Chapter 29 - "The Aftermath of Power"

Chapter 29: The Aftermath of Power

The blue flames had vanished as quickly as they appeared, leaving behind only the scent of burnt earth and a heavy, lingering silence. The Enforcers who were still conscious had retreated into the darkness of the trees, their tails tucked in fear. They had come to hunt a victim, but instead, they had encountered a force of nature.

The Omega stood in the center of the clearing, her chest heaving as the adrenaline began to fade. The glow in her eyes dimmed, returning to their natural hue, but the intensity within them remained. She looked at her hands, trembling slightly—not from fear, but from the raw energy that still pulsed through her veins.

The Alpha approached her slowly, his footsteps cautious. He didn't reach for her immediately; he saw the way the grass around her had wilted from the sheer heat of her power. "You... you saved us," he whispered, his voice filled with a mixture of pride and a newfound wariness.

She turned to him, a single tear tracking through the soot on her cheek. "I didn't mean to hurt them," she said, her voice barely audible. "I just wanted the fear to stop. For the first time, the voice inside me wasn't screaming—it was commanding."

He finally took the risk and wrapped his arms around her. To his relief, she didn't burn him; she was cold, as if the fire had consumed all her internal warmth. "This changes everything," he murmured into her hair. "The High Council will not let this go. They will call this witchcraft, or worse, a rebellion. We can't stay here."

"I know," she replied, pulling back to look toward the North Mountains. "We are no longer just two wolves on the run. We are the start of something they can't control."

In the shadows, a pair of ancient eyes watched them—eyes that hadn't seen the light of day for a thousand years. The awakening had been felt far beyond the forest, and the real game was only just beginning.
