Chapter 30: Three Nomu
"But if we're talking flashy and powerful, it's definitely Akio, Todoroki, and Bakugo," Kirishima said with obvious admiration. "Their moves are just on another level."
"Don't lump me in with the lightning guy," Bakugo snapped immediately. "And why am I last in your sentence?"
"Because you're always yelling," Tsuyu said matter-of-factly. "I don't think that makes you very popular."
"What did you say, frog-face?! Of course I will be!" Bakugo exploded.
Tsuyu calmly pointed at him.
"See?"
Kaminari laughed. "It hasn't even been that long, and everyone already understands your personality. That's kind of impressive."
Bakugo looked ready to kill him.
"What kind of garbage are you pulling out of your dictionary, idiot?!"
Midoriya stared in disbelief. "Kacchan is actually getting picked on… This really is U.A."
"It's such a vulgar conversation," Yaoyorozu murmured, covering her mouth.
Akio happened to glance in her direction at exactly the wrong moment and froze for half a second.
Mineta caught it instantly.
His face twisted in resentment.
That pervert is staring again, he thought bitterly. One day Yaoyorozu is definitely going to hate him.
"Enough," Aizawa said, sounding like he had already lost patience with all of them. "We're almost there."
The bus finally fell quiet.
Akio gazed out the window and slowly exhaled.
They had arrived.
The League of Villains would appear soon.
And this time, something felt wrong before it even began.
"Class, I've been waiting for you."
As soon as they stepped off the bus, a large figure in a spacesuit-like costume greeted them.
"Whoa, it's Thirteen!"
The students immediately got excited.
Space Hero: Thirteen.
A rescue specialist with an excellent reputation, especially in disaster zones.
"I really like Thirteen," Uraraka said, covering her face.
Akio stayed quiet.
A part of him wanted to warn Aizawa immediately. Tell him villains were coming. Tell him this entire visit was about to become a battlefield.
But there was no way to explain how he knew that without sounding suspicious. If he said it now, he might just look like a spy.
Forget it, he decided. I'll move when it starts.
"Come on in," Thirteen said, gesturing toward the facility. "Please."
They entered the massive training ground together.
The scale of the place was incredible. Akio had seen it before in memory, but seeing it in person was something else entirely. The central zone alone was huge, and the surrounding areas were each built to simulate different disasters.
"It's amazing," several students said at once.
"Is this the USJ?"
Thirteen stretched out both arms.
"Floods, landslides, fires, storms, and all kinds of other disasters. This is a training facility I created by imagining every kind of accident and emergency."
She paused proudly.
"It's called the Unforeseen Simulation Joint."
"USJ," the class repeated.
Aizawa walked over, hands in his pockets.
"Thirteen, where's All Might? We were supposed to meet here."
Thirteen looked embarrassed.
"About that… it seems he reached his time limit on the way here, so he's resting in the lounge right now."
In the lounge, All Might wiped the sweat from his face and gave an awkward laugh.
"Sorry. I should be able to make it by the end."
Aizawa sighed.
"That approach is way too reckless."
Still, he let it go.
"Fine. We'll start without him."
Thirteen turned back to the students.
"As most of you know, my Quirk is Black Hole. Anything caught in it gets pulled in and crushed."
Midoriya's eyes lit up immediately.
"That's why you're so effective at rescue work, isn't it?"
"Yes," Thirteen said. "But that same power can also kill very easily."
Her voice grew serious.
"In this class, some of you also have Quirks that could become extremely dangerous if used carelessly."
At those words, more than one student glanced toward Akio.
He pretended not to notice.
If anyone should be carrying that burden too, it was Todoroki and Bakugo.
"Our society looks stable on the surface because Quirk use is tightly regulated," Thirteen continued. "But the truth is simple: if you misuse your power, people can die."
She folded her hands.
"Never forget that."
Then she looked across all of them.
"Through Aizawa's test, you've already learned what your own strength is capable of. Through All Might's combat training, you've experienced how dangerous your power can be when used against others."
Her tone softened slightly.
"In this class, I want you to change your perspective. Learn how to use your power to save people. Your Quirk does not exist to hurt others. It exists to protect them."
The students listened in complete silence.
Midoriya was practically sparkling.
Then Akio's expression shifted.
The lights dimmed.
The fountain in the center suddenly stopped.
And above the water, a swirling mass of purple-black mist began to form.
Akio's eyes narrowed.
They're here.
Kurogiri emerged first.
The dark mist curled around him as if the air itself had split open.
"Everyone, stay together! Don't move!" Aizawa shouted immediately. "Thirteen, protect the students!"
"What is that?" someone whispered.
Then another figure stepped out from the mist.
A young man with pale hair.
A hand covering his face.
His entire presence felt rotten.
Tomura Shigaraki.
More figures began appearing behind him, one after another, pouring out of Kurogiri's warp gate like a swarm.
At first, Kirishima stared in confusion.
"Wait, is this part of the training too? Like the entrance exam?"
"Don't move," Aizawa said sharply as he pulled down his goggles. "Those are real villains."
The mood changed instantly.
No one doubted it after that.
Shock ran through the class.
How had villains gotten inside U.A.?
Had this been planned from the beginning?
Akio stood still among them, far calmer than the others. As more villains stepped through, he counted instinctively.
Too many.
There were more than there should have been.
Then something massive dropped into the center.
Nomu.
Its huge body hunched forward, muscles twitching, beak-like head lowered.
But Akio's face changed a second later.
Because behind it—
two more shapes emerged.
Two more Nomu.
Different from the first, but unmistakably the same kind of monster.
For a moment, even Akio stopped breathing.
How is that possible?
In the original flow of events, there should have been only one.
But now—
there were three.
