Chapter 36 - Eyes of the War

Volume 2 — Chapter 11

Eyes of the War

The world was at war.

Across mountains, forests, deserts, and endless plains, millions of participants fought under different banners.

Some fought for Heaven.

Some fought for Hell.

Others fought only for themselves.

The Creator's Dimension had turned into a battlefield large enough to swallow entire civilizations.

Armies clashed across countless regions.

Weapons flashed.

Abilities erupted.

Cities built by factions collapsed under overwhelming attacks.

And above all of it—

A single name spread across the battlefield like a shadow.

Icarus Grimm.

The Void Ruler.

The one who had destroyed entire armies alone.

The one who had killed generals from Heaven and Hell without hesitation.

The one who commanded monsters and Void warriors like an emperor of darkness.

For the soldiers fighting below…

He had become something terrifying.

Something inevitable.

Something unstoppable.

---

High above a battlefield in the northern mountains, two figures watched the chaos unfold from the sky.

Dark wings made from fragments of reality stretched across the air.

They belonged to Icarus.

Beside him floated Seraphine.

The cold wind brushed through her silver hair as she looked down at the battlefield below.

Thousands of fighters clashed in violent waves.

Explosions of energy shook the ground.

Lightning, fire, divine power, and demonic abilities tore through the landscape.

Seraphine watched quietly for a moment before speaking.

"…There are more of them today."

Icarus looked down at the battlefield calmly.

He could see the movements of armies spreading across the land.

Thousands.

No—

Hundreds of thousands.

And beyond them, even more.

The war had grown far larger than it was before.

Nexus's voice echoed inside his mind.

[Battlefield Analysis Complete.]

[Estimated participants currently involved in active war zones: 2.4 million.]

Seraphine raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Millions now."

Icarus remained silent.

Below them, an army carrying the symbols of Heaven charged toward a defensive line formed by a smaller independent faction.

The clash began instantly.

Screams echoed.

Steel collided.

Energy bursts exploded across the battlefield.

Seraphine folded her arms.

"Do you find it strange?"

Icarus glanced toward her.

She continued.

"They're not fighting like before."

Icarus looked down again.

He had noticed it too.

The attacks from Heaven and Hell had grown more aggressive.

But strangely—

Less intelligent.

Large groups of soldiers charged forward without strategy.

Some commanders withdrew too quickly.

Others attacked recklessly.

Almost as if their goal was simply to keep the war going.

Nexus spoke again.

[Observation confirmed.]

[Enemy tactical behavior has shifted significantly within the last 72 hours.]

Seraphine narrowed her eyes slightly.

"They're throwing away soldiers."

Another explosion erupted below them.

A wave of demonic fighters crashed into the battlefield, clashing with Heaven's army.

Both sides slaughtered each other mercilessly.

Yet neither side seemed interested in winning quickly.

The battle dragged on endlessly.

Seraphine exhaled slowly.

"…It feels like they're buying time."

Icarus looked toward the distant horizon.

His expression remained calm.

"Let them."

Seraphine glanced at him.

"You're not curious?"

Icarus's wings shifted slightly behind him.

"Not particularly."

Another explosion erupted below.

Icarus extended his hand slightly.

Void energy gathered instantly.

A massive spear formed from condensed darkness.

Without even looking—

He released it.

The weapon fell from the sky like a meteor.

It struck directly in the center of the battlefield.

The impact shattered the ground and erased hundreds of soldiers instantly.

The battlefield froze.

Survivors stared upward in horror.

The Void ruler was watching.

Panic spread through both armies.

Soldiers began retreating immediately.

Seraphine smiled faintly.

"You enjoy doing that."

Icarus said nothing.

---

Far away from the battlefield…

In a massive floating structure made from divine stone, several figures sat around a circular table.

Golden light illuminated the chamber.

Yet the atmosphere felt far from holy.

Around the table sat powerful beings.

Gods.

And across from them—

Dark figures surrounded by demonic energy.

Devils.

Normally these two groups would be enemies.

But tonight…

They were having a meeting.

One of the devils leaned back lazily in his chair.

He had long horns and crimson eyes that gleamed with amusement.

"So…"

He tapped his fingers against the table.

"You've all seen it."

A god wearing shining armor nodded slowly.

"The reports are consistent."

Another god spoke coldly.

"He destroyed three of our divisions yesterday."

A devil chuckled softly.

"Only three? You're getting off easy."

The armored god glared at him.

"Your forces suffered similar losses."

The devil shrugged casually.

"War is expensive."

Silence filled the chamber for a moment.

Then another god spoke.

"The Void ruler cannot be defeated through conventional warfare."

No one disagreed.

They had all watched the battlefield recordings.

They had seen what happened to the armies that approached the Void territory.

Entire legions erased.

Commanders killed instantly.

Even powerful fighters could barely last seconds against him.

A devil leaned forward slightly.

"So what's the plan?"

Another god folded his hands calmly.

"We continue the war."

The devil raised an eyebrow.

"That's your strategy?"

The god shook his head.

"No."

His voice became colder.

"We continue the war…"

"Until the correct moment arrives."

The devils exchanged glances.

One of them smiled slowly.

"…Ah."

"So you thought of it too."

Another god nodded.

"It is the only viable option."

The devil chuckled again.

"That thing is going to be very annoyed when it finds him."

Several gods allowed faint smiles to appear.

Outside the chamber, the war continued.

Millions of fighters clashed across the dimension.

None of them knew the truth.

They believed the war was simply about power.

About territory.

About survival.

But the beings controlling the battlefield had something else in mind.

Something far more dangerous.

The armored god leaned back in his chair.

His gaze turned toward the distant horizon.

Toward the direction where the Void ruler currently stood.

Then he spoke calmly.

"…Armies cannot kill him."

He paused briefly.

And finished the sentence.

"…but something else can."
