Chapter 11 - When the Dream Returns

Three nights passed.

Three quiet, ordinary nights.

No studio.

No rooftop.

No mysterious conversations.

At first, Mira told herself it was a good thing.

Her life had returned to normal.

Work, home, music, sleep.

Just the simple routine she had always known.

But something inside her felt off.

Almost like a habit had been suddenly taken away.

On the third night, Mira lay in bed staring at the ceiling again.

Her room was quiet except for the soft music playing from her phone.

She sighed.

"Okay," she whispered.

"I officially miss the weird dreams."

The admission made her laugh softly.

It sounded ridiculous.

But it was true.

Those strange conversations had become something she secretly looked forward to.

Even if they only existed in her mind.

Eventually, sleep pulled her in.

And this time…

the dream returned.

Mira opened her eyes slowly.

The first thing she noticed was the wind.

Cool air brushing gently against her face.

Then the faint sound of city traffic below.

She sat up quickly.

The rooftop.

The same rooftop from before.

City lights stretched endlessly around her.

A small smile appeared on her face.

"So you're back," she said quietly.

But something felt different.

The rooftop looked the same.

The night sky looked the same.

Yet the atmosphere felt… heavier.

Footsteps approached from behind her.

Mira turned around immediately.

He was there again.

Standing near the railing like before.

But this time, his expression was serious.

No relaxed smile.

No playful teasing.

Just quiet observation.

Mira walked closer.

"You disappeared for a few days," she said.

He didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he looked out at the city lights again.

"You noticed."

"Of course I noticed."

"You seemed busy."

Mira frowned.

"That's not the point."

He remained silent.

She crossed her arms.

"Why are you acting strange?"

"Strange how?"

"You're quieter than usual."

"Maybe I'm thinking."

"About what?"

He turned slightly toward her.

"You."

Mira blinked.

"That's concerning."

Normally she would have laughed.

But the seriousness in his tone made the moment feel different.

Almost uncomfortable.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke.

The wind moved softly across the rooftop.

Finally, Mira broke the silence.

"You know what I realized while you were gone?" she said.

"What?"

"I missed these conversations."

The words came out more honestly than she expected.

He looked at her carefully.

"Why?"

She shrugged slightly.

"I don't know."

"Maybe because here…" she paused.

"Things feel easier to say."

He nodded slowly.

"Dreams can do that."

Mira leaned against the railing beside him.

"You know what's weird?" she continued.

"What?"

"I started waiting for the dream."

He didn't respond.

She glanced at him.

"That's bad, right?"

He finally looked at her directly.

"Why do you think it's bad?"

"Because you're not real."

The words hung quietly in the air.

For the first time since the dreams began, Mira said it out loud.

He didn't react immediately.

Instead, he simply studied her expression.

Then he spoke quietly.

"Does that make the conversation less real?"

Mira hesitated.

"I… don't know."

The rooftop lights flickered faintly.

Mira noticed the change immediately.

"Wait," she said quickly.

"The dream just started. It can't end already."

But the atmosphere was already shifting.

The dream was becoming unstable again.

Before everything faded, he said something that made her heart tighten.

"Be careful, Mira."

Her eyes widened.

"Careful of what?"

But the rooftop was already dissolving.

The city lights blurred into darkness.

His final words echoed faintly as she woke up.

"Don't get lost here."

Mira opened her eyes suddenly.

Her room was silent.

The early morning sky was pale outside the window.

She sat up slowly, replaying the dream in her mind.

The rooftop.

His serious expression.

The warning.

Don't get lost here.

Mira rubbed her face and sighed.

"That's ironic," she whispered.

Because deep down…

she already felt like she was halfway there.
