Chapter 18 - Curiosity Killed The Cat

Jason walked out of the forge in deep thought. He was both curious and somewhat satisfied upon learning about Sophia's past. At least, they had something in common. Both of their childhoods were hell apparently. Jason was still curious as to what she endured but he would wait until she was ready to tell him if ever.

Jason started to walk to the main campus when he saw a group of girls heading to a garden filled with a variety of colors. Jason continued to walk despite his curiosity to see the garden. He has an appointment to keep and he already forgot about it once. He couldn't risk it again.

He reached the main building and entered inside. Some of the staff looked at him in confusion wondering what a student was doing there. Normally they wouldn't bother entering the main building as there were not many ways to entertain a student here. Jason walked to one staff member and asked, "Excuse me sir, but I was wondering where the research department was located at? My homeroom teacher asked me to meet her there."

The man looked like a janitor. He had brown hair with matching eyes. His height was five feet and seven inches and he had a goatee. "Oh of course." The man said. He pointed down the hallway. "Down that hallway there is a group of stairs on the right. Take it to the fifth floor and your there."

"Thanks," Jason said as he walked off. The janitor continued to mop the floor before the evening classes began.

Jason went down the hallway and saw the set of stairs. He started making his way up to the fifth floor, not knowing someone was looking for him.

Jason entered the research wing on the fifth floor and his jaw hit the floor. It was a technological paradise. State of the art equipment was being made and tested in real time. Nanotech was being constructed by an AI to help with projects. There was even a bed that could heal every injury short of lethal blows by sleeping on it being constructed. The scientists themselves were conducting tests on their experiments and projects. Each individual here wanted nothing more than to help develop the world through advanced technology. Professor Invidia was talking to a scientist when she noticed Jason.

She smiled at him and walked on over. "An impressive sight isn't it?" She asked knowing the answer.

"Its amazing," he replied. "I couldn't help but be surprised by all of this. It's ingenious."

"I had the same thought when I walked in the first time," she said to him. "I come by every now and again just to talk with them and see how things were going. However today, we have something more important to do." She started walking toward a door that was labeled Blessing Identification. Her large curves were swaying as she walked. Jason resisted the urge to stare as he followed her.

The entered the room and Jason saw a pod in the middle with a steel chair next to it. Professor Invidia sat in the chair and looked at him. "Whenever your ready, enter the pod."

Jason took a deep breathe and walked forward. He approached the pod and sat down. He placed his head to the headrest and moved his legs inside the pod, laying completely flat. Words displayed themselves on the side of the pod. Invidia tapped on one and the glass closed sealing Jason inside. Jason was claustrophobic and never liked tight spaces. His breathing started to grow rapid and hurried, despite the will to continue. His heart was spiking rapidly.

Invidia tapped another word and green slime like liquid began to fill the pod. Invidia placed a hand on the glass as if to say "your not alone here. I am with you."

Jason's breathing calmed a little and his heart rate stopped increasing, though it was still fast. His hand pressed against the glass where Invidia's hand was when the strange liquid covered the inside of the pod completely. Jason's eyes involuntarily closed as past memories came back in full force. Jason experienced his childhood once more.

Invidia's POV

When she first saw him, she wanted nothing more than to use him to satisfy her desires as she did to so many others before. Yet when she showed up in class that morning, he bravely stood his ground against an intimidating being with the potential of destroying mountains. She wouldn't be surprised if the barrier around the arena would remain intact if Anthony decided to use his full might against it. Yet this boy smiled despite the danger.

'I need to find out more' she thought to herself. 'This boy is so intriguing, I couldn't help my curiosity. He's making the scientist in me scream research. I want to cut him open and see what makes him tick. Of course I also want to know what it's like to be filled by him too. To have someone that can satisfy both my scientific mind and my animalistic lust, such a dream come true. I'm wet just thinking about it. I must identify what creature has bonded with him. That way, I can ravish him to the fullest. And depending on girl he likes hanging around with, I just might have him completely.' She licked her lips in anticipation as lust began to come off her in waves filling the room. She bit her lip and her thighs rubbed against one another. 'But first, we must identify him. Once he has been identified, I can begin teaching how to use his abilities. But this will take a while.' She then left the room and went to find some privacy.

Jason pov

The nightmares never seemed to end. Jason was now stuck inside a suitcase in school. He couldn't move and could barely think. Everything was cramped. He didn't know how long he was stuck there, but it felt like an eternity. The dream shifted, and Jason was now back in Tamarick City. Jason was heading to his job when he was ambushed by a blessed. He was thrown into a wall and was left barely conscious. "Is that all a human is worth?" The man asked. The being was blurred by Jason's view so he didn't know what the man looked like. "You seem more like dirt than a living thing to me. Normally I would kill the family of the ones that spawned you but there is no one left. You truly are the most worthless of beings."

The vision shifted again. This time Jason was about seven when he saw a family walking by him. Jason's blonde curly hair was covered in mud and his clothes were torn. The man and women held the arms of a young girl when she ran off when something caught her eye. Both of her parents were wondering where she was going when they gave chase.

Eventually the couple lost their daughter and were looking around with panicked faces. Jason, however managed to find her. She was lying on the ground on her knees nearby crying from being separated from her family. Jason started to approach when voices came from the other side of the alley. "Well well well," One said. "Look who we have here. A blessed coming into our territory. Don't you know that blessed should be aware that humans can be dangerous too." He said snickering. "Let's remind them what happens when an abomination like you comes where they aren't welcome."

They started to beat the little girl with anything they could find in the alley. One used a baseball bat, another a pipe. Jason stepped in and managed to draw the attention away from the girl to himself. The bullies charged him as the girl ran out of the alley and into the arms of her family.

The scene shifted again.

Invidia's pov

Invidia came back and sat down onto the chair. She looked more relaxed than before as she clicked a few words onto the pod. This pod is designed to read the memories of the past of a subject to uncover the hidden details of the blessed. Inside there were no secrets and no lies. Jason's memories appeared before her in a raging storm. Every conflict he was apart of in his life. Every punch received. There was nothing he could hide and Invidia watched everything. She gasped in horror. 'How can anyone even survive like this. He was treated like an animal. That was no different than a death sentence. So how did he come back from that?'

It all changed when he died.

She saw the mythical wolf that came from the forest. Her eyes widened and her mouth opened as she observed the creature. "That thing is a chaos mythical creature." She said in disbelief. "How did he…?" Before she could finish, the chaos wolf slammed his paw down and crushed Jason. Fire soon began to appear beneath the chaos wolf's paw. A fire so pure and hot that the wolf backed of in pain. And retreated. All that was left was a naked Jason in the street looking very confused. Invidia's eyes widened even further as she watched the scene unfold. Jason was a Phoenix.

Invidia started to collect herself as we worked on getting Jason out of the pod. But she couldn't stop the tears that flowed. Never had she seen an individual suffer to the point where he considered death a mercy. Now even death eludes him. She found the answer she wanted, but curiosity killed the cat.
