Nemuri continued to walk in silence.
"I have to ask." She said breaking the comforting silence. "Do you talk to anyone other than the UA staff?"
"Not really. Why?" I said turning back to look at her.
"So… do you not have a mom?"
…
"Uh. No… I never… I never thought about that." I said quietly.
"Then am I also the only woman in your life?" She said with a hint of worry.
"Now you are yeah. Recovery Girl is more like a granny. And you said she doesn't count as a woman earlier so." I said while fiddling with my thumbs.
"Then do you want a mom?"
"Hmmm." I pondered. "I've been fine without one."
"You've dodged the question there. Is this not something you want to talk about?" She asked while squinting her eyes.
"No not that, I just, I'm not sure. The headmistress at the orphanage acted like one. She realised how much I liked silence and warmth so she used to give me a hot water bottle and sit with me while I did… While I did whatever I did."
'It's been eleven, nearly twelve years since my transmigration… I can't remember my old life anymore. All I've thought about was how to prepare for the story and now… and now it seems I have even forgotten my family.'
My face fell as I curled up in Midnight's arms.
She spotted it. "I might have just met you Taka, but I'll try my best to be the best mom ever. How does that sound?"
She slowly released a bit of her quirk.
*Yawn*
"That would be nice." My eyes were slowly shutting. "I don't think I can call you mom, it took a while with Nezu too, but can I call you Nems?"
(A/N: HAHHAAH I LOVE BEING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS)
"That's just fine Taka." She whispered into my ears before patting me slowly on the back as I fell asleep curled up between her arms and chest.
—Midnight's POV—
'Damn Nezu… I know he was new to parenting but this… this poor boy has lived his whole life without a motherly figure. I know Nezu would support him however he could but. It's not the same as what a mom could do.'
She then walked into the cafeteria and the students started to take notice of her. Or rather the tightly compact boy in her arms with bright blue bushy hair and some very baggy clothes that seemed to wrap around the boy like a protective blanket.
Some whispers broke out:
"Aw… she looks so precious." (I put she on purpose btw, OUR little femboy)
"Isn't that the ghost??"
"Miss Midnight caught the ghost?"
"The ghost is real? And it's a small boy?"
"That's a boy? You sure?"
"Who the hell said that munchkin was attacking people?"
"Damn that lucky bastard."
"Perverts."
Even Lunch Rush came out and asked. "What with the kid? He's usually working around this time. I've taught him a little bit before too."
Nemuri stopped and said. "He hasn't had a motherly figure since he was four and he's been constantly surrounded by training and older men. That just… doesn't sit right with me so I am going to talk to Nezu about it."
"Sorry, I didn't know Midnight… he's always been welcome in the kitchen but I'll try my best to show him the hobby of cooking rather than just learning the recipes."
"Thanks Lunch Rush. Just so you know he said I could be his mom and even made a nickname for me." She smiled happily.
"Are you gloating? If so it's to the wrong person."
"I'll get going now."
"Good luck with Nezu. He is quite fond of Takaba."
"Then he should see my point." She walked off towards Nezu's office.
—Nezu's Office—
Midnight walked in to see Nezu calmly sipping tea and eating biscuits. "So that's where Takaba has been. I was wondering since he never usually strays from his regimen."
"Nezu. You do know the importance of a mother for young boys like Takaba right?" Nemuri stated while taking a seat and propping the unconscious Takaba against her comfortably.
"Yes of course I did. However, Takaba has never asked or acknowledged that and so due to his maturity at such a young age I never acted of it." He said calmly before setting his biscuits down.
"Then how come when I asked him if he wanted one he wouldn't give me a straight answer until I offered to be his mother myself." Nemuri stated, holding Taka a little tighter.
"Well, Takaba seems to be quite intelligent in most aspects but emotionally. He's also quite content with hiding everything, even from himself, until faced with it directly." Nezu jumped from his seat and walked over to sit next to Nemuri on the couch. "I also realised that if he did a strict regimen then he wouldn't have to think of so much complicated things."
"Yes but it's not good for him. It's a wonder he actually managed to interact with me properly considering my, well you know."
"I will accept that what I did might be due to my own selfishness. I will allow for you to assume this role however you must not cut into his regimen too much. After all, this could be the start of troubling times."
"I know. Thankfully Aizawa and Yamada are beginning teaching next year. Speaking of… are you going to introduce them to him when they first arrive unlike me?"
"Yes well I thought it would not be good for a young impressionable child like Takaba to meet the R-rated hero until he was in middle school. I would've introduced you three to him together." Nezu placed his hands together.
"So then, let me tell you all about Takaba."
—1 hour later—
I woke up to feelings of content. My entire body was super warm and was pressed against something really soft. I opened my eyes to see the pale blue wall.
'That's not my bedroom wall. If I'm not in my bedroom then where am I?'
I lazily tilted my head up to see the ceiling.
'Ah I'm in Dad's office.'
My memory then immediately came rushing back.
'Uh oh. What. Wait. How am I meant to do this? How did I finally leave my domain to socialise for once then immediately gain a mother? How the hell does that even happen?'
…
I pushed off the woolly blanket and took the elevator down.
'I've already lost the rest of the day so I might as well take the day off'.
I slipped into my Nezu wanzi grabbed a cup of hot chocolate went back into Nezu's office turned on his secret TV (came from within the wall) and looked for something good to watch.
The streaming service I was using had so much on it that I ended up watching a random romance about two people who fell in love but one was a hero and another was a villain.
It was really bad. The only thing that kept me awake was the hot chocolate and three episodes in I was already onto my fifth.
'Too much hot chocolate. My belly deserves a rest.'
I then switched over to…
'YoTube… come on all you did was remove one letter.'
I clicked on some random Hero slander video and it was actually pretty funny. A couple stuck out but I genuinely had no idea who they were referring to. I guess trying to get into hero culture would be hard.
Scrolling through the comments I noted that there was an astonishing 75% of names to included 'All Might' in them or just abbreviations of it using numbers and underscores.
'He is the number one hero after all.'
'I wonder how the gaming community fares in this world…'
Then the door opened.
"Hello there!" Nezu said cheerily as he walked in.
"Hiya dad." I replied without looking.
Nezu climbed up next to me and pat my head. "I've had a fruitful talk about you with Midnight you know." He then sat down and scanned the five separate mugs I had left out with his eyes.
"Relaxing are we?"
"Yes. I think talking to Nem- Midnight awakened my laziness even more now" I scratched the back of my head.
"Well you've been very diligent for as long as I have known you. After all, you travelled across the city at the age of four on your own just to meet me and since then you've been always training your quirk."
"That's different though." I said flatly. "I enjoy messing around with my quirk and coming up with new ideas and when I first met you it was mainly to find a way to get into a good standing for the rest of my life."
"Moving on, there will be changes. First of all Midnight recommended that you at least try and socialise or go to middle school." He kicked his feet back and forth. "And so in preparation for this I will allow for your free roam to do what you want until then. Whether you do something productive or not doesn't concern me. I trust you will do what is best."
"When you say recommended-"
"It's final. Don't ask me about it though."
"Oh the betrayal…"
"Speaking of betrayal there's something I must tell you." He turned me around and placed his paws over my hands. "I hate to break the news but you will be eye catching wherever you go. You have bright blue hair, bright green eyes, a very small stature and to quote yourself, you might be a femboy."
*Gulp*
"Wow… that is a lot to process… surely I'm not that sm-"
"You are. I also left out key details in my earlier explanation."
…
"Go on, I insist." I prepared for the worst.
"You have cat ears."
My ears twitched. "Oh, I've gotten so used to them I kind of forgot."
"They will help you though, if people see your cat ears they will assume that's your quirk and probably not ask you about your quirks details."
A silence stretched out…
"Can you recommend me anything to watch in order to be caught up to speed with the current times?" I moved on.
"Yes here, let me sign in to your account." Nezu gestured for the remote.
"You made me an account? Can I ask when?" I gave him the remote.
"Two years back. You never used YoTube anyway so it didn't matter." He said while fiddling with the remote.
…
"Why is that the account name?" I deadpanned turning to look directly at Nezu.
"Well most accounts are for All Might fans. Where are all the Principle Nezu fans hmmm? This username wasn't even taken. I got it on the first try." Nezu handed back me the control.
"Yeah but naming my account 'Nezu's Son' is a bit different…" I sighed with exasperation.
"Surely you have seen the amount of accounts that are called 'All Might's Son' or similar things?" He asked innocently.
"I hate that you are right.." I gritted my teeth.
"Hehe! Now check your playlists there are some good informational videos there." He then jumped down and walked toward the door. "I have a staff meeting now so you stay here."
—The staff meeting room—
"Well then, now that everyone is here let's begin. This will be over soon so you will make it in time for your lessons." Nezu swivelled in his chair to turn towards the staff. "Next year we will have new staff members. One you already know since he confirmed a while ago who is Hizashi Yamada, or Present Mic. The other only recently confirmed to be Shota Aizawa, or Eraser Head."
All teachers nodded with Midnight making a slight smile.
"That is all, one final thing though." Nezu grew serious. "Takaba will be here less and less due to his current regimen and future school life."
…
Chairs moved again after five seconds as people began piling out to get to their lessons and work places.
—Two hours later—
The final bell ring signalling the end of the day. Takaba watched as all the students piled out towards the front entrance. He refused to hit the pose of pressing a palm against the glass and keeping the other behind his back.
'I might die if I did that.'
He resolved himself to lie down on the couch.
'I don't even take up three quarters of it.'
A single tear trickled out of my eye. I quickly wiped it and tried to fall asleep, covering myself in a warm blanket.
I quickly gave up and tried my best at a rubix cube.
After three minutes of failure the door opened and Midnight walked in.
'Uh oh.'
A/N: middle school arc soon, I don't know how long it will be but it won't take more than 3-4 chapters I think. I also just found out that Mustafu Middle is a canonical place since Kirishima and Ashido went there… now I have to decide whether he joins one of their classes or not.
