Chapter 17 - Day 1 (6)

Most of the Servants here are bootlegs, so their power has been nerfed to the point where they look flashy but their actual damage output is definitely not that strong.

This was Vincent's idea. After all, every Heroic Spirit has vastly different levels of strength. I mean, how the heck do you mean a cute and funny loli no-diff the coolest-looking guy?

Because they're way too broken and OP, everything had to be nerfed so they're all roughly equal in strength. This is the only way to prevent the battles from being completely one-sided.

Yeah, accidentally applying FGO's gameplay style actually helped with a lot of things. The Masters and their Servants have to compete with each other to gather materials for ascension and to increase their combat power.

If you're lazy, you die. No matter how strong your Servant is in lore.

...Except when Super Orion has all three skill buffs or when Arash has fully charged his NP, but we'll get to that later.

Clang!

"Oh, the battle has started," Angra said, pointing at the screen while peeling popcorn.

"She's only level 1, with low ATK and DEF. Where does she get the confidence to solo the boss like that?" Jalter asked, looking quite confused by Saber's recklessness.

"Knightly spirit, perhaps? You must have encountered a few of those back in France, right?" Vincent said.

"Ugh…" Jalter then recalled memories from the original Jeanne, in which there was that crazy fan Gilles who always charged forward for that muscle gorilla—I mean, the muscular saint.

If you don't count him, she only saw a bunch of people who could only run their mouths and were ready to flee the moment she was falsely accused of being the Dragon Witch.

'One day I'll wipe France off the map.'

"You just thought of something really terrifying, didn't you?" Vincent turned to look at her.

"Mind your own business."

Meanwhile, on the other side…

Monsters and chimeras kept appearing nonstop. Lancer and Archer were slaughtering them easily even though there were quite a lot of them.

The problem was that Robert was also there. As a typical Seigi no Mikata, he was continuously shooting at the monsters.

Well… it did deal a bit of damage, so that was enough, I guess.

"I'm out of bullets! These things have such thick skin that shooting the same spot repeatedly doesn't do anything!" Robert complained, holstering his gun and picking up a metal pipe from the ground to swing at the nearest monster.

Clang!

He blinked, staring at the pipe that had bent and twisted after the attack.

Ah yes, pipe of justice, welcome back.

The monster immediately counterattacked at a speed no human could react to.

Whoosh!

Archer suddenly appeared out of nowhere, pulled Robert away, and used her katana to slice off the monster's head.

"Has no one ever told you that in a Servant battle, you should let the Servants handle it?" Archer turned and said to Robert.

"Umm… sorry?"

"Then please step back. A Master should know when to run away, right?"

After saying that, she retreated and fired an arrow into the sky.

Oh shit, another NUKE!!

She then carried Robert away. Seeing this, Lancer also ran out of the area.

"Haa… haah… That damn tentacle bastard… I swear I'll definitely kill you…" A voice emerged from the ground.

He was only lightly injured, but he had clearly get ragebait. After all, some Berserkers were very easy to provoke.

"Phew… Hmm? Why is the sky suddenly so bright?" Cú Alter looked up along with the monsters and saw light preparing to rain down.

If you looked closely… OH SHIT!!!

"FUCK, THAT'S THE ARROW OF ARCHE—"

BOOOOMM!!!!

Cú Alter and the horde of monsters took the attack head-on. Since he was a Berserker, the damage he received was extremely painful.

"I think I heard someone just now," Archer said, standing on the rooftop, looking puzzled.

"Eh, it was probably just some unlucky stray dog passing by," Lancer yawned and looked up at the massive pillar of flesh.

Neither Servant knew how Saber was doing up there, but they believed Saber would definitely succeed… probably?

"Hey, how's it looking up there?" Lancer asked Robert.

"Huh?"

"What do you mean 'huh'? You don't know how to monitor your Servant?"

"Umm, I'm a newbie."

"It seems Saber hasn't taught him yet… Alright, just follow what I say, okay? You just do this… then this… and this, and you're done!" Archer explained… in her own way.

Wow, the Archer really is made up of Archer!

"If she says it like that, I'd be surprised if he actually understood," Lancer muttered, twitching slightly as he glanced at Archer.

"I got it," Robert said, placing a hand on his chin with a serious expression.

"You're kidding, right?"

Robert then felt his perspective shift…

And saw a pink-haired girl with a beautifully large, round boobs!

"Ohhh!!"

And a dick longer than the tentacles down there!

"AGHHHHHHH!!!!"

"Huh?! What's wrong?!" Archer and Lancer jumped in shock as they saw Robert collapse, clutching his eyes.

"MY EYES!! MY EYES SAW SOMETHING THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE!!"

So what exactly did he see??

Up above…

Clang! Clang!!

Saber swung her sword repeatedly while Asmodeus countered with tentacles harder than steel.

Both sides blocked each other's attacks, causing sparks of fire from Saber and gusts of energy from Asmodeus to erupt in the surrounding air.

But if you looked closely, Saber was being pushed back.

After all, with her current strength, soloing a Beast-class Servant was almost impossible—especially when Saber was only level 1.

Two black dogs charged in to bite but were restrained by Asmodeus's tentacles and thrown toward Saber.

Saber grabbed one by the collar and hurled it back at Asmodeus.

Asmodeus then threw it back toward Saber.

The only dog that hadn't been thrown yet watched in terror as its bro were treated like toys.

Then, right as the dog was being thrown back toward Asmodeus, Saber gathered mana into her sword.

Oh, she's preparing to fire a beam! The thing every Saber does!

Pewww!!!

A stream of fire shot out from her sword, flying straight toward Asmodeus—and the dog along with it.

However, Asmodeus did something that would surely shock and enrage PETA.

They grabbed the dog and used it as a meat shield right in front of them!

The dog, despite being part of Saber, was surprisingly still alive after taking such a powerful hit.

Sure enough, even with fire resistance, it was still burned after receiving that attack. That's just ridiculous.

Also, RIP the dog, you will be missed.

"Hm…" Asmodeus released the charred remains and looked at their own arm.

It had been burned… and the flames were corroding their arm.

It was as if the fire itself was hungry.

Then they looked at Saber. The wounds Asmodeus had inflicted on her were recovering slightly—not much, but something was better than nothing.

This was originally her Skill 2, and she hadn't unlocked it yet. That didn't mean she couldn't use it.

After all, it was still part of her power, even if it had been nerfed.

Saber stood there, her eyes filled with unwavering determination as she stared at Asmodeus.

And she saw Asmodeus smile.

"I want to see how you'll feel… when I use this."

Asmodeus began channeling magical energy, causing everything around them to distort.

And then Saber sank deep into her own consciousness…
