Chapter 24 - Chapter 23 — First Light

A sound came. It was low and distant. Then it came again. This time it was a bell.

Lin Tian's eyes opened. He did not delay. He was not confused. The room was still dark.. The darkness was thinner now. It was morning. The light was not yet bright.

Lin Tian breathed in and out. The Chaos Qi moved inside him. It was steady and uninterrupted. It had not stopped during the night. It had not scattered. It had settled deeper.

Lin Tian sat up slowly. Controlled his movements. His body responded cleanly. There was no stiffness and no drag. Only a faint heaviness remained from the fight and the breakthrough.. It did not interfere with him.

He stood up. His feet touched the ground. He was stable. The floor was cold and solid. It felt real.

Lin Tian stepped forward. Opened the door. The corridor was dim. Other doors opened one after another. People stepped out quietly. No one. No one lingered. They moved in one direction.

Lin Tian followed them. He did not hesitate. The flow of people carried him forward. They were not. Not slow. They were measured.

They exited the building and cold air met Lin Tian. The air was fresh and sharp. The sky was pale. The light was spreading.. The sun was not fully risen.

Ahead of him was the courtyard from before. It was already filling with people. They were taking positions. Spacing themselves evenly. No instruction was given. None was needed.

Lin Tian stepped into the courtyard. Found an empty space. He stood still. The Chaos Qi inside him shifted slightly. It was not reacting it was adjusting. The air in the courtyard held Qi. It was more active than yesterday.

A man walked to the front of the courtyard. He was the man from before. He did not raise his voice. Said, "Begin."

The movement started together. Hands. Turned and lowered. Steps followed. The movement was simple and repeated.

Lin Tian watched once. Then moved. He was mirroring the movement. Not perfectly,. Close enough. His arm. Turned and dropped. His step followed.

His breath was aligned with the movement. In, movement. Out completion. Again. Again the rhythm built. It was not fast and not slow. It was consistent.

The people around Lin Tian moved the way. There was no variation and no expression. Only repetition.

Lin Tian felt the difference. This was not fighting. It was not survival. It was not instinct. It was structure. Control before power. Foundation.

His Chaos Qi responded. At first it lagged. His body moved,. The Qi followed half a step behind. It was not. Not resisting. It was just late.

Lin Tian adjusted. He was not forcing. He reduced his movement. Slowed slightly. His breath deepened. In he lifted his arm slower. The Chaos Qi gathered with it. Out he lowered it. The Qi followed.

Closer and closer the connection improved. Not by strength. By precision.

The man at the front walked between them watching. He was not. Not stopping anyone. He was only observing.

He passed Lin Tian. Paused slightly. Then he continued. Nothing was. There was no reaction.

The training continued. Time passed, uncounted. The sky grew brighter. The light spread across the courtyard. Shadows shortened.

The movements did not change. They were still the sequence and still repeated.. The Qi in the air shifted. It became more active responding to the movement and the breath.

Lin Tian felt it brush against him. It was light and even. His Chaos Qi reacted. For the time it did not just circulate inside. It touched the outside.

Lightly it was testing. The moment it did there was resistance. Not force,. Difference. The external Qi was stable. Ordered. His Qi was dense and unusual.

The contact did not merge. It separated naturally. Lin Tian. Did not push. He pulled his focus inward again. Refined his own flow. It was safer for now.

The sequence ended abruptly. No signal was given. People stopped at the moment as if it had been decided beforehand.

The man at the front spoke, "Again." There was no rest. The movement resumed, this time faster.

Lin Tian adjusted. His breathing shortened. In the Chaos Qi had to respond quicker. The delay returned, small but there.

He. Reduced excess motion. He cut movement. Each action became tighter and more efficient. The Qi followed better not perfectly. Enough.

A mistake happened to his right. A disciple's step slipped slightly. His rhythm broke for a moment. His Qi scattered.

The man at the front appeared beside him instantly without sound. A hand pressed lightly against the disciple's shoulder. The movement stopped completely.

"Reset " the man said. The disciple. Stepped back. He rejoined the movement. There was no punishment and no anger. Only correction.

The training continued. Lin Tian observed briefly. Then returned inward. The sequence repeated, again and again. Each time refinement increased, not visible. Felt.

His Chaos Qi grew more responsive and more immediate. The delay. Control increased. The deeper path inside him stirred once faintly a pulse and then quiet again.

He did not follow it not yet. The final cycle ended. The man raised his hand a signal and everything stopped. Silence. Breathing slowed across the courtyard.

Lin Tian exhaled, in, out. The Chaos Qi stabilized. It was smooth and contained better than before, not complete. Improved.

"Disperse " the man said. People began to move, leaving in groups, some alone. No one. No discussion took place. No praise was given. The training was over.

Lin Tian stood still for a moment and then stepped out. The courtyard emptied behind him. The sect around him came more movement, voices and activity. The day had begun.

He walked without direction observing. Paths connected buildings and people moved with purpose. Some carried items. Some spoke quietly. Some trained alone in corners. Everything had a place. Everything had a rhythm.

Lin Tian felt it, not through thought. Through contrast. This was structure, not chaos.

He continued walking, his breathing steady, in, out. The Chaos Qi moved. It was more responsive now closer to his intent heavy still different, but less disconnected.

He reached a courtyard empty, no one inside. He stepped in. Stopped at the center. He closed his eyes for a moment.

He raised his hand slowly. The Chaos Qi followed immediately no delay. He lowered it. The flow completed, clean controlled, better.

He opened his eyes that was enough for now. A presence appeared at the edge of the courtyard. Lin Tian turned. A disciple stood there watching, not hostile, not friendly curious.

"You're new " the disciple said, a statement. Lin Tian nodded once.

The disciple stepped closer his gaze lingering longer. "Your Qi " he said, pausing, "strange."

Lin Tian said nothing. The disciple did not press. He shrugged slightly. Said, "Stay alive."

Then he. Left, no explanation, no meaning attached, just words.

Lin Tian watched him go and then turned back. The courtyard was empty again quiet. He stood still breathing slow in, out. Inside the Chaos Qi continued its cycle, stable, refined not complete, but moving forward.

He did not. He did not stop. He. Adjusted, step, by step.
