The forest did not feel like a place anymore.
It was watching Lin Tian.
It was listening to him.
It remembered what had happened.
Lin Tian was standing where the last fight had ended.. Something was different now. The air around him was not just quiet it was tense. It was like the whole world was waiting to see what Lin Tian would do next.
Lin Tians breathing was slow. It was not steady. Every time he breathed in it felt heavy. Every time he breathed out it felt like a struggle. The Chaos Qi inside him was not calm. It was moving around unevenly touching his veins pressing against his chest and going through his arms and legs like something that would not sleep.
Lin Tian held his sword tightly. The sword was responding to him. Only a little. It was like a spark, a small pulse. It was not as wild as before. It was not calm either. It was in between like Lin Tian himself.
Lin Tian looked down at the ground. He saw branches and torn earth. He saw burn marks. These were the remains of a force that did not belong to peace. This force belonged to Lin Tian. He had done this. He did not fully understand how.
This thought only stayed for a moment. The forest started to move. A presence appeared. No there were two presences. Lin Tian did not turn around immediately. He felt them first. One presence was sharp and aggressive like a blade that was already moving. It was clear and easy to understand. The other presence was quiet not hidden. Restrained. It was observing the situation.
Lin Tian turned around slowly. The two men were standing between the trees, not far not too close. They were close enough to attack. Far enough to watch. The aggressive man stepped forward first. He had shoulders and a strong stance. He was holding a saber that had been used many times. His eyes were locked onto Lin Tian with hostility.
The aggressive man said, "So it's you." It was not a question, a confirmation. Lin Tian did not say anything. The other man remained a step behind. His hands were in his sleeves and his posture was relaxed, but not careless. His eyes were moving constantly taking in everything.
The cautious man said quietly "You're injured." The aggressive man snorted, "Even better." He stepped forward again. His saber was ready to strike. "You killed one of ours " he said. "You think you can just walk away from that?"
Lin Tians fingers moved slightly on the hilt of his sword. The Chaos Qi inside him was responding. It was not violent. It was aware. Lin Tian breathed in slowly. Found a faint rhythm. It was not control just alignment.
The cautious man was watching Lin Tian closely. "Hes not panicking " he said quietly. The aggressive man scoffed, "He should." Then he attacked, moving fast. The ground cracked under his step as he closed the distance. His saber cut forward in a heavy arc aimed at Lin Tians upper body.
Lin Tian moved, not backward. Sideways. It was a step and it was late, but not too late. The blade passed close for him to feel the wind. He. Struck. The motion was not smooth. It was not wild either. The Chaos Qi was moving through the blade at the moment of impact.
The aggressive man blocked the attack easily. His expression changed. The force was uneven. He could not predict it. Lin Tian pulled back instantly with no follow-through, no wasted motion. He stepped again turned and breathed. The rhythm was there. It was fragile.
The aggressive man frowned, "What kind of movement is that?" Lin Tian did not answer. He just kept moving. The cautious man took a step to the side not entering the fight but adjusting his angle. He was watching clearly.
The cautious man said, "His energy is fluctuating,. Its not random." The aggressive man clicked his tongue "Doesn't matter." He attacked again faster and stronger. Lin Tian felt the pressure immediately. His body reacted slower. He was already tired. His arm ached. His side throbbed from the fight.
The Chaos Qi responded,. It was too quick. It. Lin Tian stepped, but his timing slipped. The blade grazed his shoulder and blood spilled out. Lin Tians breath. The Chaos Qi lashed out. His sword jerked in his hand. Sparks burst violently along its edge. His body moved, not by his own will.
He struck, jagged and explosive. The aggressive man barely raised his saber in time. The impact pushed him back two steps and his boots dug into the dirt. The aggressive man muttered, "What was that?" Lin Tian did not answer. He could not.
Inside the Chaos Qi was roaring, loud too fast. Lin Tian exhaled slowly forcing air through clenched teeth. He tried not to fight it to move with it to find it. The rhythm came back. It was not clean. It was fractured.
The aggressive man charged again. This time Lin Tian did not meet him directly. He shifted, using movements, less force and more timing. The saber cut through air. Lin Tians counter came late. It was precise enough to land a shallow cut across the mans arm.
The mans eyes narrowed, "Hes learning mid-fight." That was when he moved, not to attack, but to position himself. He stepped to Lin Tians flank cutting off his escape without closing in. It was pressure, not from force. From control.
The aggressive man noticed immediately. Adjusted. Their movements. Lin Tian felt it. The rhythm. His next step came a fraction too slow. The saber struck his side and pain exploded through his ribs. He. The Chaos Qi surged violently in response.
Lin Tians vision. The sword in his hand trembled as energy flooded through it but without direction. The aggressive man raised his blade again. Hesitated, just slightly. The previous surge had left an impression. Lin Tian felt that hesitation and moved, not with clarity not with control but with instinct guided by something
He stopped resisting the Chaos Qi, not just enough. He let it lead. He followed. His step came uneven his turn too sharp. The timing was strange. The mans strike came early and Lin Tian slipped past it. His sword followed in an arc cutting across the mans chest deeper this time.
The aggressive man gasped, stumbling back. Lin Tian did not stop. He could not. The Chaos Qi was moving now. If he lost it he would fall. He stepped again turned and struck. The cautious man moved to intercept. Lin Tian did not target him. His movements were not directed they flowed, unpredictable.
The mans expression shifted for the first time "Hes not choosing." That was correct Lin Tian was not deciding he was surviving through motion. The aggressive man attacked again. Doubt had crept in a fraction too slow a fraction too cautious. Their blades. The Chaos Qi surged at that exact instant, violent focused.
The saber shattered under the force. The strike continued, landing clean. The aggressive man froze, then collapsed. There was silence, heavy. Lin Tian stood there barely his chest rising sharply his legs trembling. The Chaos Qi pulsed inside him again now more unstable, than before.
The cautious man did not move immediately. He watched carefully "You can't hold that state." Lin Tian did not respond. His grip was slipping his body was reaching its limit. The cautious man nodded slightly "Then this ends now." He moved, fast, precise, no wasted motion, no hesitation.
Lin Tian tried to respond. His rhythm was gone. The Chaos Qi surged at the time and his body lagged. The strike landed clean across his chest and blood spilled. His knees. The second strike came. He barely raised his sword. The impact drove him to one knee. His vision. The Chaos Qi thrashed inside him out of control dangerous.
The cautious man stepped closer no rush, no emotion, certainty "You pushed too far." He raised his hand for the blow. Lin Tian tried to stand. Failed. His strength was gone his control was gone even the Chaos Qi was no longer something he could follow. It was turning on him. His vision. Then the air changed, not gradually but instantly.
A heavy feeling came down it was not overwhelming. It was total.
The careful one stopped moving.
His eyes got really big as he turned around. It was already too late.
Someone appeared out of nowhere.
There was no noise, no warning, one quick movement and it was over.
The ones body got stiff and then fell to the ground.
It was silent again completely silent.
Lin Tian slowly opened his eyes.
It took him a while to focus his vision.
A woman was standing in front of him.
She seemed different like a big rock that does not move.
Her clothes were moving gently in the air like she was not in a hurry all.
She looked at Lin Tian and her eyes were calm and sharp like she was checking him out.
"You are still alive " she said, her voice was clear and slow.
Lin Tian tried to talk. He could not make a sound.
His body started to fall but he did not hit the ground.
The woman caught him easily like he weighed nothing.
Her hands were steady like a rock.
She looked at him for a moment. Then her eyes moved a little like she sensed the Chaos Qi inside him.
"Unstable " she said quietly.
Then she. Said, "But not broken."
She picked him up like he was a feather and behind her the forest was still silent like nothing happened.
But something had changed something new was happening.
Lin Tians vision started to fade and the last thing he felt was stability, real stability, for the first time since the Chaos Qi woke up inside him.
Then everything went dark.
