Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Search for the Gold Locket

The woman set the girl down and stood up. Anvesha, Ayaan, and Arnab approached. The gold locket around the woman's neck was clearly visible.

"Assalamu Alaikum," Ayaan said.

The woman turned around. Middle-aged. Caution in her eyes. "What do you want?"

Anvesha stepped forward. "We want to talk to you."

The woman looked at them suspiciously. "I don't know you."

"We don't know you either. But the locket around your neck looks familiar to us."

The woman's face turned pale. She covered the locket with her hand. "It's mine. I won't give it to anyone."

Arnab stepped forward. "We didn't come to take it. We just want to know—where did you get this locket?"

The woman remained silent for a while. Then said, "It's from my mother. She gave it to me when she passed away."

Anvesha's heart started racing. "What was your mother's name?"

The woman looked at them suspiciously. "Why do you want to know?"

Arnab stepped forward. In a very gentle voice, he said, "My mother lost a sister in her childhood. That sister had a gold locket around her neck. My mother has a silver locket. Please help us."

The woman's eyes widened. Her hands started trembling. "What is your mother's name?"

"Shanta. Shanta Devi."

The woman stepped back. Leaned against the wall. Tears rolled down her eyes.

"Shanta... My mother used to say that name every day. She would say—I had a sister. Shanta. I couldn't find her."

Everyone was stunned. Arnab stepped forward. "You mean... you are my mother's sister's daughter?"

The woman nodded. "My mother's name was Shyama. She got lost in childhood. A family took her in. Raised her. But in the end, she found out her true identity. She died searching. She told me—I have a sister named Shanta. Find her."

Arnab rushed and embraced the woman. "We found her! The sister your mother was searching for—she is our mother. She is alive!"

The woman burst into tears. After so many years, she had found her mother's lost sister.

Anvesha, Ayaan—everyone was overwhelmed with joy. The little girl got scared and hid near her mother.

Anvesha went to her. "What's your name?"

The girl remained silent. The woman said, "Her name is Riya. My daughter."

Anvesha stroked the girl's head. Her vision had come true. Shanta Devi would save this girl. And this woman—was Shanta Devi's lost sister's daughter!
