to level up, which certainly aligns with the original work's setting.
Regaining his composure, Xia Mu took out Growlithe's Poké Ball and released the critically injured Growlithe.
Xia Mu quickly purchased another Vitality Cube from the system shop.
Vitality Cube: Revives a near-death Pokémon and restores all its HP. Price: 4000 League Coins.
The process was magical. Holding the Vitality Cube close to Growlithe, its entire body emitted a dazzling glow.
As the Vitality Cube completely transformed into a life-giving light and merged into Growlithe's body, its injuries visibly healed, and Growlithe quickly awoke from its coma.
Xia Mu was excited, and Riolu and the red Gyarados also let out joyful cries.
Growlithe, still somewhat confused, stared wide-eyed in bewilderment.
Staring incredulously at Xia Mu, then at Riolu, then at the red Gyarados, and finally at its own body…
it remembered being utterly defeated by Fearow, lying on the ground, on the verge of death…
"It's alright, Riolu and Gyarados avenged you. Fearow has been defeated." Xia Mu reassured Growlithe, gesturing for it to look into the distance. Fearow was still unconscious. In a semi-dead state, not as severe as Growlithe, it would quickly regain consciousness given time and wouldn't be in mortal danger.
