Fairy Tail: The Journey

Chapter 13

Kai and Erza sat beneath a tree near the lake behind the guild. In the distance, the guild hall roared with cheers as everyone welcomed Guildarts back.

Kai gently stroked Erza's hair while she rested on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. The peaceful moment felt far removed from the chaos nearby.

"Hey, Kai… why do you think no one has tried to contact us after we escaped?" Erza asked softly.

Kai's hand paused for a brief second before continuing. "Who knows… maybe they have their reasons," he replied calmly.

He didn't say the thought lingering in his mind. There was a possibility he didn't want to accept.

Erza nodded quietly, her eyes lowering. "I just hope they're safe… and living the life they wanted."

Kai smiled faintly at her words. "Then you should live your life the way you want too," he said gently.

Erza closed her eyes, a soft smile forming. I already am… with you, she thought silently.

"Are you being lovey-dovey behind my back?"

A playful voice came from behind the tree.

A white-haired girl peeked out with a mischievous smile.

Erza frowned slightly. "What are you doing here?" she asked, clearly annoyed.

Mira stepped out fully, crossing her arms with a smile. "Oh? You're hugging my boyfriend… of course I would come."

Erza sat up and looked at her directly. "You came after," she replied firmly.

"I've been with Kai since we were children, remember?"

Mira smirked, clearly enjoying this. "So what? I was the one who became his girlfriend first."

She tilted her head teasingly. "While someone was too embarrassed to even accept her feelings."

Erza's cheeks turned red instantly. Before she could respond, Kai intervened.

"Okay, you two… stop fighting," he said, sighing.

He stretched his arms out and pulled both of them closer. Mira leaned against his right side while Erza settled on his left.

Kai kissed both their foreheads gently. "You two act like sisters most of the time," he said with a chuckle.

"Who is his sister?!" ×2

Both Erza and Mira shouted at the same time.

Kai laughed softly at their synchronized reaction. "See? Even your reactions are the same."

His expression turned slightly serious. "Like I've said before… keep your rivalry, but don't go too far."

He looked at both of them carefully. "Sometimes, words hurt more than magic."

Erza and Mira exchanged a glance before nodding quietly. The tension faded as they leaned against him again.

"Mira, where are Lisanna and Elfman?" Kai asked.

"They went on solo missions," Mira replied calmly. "They want to prove they can handle things on their own."

She smiled slightly. "Master gave them the quests, so they should be fine."

Kai nodded thoughtfully. "Good… they need that growth."

After a moment, he spoke again. "We were talking about building a house."

Mira's eyes lit up immediately. "I already told you, let's do it."

She grinned. "That way, I can visit you every day."

Erza narrowed her eyes. "No, you won't."

Mira smirked. "Just because you don't have the courage doesn't mean I'll stop."

Erza's expression sharpened. "Who doesn't have courage?"

She crossed her arms. "I'll be the one staying with Kai."

Bonk.

"Owww!" ×2

Kai sighed after knocking both their heads lightly. "Stop messing around."

"We haven't even bought land yet," he added.

Erza and Mira puffed their cheeks in annoyance. Kai scratched his head awkwardly.

"Hey, don't act like kids," he said.

Then he leaned forward and pecked both their cheeks repeatedly. "Alright, alright… sorry."

Erza and Mira looked at each other before nodding. "Fine, we forgive you."

"Control your hands next time," Mira added.

The three of them laughed together. Soon, they returned to the guild and joined the ongoing celebration.

Kai's eyes wandered and landed on Cana, who was sitting alone in a corner, drinking quietly.

He sighed and walked over to her. Cana glanced at him briefly before ignoring him and continuing to drink.

"You should tell him, Cana," Kai said calmly as he took the drink from her hand.

"The longer you wait, the more he'll regret not knowing earlier."

Cana frowned slightly. "Can you stop meddling in things that don't concern you?"

She leaned back. "Go enjoy your time with your two girlfriends."

Kai looked at her silently for a moment. The tension lingered before Cana sighed.

"…Sorry about that," she muttered.

Kai didn't soften. "Are you going to tell him… or should I?" he asked seriously.

Cana groaned. "Why the hell did I tell you about this?"

Kai smiled slightly. "Because you trust me."

Cana stood up and started walking toward Guildarts. That's not the only reason, you idiot, she complained internally.

Kai watched her quietly. He understood… but his feelings for her were different.

He cared about Cana deeply, but not in a romantic way. To him, she was like Levy—a close and irreplaceable friend.

He loved Erza and Mira, and they loved him too. That was enough for him.

He wasn't someone who collected relationships carelessly. What he wanted… was something real.

The guild members noticed Cana walking toward Guildarts. Conversations slowly died down as everyone sensed something serious.

Cana stopped in front of Guildarts. Her hands trembled slightly, but her gaze stayed firm.

"Guildarts Clive…"

She took a deep breath.

"I'm Cana Alberona… your daughter."

After saying that, she turned slightly and looked at Kai.

"See? I told him."

Then she added quietly, "Happy now?"

The entire guild fell into complete silence. Everyone stood frozen, trying to process what they had just heard.
