Chapter 13 - The Devil’s Truth

The moment Sara stepped inside, she understood something was wrong.

Not the obvious kind of wrong. Not fear. Not danger in the way she had felt it before.

This was deeper.

The building looked empty from the outside, but inside… it was alive.

Not with noise but with presence.

Low lights traced the edges of long corridors. Shadows moved where there should have been none. The air itself felt controlled, like every breath she took had already been calculated.

Adrian Wolfe walked ahead of her without looking back.

And somehow…

He already knew she was following.

Sara didn't speak at first. She studied him instead. He moved differently from the others.

No hesitation. No need to impress. No awareness of being watched.

As if the world adjusted itself around him…

Not the other way around.

"Are you always this quiet?" she finally asked.

Adrian stopped.

Not abruptly. Just enough to make the silence heavier.

Then he turned. His eyes met hers.

Dark. Sharp. Uncomfortable.

"No," he said calmly.

A pause.

"Only when I'm listening." Sara frowned slightly.

"Listening to what?"

Adrian's gaze didn't leave hers.

"You."

The answer came too fast.

Too certain.

Sara felt something shift inside her. A small instinct. Warning her. "That doesn't make sense," she said.

Adrian tilted his head slightly: "It doesn't have to."

Then he turned again and continued walking.

Sara hesitated just for a second Then followed. They entered a large open space.

And this time…

It wasn't empty.

Men stood in different parts of the room.

Dressed sharply.

Silent.

Observing.

Not like guests. Not like businessmen.

Like predators.

Some of them glanced at Sara.

Not with desire. Not like the others.

With curiosity.

Calculation.

As if trying to understand why she was there.

Sara felt it immediately.

This wasn't the world of Victor.

Or Daniel. Or Leonardo.

This was something else.

Something darker.

"Stay close," Adrian said without turning.

She didn't ask why. She already knew.

At the center of the room stood a long table.

Black. Polished. Cold.

Adrian walked to it and stopped.

Sara stood beside him now.

Aware of every eye in the room.

"Do you know where you are?" he asked.

Sara shook her head.

Adrian placed a hand lightly on the table: "This is where decisions are made."

A pause.

"Decisions that don't exist… outside this place."

Sara swallowed slowly: "What kind of decisions?"

Adrian looked at her.

And for the first time… There was something almost… amused in his expression.

"The kind that change lives."

Silence fell again.

Then

One of the men stepped forward.

Older. Calm. Dangerous.

"Adrian," he said, his voice controlled.

"You brought her."

Adrian didn't look at him.

"I did."

The man's eyes moved to Sara.

Studying her.

"So this is the one."

Sara felt her chest tighten.

"The one?" she repeated.

No one answered her.

And that silence…

Said everything.

Adrian finally turned to face her fully.

"You think they want you," he said quietly.

Sara's breath slowed.

Victor. Daniel. Leonardo.

All of them.

"You think this is about beauty," Adrian continued.

His voice didn't rise.

Didn't change.

"But they don't even understand what they're looking at."

Sara's eyes narrowed.

"And you do?" she asked.

Adrian stepped closer.

"Yes."

No hesitation.

No doubt.

That answer…

Was more dangerous than anything else.

Sara held his gaze.

Trying to understand him.

Trying to find something familiar.

But there was nothing.

Only control.

"What do you think I am?" she asked.

Adrian's expression didn't change.

"Potential."

The word landed heavier than expected.

"Potential for what?"

A slight pause.

"For destruction."

Sara felt a chill run through her.

"That's insane."

Adrian's lips curved slightly.

Not a smile. Not really.

"Is it?"

He leaned closer.

His voice dropping just enough

"Three powerful men are already moving differently because of you."

Sara's heart skipped.

"They're not thinking clearly."

A pause.

"They're reacting."

Sara looked away for a second.

Her thoughts racing.

Victor's intensity.

Daniel's calm control.

Leonardo's games.

And Alexander…

Everything Adrian said…

Wasn't entirely wrong.

She looked back at him.

"That doesn't mean anything."

Adrian stepped back.

"It means everything."

The room felt smaller now.

Heavier.

"What do you want from me?" she asked.

Adrian didn't answer immediately.

Instead…

He walked slowly around her.

Not touching. Not rushing.

Just observing.

"I don't want you," he said finally.

Sara turned sharply: "What?"

Adrian stopped behind her: "I want what you will become."

The words hit differently.

Not desire. Not attraction. Something else. Something colder.

"And what is that?" she asked quietly. Adrian stepped in front of her again: "Something they won't be able to control."

Silence.

Then

He placed a small object on the table. A phone, Sara looked at it: "What is this?"

Adrian's eyes stayed on hers: "Your choice."

She frowned.

"Between what?"

Adrian answered simply: "Between staying what you are…"

A pause.

"Or becoming something they'll regret wanting."

Sara stared at the phone. Her mind spinning.

This wasn't a gift. This wasn't attention. This was an invitation.

To something deeper.

Darker.

"And if I say no?" she asked.

Adrian didn't hesitate.

"Then nothing changes."

A beat.

"They keep fighting."

Another pause.

"And eventually…"

His voice dropped slightly: "Someone dies."

Sara's breath caught.

The room went silent again.

Not dramatic. Not exaggerated. Just real.

She looked at the phone again.

Then at him: "You're manipulating me."

Adrian's expression remained calm: "No."

A pause.

"I'm showing you the truth." Sara stepped back slightly.

Her thoughts chaotic now.

Everything felt like it was moving too fast.

Too deep.

She came from nothing. From a quiet life. From a village where survival was simple.

And now…

She stood in a room where men decided fates like it was nothing.

Because of her.

"I didn't ask for this," she said.

Adrian nodded: "I know."

A pause.

"But it found you anyway."

Sara looked at the phone one last time.

Then

She stepped back: "I'm not like you."

Adrian watched her carefully: "I know," he said.

And somehow…

That answer felt even more dangerous.

Because it didn't sound like disagreement.

It sounded like certainty.

Sara turned.

And walked toward the exit.

No one stopped her. No one spoke.

But as she reached the door

Adrian's voice followed her.

Calm. Unshaken.

"This was your first step."

She paused.

Her hand on the door.

"And the next one…"

A slight pause.

"Won't be yours to choose."

Sara didn't turn back.

But her heart…

Knew something had already changed.

Outside, the night felt colder.

Quieter.

But not safer.

Because now…

She understood something she hadn't before.

This wasn't about men fighting for her.

This was about a world…

Pulling her into it.

And Adrian Wolfe…

Was the only one not trying to win her.

He was trying…

To transform her.🔥

She made her move

And this time…

There was no going back.
