Chapter 17: The Sanctuary of Whispers
The blinding light from the tunnel finally faded, revealing a landscape that neither of them had ever seen before. They had crossed the border into the Neutral Lands, a place spoken of only in myths.
Instead of the dark, dense woods of their pack, they were standing on a cliff overlooking a valley filled with silver-leaved trees and glowing flowers. The air here didn't smell of blood or war; it smelled of fresh rain and ancient magic.
"Is this... the Sanctuary?" the Omega whispered, her eyes wide with wonder as she felt the heavy burden of the Council's mark finally lifting from her soul.
"It is," the Alpha replied, sheathing his claws for the first time in days. "The Elders cannot reach us here. No Alpha can claim authority in this valley, except for the Guardian of the Whispers."
As they descended into the valley, they were met not by soldiers, but by a group of cloaked figures. One of them stepped forward and lowered their hood, revealing eyes that shone with the same white light as the ancient symbols in the cave.
"We have been waiting for you, Broken One," the figure said, bowing deeply to the Omega. "The prophecy said you would bring the True Alpha back to us."
The Alpha looked at the Omega in shock. He had spent his life protecting her, thinking she was weak, only to realize that she was the key to a power far greater than his own title.
They were safe, but a new, much bigger journey was just beginning.
