The room was silent again.
But this silence felt different.
Heavy.
Alive.
Aanya still held Arjun's hand tightly.
As if letting go would make him disappear again.
"Don't leave me…" she whispered.
Arjun looked at her.
For a moment… his expression softened.
Something human flickered in his eyes.
"I'm not going anywhere," he said quietly.
But behind him—
His shadow moved.
Slowly rising.
Watching her.
Aanya noticed it.
Her grip tightened.
"Arjun… it's still there…"
He stepped closer to her.
So close that she could feel the cold from his presence.
"It won't hurt you," he said.
"How can you be so sure?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Arjun didn't answer immediately.
Instead—
He gently placed his hand over her heartbeat.
"Because now…" he whispered,
"It listens to me."
Aanya froze.
Her heart raced under his touch.
Fear and something else mixing together.
Suddenly—
The lights flickered violently.
The crimson shadow on the ceiling stretched again.
Closer.
Angrier.
It wasn't scared anymore.
It was reacting.
Aanya stepped back slightly.
"Arjun… it's coming!"
But Arjun didn't move.
Didn't even look at it.
His eyes were still on her.
"Stay with me," he said softly.
The room trembled.
The walls darkened.
Shadows spread across every corner.
And then—
Everything changed.
The hospital room disappeared.
Aanya gasped.
They were no longer there.
Instead—
They stood in a dark, endless space.
Cold.
Silent.
Filled with moving shadows.
"Where… are we?" she whispered.
Arjun looked around calmly.
"This is where they come from," he said.
Aanya's heart dropped.
"The shadow world…?"
Before he could respond—
A whisper surrounded them.
Dozens of voices.
All at once.
"She came back…"
"She belongs here…"
"She is the key…"
Aanya covered her ears.
"Make it stop!"
Arjun stepped closer instantly.
He pulled her toward him.
"Look at me," he said firmly.
She did.
And suddenly—
The voices faded.
Her breathing slowed.
"I won't let them touch you," he said.
For a moment—
Everything felt still.
Safe.
Aanya looked into his eyes.
Deep.
Searching.
"You're changing…" she whispered.
Arjun didn't deny it.
"I know."
Aanya's voice broke slightly.
"Will I lose you again?"
Silence.
For the first time—
Arjun didn't have an answer.
Instead—
He pulled her closer.
Wrapping his arms around her.
"I don't know what I'm becoming," he admitted softly.
"But I know one thing…"
He leaned closer.
His voice barely a whisper.
"I won't let you go."
Aanya closed her eyes.
For a moment—
She felt safe again.
But then—
Behind them—
Something moved.
A much larger shadow.
Darker than the rest.
Watching them.
Waiting.
Arjun felt it instantly.
His body tensed.
Aanya slowly pulled away.
"What is it…?" she asked.
Arjun's expression turned serious.
Darker than before.
"That's not one of them," he said quietly.
Aanya's heart skipped.
"Then what is it?"
The shadow moved closer.
Slow.
Heavy.
Terrifying.
Arjun stepped in front of her.
Protectively.
And for the first time—
There was tension in his voice.
"That…" he said,
"is something even I can't control."
The air froze.
The darkness deepened.
And the shadow stopped right in front of them.
"Because this time… it wasn't just after Aanya— it was after the bond they had created."
