There was no funeral for the Fourth Hokage. Instead, there was a collective sigh of relief.
In a small, quiet room within the Uchiha clan's compound, Ren lay in a wooden crib. His tiny body was surprisingly sturdy for a one-month-old. His skin was smooth, and his eyes were unusually clear, watching the dust motes dance in the sunlight.
*Infinite Chakra... Sage Body...* Ren thought, a small smirk playing on his infant lips.
Every day, he felt the energy inside him growing. Because of the 'Tail-Beast Vitality' he had extracted from Kurama, he didn't even need to sleep much. His cells were constantly being rejuvenated. He felt like a small nuclear reactor in diapers.

The mechanical voice woke him from his thoughts. Ren sighed. For the last thirty days, he had been trapped in this room. The only people he saw were a kind, elderly Uchiha nurse and occasionally some distant relatives who whispered about his "bad luck."
His parents had died in the attack. In the eyes of the clan, he was just another orphan—a burden during a time of crisis.
But Ren knew better. He was just waiting for his first "prey."

The door to the room opened.
It wasn't the nurse. It was a young boy, perhaps five or six years old. He had deep, dark eyes that carried a weight no child should have. His black hair was tied back in a short ponytail, and his face was calm, almost expressionless.
Itachi Uchiha.

*But how am I supposed to save him? I'm a baby!*
Ren looked at his small hands. *Wait. I have 'Tail-Beast Vitality' and 'Infinite Chakra'. If I can just get close enough to 'reverse-extract' or transfer energy...*
A plan began to form. A plan that would require him to "accidentally" be taken to the hospital.
Ren took a deep breath, and for the first time in his new life, he let out a loud, piericng wail.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The Uchiha nurse came running. "Oh, little Ren! What's wrong? Are you hungry? Or... oh my, you're burning up!"
She touched his forehead. Ren was intentionally overheating his chakra to simulate a fever.
"Medic! We need a medic! This baby has a high fever!"
As the nurse picked him up and ran toward the Konoha Hospital, Ren closed his eyes.
*Hospital, here I come. Minato Namikaze... I'm coming to finish what I started.*
