POV Josiane
I can't ask him my heart is saying, I think it's not the right time to ask , even I don't know him I think it's just in my mind but ...
(The library was quieter than usual.
Soft sunlight filtered through the tall windows, painting warm patterns across the wooden tables. )
(Pages turned. Pens scratched. Time felt slower here.)
(Josie tried to read the same paragraph for the third time.
But it was impossible.
Her attention kept drifting toward Cain.)
(He was sitting beside her, leaning slightly forward, one hand resting against his cheek while the other held that same strange old book.)
(A loose strand of hair kept falling over his eyes, and every few seconds he brushed it away absentmindedly.)
(Josie quickly looked down at her notebook).
Focus… just focus.
"Is the chapter that hard?" Cain asked quietly.
Josie looked up. "Huh?"
"You've been on the same page for ten minutes."
Her cheeks warmed. "Oh… I was just thinking."
"About the lesson?" he teased.
She hesitated. "Maybe."
Cain smiled — not a big laugh, just a soft curve of his lips. The kind that felt calm and warm at the same time.
(He gently slid a paper toward her.)
"I made summary notes. Might help."
Josie blinked. "You did?"
"Yeah. I get bored reading long text."
She smiled. "That's actually really helpful… thank you."
(For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Just quiet comfort.)
"Wow. Studying this seriously?"
(A familiar voice broke the moment. ( Someone knew by Cain ) ..
Josie turned.)
(It was Linux — hands in pockets, casual as always. He pulled a chair and sat across from them without asking.)
Cain leaned back slightly. "We're in a library "
Linux shrugged. "Exactly. Shocking place to see you talking."
Josie laughed softly.
Linux noticed her notes. "You're new, right? Adjusting okay?"
"Yeah,"she nodded. "Still learning my way around."
"If you ever get lost, don't ask him,"
(Linux jerked his thumb toward Cain ,)
"He'll take you through the longest route."
Cain sighed. "That happened once."
"Twice," Linux corrected.
(Josie smiled at their bickering.)
It felt… nice..
Normal ..
(Like she wasn't alone here anymore.)
(Josie reached for her pen at the same time Cain did.
Their hands bumped.
Both pulled back instantly.)
"Sorry," they said together.
(They paused… then smiled...)
(Linux watched quietly, pretending not to notice.
But the small smile on his face faded just a little.)
A few minutes later, Linux stood.
"I've got practice. See you two."
He looked at Josie. "Don't get too serious all the time. University memories matter."
"I'll remember that," she said softly.
(After he left, silence returned.
Comfortable silence.)
What's his name btw ?
Ohh Linux...
Cain glanced at her notes. "You write really neatly."
Josie smiled. "I rewrite messy ones. This is version two."
He looked impressed. "That's dedication."
She shrugged playfully . "Or overthinking."
"Maybe both."
(Their eyes met for a second longer than usual.
Josie looked away first.
Her heart felt strangely light.
Outside, the campus bell rang.
But neither of them moved immediately.
Because sometimes..)
{The nicest moments are the quiet ones between everything else.}
But I am not sure , Is Linux Cain' s friend or enemy....
To be continued ...
