Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

"Fourth, help me investigate someone. Samuel Sterns. He's a biology PhD. Find out which university he's near, locate him, and report back to me."

"And from today onward, you are the company's Senior Manager, mainly responsible for administration and marketing. Didn't you say before that if Baymax had proper sales expansion and dedicated marketing, its results could at least double?"

"Well, now it's time to test your ability."

"As for the director position you want, that depends on your performance. Of course, if the final result isn't good enough, then you might not even keep your current position."

"So? Do you want to back out? After all, right now you still have a way out, and I won't mind."

After hearing Lisa's reply, Killian smiled lightly and continued as he looked at her.

He was very willing to give Lisa a chance, and although the company was still not large, there were already many things that needed someone dedicated to handling them.

And if he recruited from outside right now, to be honest, he would not feel at ease.

So internal promotion was the best solution, and Lisa really did have that capability.

In any case, he had already built the platform for her. As for the result, that would depend on her. If she truly could not do it, then no matter how uneasy he felt, he would still have to bring in outside talent.

"Boss, if you understand me, then you should know that in my dictionary, there is no such word as no."

"Just wait. I'll hand you a satisfactory answer."

As for the idea of giving up, Lisa had never even considered it. How many chances like this could a person have in life? And she knew very clearly that with her experience, if she did not seize this opportunity now, before the company expanded further, then in any other company of the same level, or even a smaller one, no one would ever give a newcomer like her such a chance.

And after saying that, Lisa turned and walked out.

As the office door closed once more, Killian looked at the documents in front of him and could not help giving a wry smile.

This was the first time he had seen his secretary act with such swift decisiveness.

But because of that, Killian could not help feeling a bit more anticipation toward her.

Not long after, however, Killian threw himself back into the next stage of work.

Baymax's production line, partnerships with upstream suppliers, and all kinds of paperwork still required his signature.

At that moment, he truly hated the fact that he had no management talent around him worth relying on, otherwise why would he need to worry about all of this himself?

And when Killian finally came back to his senses again, an entire morning had already passed.

During that time, Lisa seemed determined to hand over everything she had been responsible for. Killian only saw her constantly taking documents out from drawers outside, while he himself kept signing one after another.

By the time he finally finished, looking at the mountain of documents piled in front of him, he estimated that for a very long time to come, he would not need to set foot in the office again.

And after finally taking care of everything, Killian also received news from Lisa.

"Boss, I've found the Dr. Samuel Sterns you mentioned."

"He is a PhD in the Department of Biological Cells at Grayburn College in New York, and he has always been trying to break through in the field of human cell development."

"He also has many related publications. Would you like me to contact him for you?"

After placing Samuel Sterns' organized personal file in front of Killian, Lisa asked.

"Yes. Make an appointment for me. The sooner, the better."

After hearing Lisa's words, Killian responded immediately.

"Of course. Conveniently enough, I have a classmate who happens to be at Grayburn College. I already asked, and Dr. Sterns is free all day today."

"The flight leaves in an hour, so you can meet him this afternoon."

Hearing Killian's reply, Lisa continued with a smile as gentle as a spring breeze.

"Oh, right, Boss. Although this may not be the best timing to mention it, I personally suggest that you should start being assigned bodyguards."

And after saying that, Lisa suddenly remembered something and added it.

"Bodyguards..."

"Alright. Go arrange it first."

After hearing Lisa's reminder, Killian suddenly realized that this world really was not peaceful. These past days of comfort had lowered his vigilance. So after waving his hand to signal Lisa to take care of it,

and watching her walk out of the office,

Killian sank his consciousness into the depths of his mind.

If he remembered correctly, there should be a guard option inside the system.

And as expected, once he entered the system interface, the guard branch appeared before him.

Inside were all kinds of guards.

Only, most of them were gray and locked without permission to unlock.

Killian even spotted some familiar ones, such as Tenno warriors from Warframe and Colossi from StarCraft.

Could those things really count as bodyguards?

There were even Protoss angels.

Of course, all of that was far too distant for him.

At present, the only things he could exchange for were U.S. soldiers, suicide soldiers, and ordinary soldier squads.

But even so, the prices were still expensive.

A single seven-man squad cost 1000 prestige points.

At that price, he could have unlocked other high-tech blueprints instead.

After only one glance, Killian lost all desire to exchange for them.

However, when his eyes casually swept over the squads beside them, Killian suddenly became interested again.

The first one was the U.B.C.S., the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service, the special forces unit used by Umbrella to respond to bioweapon emergencies.

The entire force consisted of 120 people, divided into four detachments, with each detachment further divided into five squads.

It was worth mentioning that the two teams appearing at the beginning of the Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil 2 movies were both units under this force. Judging by their performance on screen, their professionalism and combat quality were quite high.

And beside them were also the U.S.S. and U.S.F. special forces from the Resident Evil world.

Their prices were the same, only 3000 prestige points to exchange.

But Killian was not especially interested in those.

What he valued most was the one at the end, Blackwatch, from the game Prototype.

Its squad members could be called among the most elite soldiers in the world.

Because the unit itself had been founded to contain viral outbreaks, the members were trained under extremely strict standards, and the training death rate was also especially high. Blackwatch had exceptionally demanding requirements for every soldier.

Under that kind of high pressure and high standard, it could be said that if the team sent into Resident Evil 1 had been a Blackwatch squad instead, there would never have been any later events at all.

And even in the second movie, when the virus swept through the entire city, all it would have taken was one hundred-man Blackwatch unit to lock the whole situation down completely.

There would have been absolutely no chance for even the slightest trace of the virus to leak out.
