Chapter 5 - Street Lights

She looked down to the streets, the parties, the light. She felt like this environment was too lit to be haunted, she felt like she was hallucinating like she was drunk. Yes, she always questioned everything but this time she felt like she needed some space. She wanted to leave, she didn't want to be a part of this weird journey.

She walked into the room, she picked up her bag and she left. Susan saw her walking out, funny enough no one actually stopped her.

Chris watched her walk away, she wasn't comfortable. He just exhaled and walked back in, They waited for her to return after an hour but she didn't.

Damon sipped his bottle of beer, He closed the door and felt really good. The alcohol already took over, it was close to midnight. He dropped his bottle and took the board game to the middle of the room, they already created the space for it.

Terry and Lily stood by the side of it, They all walked up to the table but Damon yelled out, "Hey! Let's have a little truth or dare first before the main course!"

They celebrated his opinion, it made sense. They ate and played truth or dare till it was midnight. Damon stared at the board game for a while, his eyes saw a dark smoke emerge from it. He blinked his eyes and it stopped, he felt like the alcohol took over pretty quick. He sat by the board game, Camilla wanted to make an announcement.

"Everyone! It's time. We have to sit by the board. We are a total of fifteen now. So let's get into it."

They all sit, leaving a bit of space in between themselves. Camilla took the paper, the vodka already stayed in place with the glasses waiting for them to start.

She continued talking, "So here are the rules, first we must take a shot of vodka each before we start and we'll have to increase our shot takes for every level accordig to the new level number. That's from one to four. Then we say the words on the cards. Don't worry they are all the same words. Just take it and then we'll say them together."

Peter poured the vodka into the glasses, Frankie shared them around till it got to everyone. They waited and stayed silent, Camilla passed the cards around, the words were written in red on a black background. She held hers, they had the same symbol from the door at the strange store. Still the decided it was best to play the game.

She said, "Now, we are all going to drink our cups on the count of four. That's what it says, after that. We count from the number one to four, then we'll say what we see on the cards. I think I'll just read it out loud first." She took her eyes to the card with the fullest form of concentration.

She continued with a smile saying, "Swipe me off to another land, Swipe me off the feet I stand, take me with my altar wipe. Till I pass, till I sore, till I win, keep me locked Swipe." Her eyebrows crinkled, she found the words to be a but strange for the odd lady at store to call it just a game.

Silver said, "You guys, before we start I have something on my mind. I've been trying to ignore it and to be very honest, It's this feeling I've had since the moment I woke up. Even the dream, I saw us running for our lives. I don't think we should do this, I never trusted this board game the moment I saw it. I mean all of them." They remained silent looking at him, of course they've all been having the same feeling since but it subsided through the alcohol.

Damon was silent this time, he didn't utter a word. He just had an upset mood because Amber left, he had a little crush on her. She knew it and he felt like he just ruined his chance because he was sober.

Terry replied, "Hey you guys! It's the last Saturday of the month already and we are freaking wasting time. Just start the game already, what's the worse that could actually happen? We get stuck in the apartment?"

Lily didn't want him to feel alone, so she supported him. "I think we should just try this board game and then question ourselves after we are done. After all, we don't have any kids here. We are all young adults. What's the actual worse that could happen?"

Silver exhaled and stood on his feet, he apologized. "Listen I'm sorry everyone but I don't think I want to play this game. You know what, I'm not leaving, I just need to be around. I'll be by the table there. So that's a total of fourteen in the game. I'm out." With that said, he walked over to the table. He watched them from his distance.

The fourteen filled up the space he left behind and didn't look back even when they respected his decision. Camilla lit the white candle, the others did the same. Everyone had a candle in front if them. They stayed silent.

Camilla said, "Now, count up to four and drink a cup of vodka. And read the cards everyone."

Everyone counted from the number one to four, they all gulped down their glasses of vodka to the finish. They picked up their cards and the lights flickered. They didn't stop, they were all in. Silver saw the changes in the room right from the moment they lit their candles.

He stood still waiting for the next big thing to happen, he tried his best to avoid blinking. They read the cards aloud, word for word. They stayed silent and watched, thinking that something would happen. They all looked around themselves, they saw nothing. Silver looked to the board and he saw blood emerging from it slowly.

He moved closer to them, he yelled, "Everyone move! Now!" They couldn't. They were stuck in their seated positions, none could speak or move. All they could do was to bleed from their eyes. Silver blinked.
