Chapter 5 - Celine's Explanation

Calux was staring at the screen absentmindedly while he continued to read the messages from the administrator when he was brought out of his thoughts by his mother.

"We have another S rank potential awakener in our Dukedom!"

The crowd of people loyal to the Voidbane household cheered in happiness.

The emperor was regretting his decision, he knew that the ties with this family were severely broken, and that no matter what, they would never be the same.

Duke Arnold's face looked as if it had fallen into horse shit.

He couldn't believe that after not awakening for 18 years, the son of the man who constantly overpowered him and make him loose face all those years ago would actually display S rank potential just like his son.

Well not just like his son, although the Potential of his son was S rank, only his bloodline was S rank, his talent was an A rank just like the princess.

Calux however was a full blown S rank across the board, just like his mother Celine and the Emperor.

He wanted nothing more but to crush the handles of his seat, but decided against it.

Calux was behind every other S rank potential awakener in the kingdom by years.

While he was F- rank, the princess was currently a C- rank awakener in just four short years since she awakened. Something unheard of, but of course the emperor spared nothing when it came to his only daughter.

His own son was a D+ rank awakener, so he decided to ignore this small hiccup and just stay happy that Calux was currently years behind every other S rank, and although he may be able to catch up eventually in terms of rank, he would definitely not in terms of the achievements of his peers.

This seemed to put him in a good mood, while he shared his thoughts with his son.

They decided to congratulate Calux from their seats and turned to leave since they had seen what they wanted to see.

The rest of the ceremony continued as expected, no one awakened above B rank which is completely normal.

By the end, the emperor approached Celine, hoping to strike up a conversation but she just brushed him off saying she was tired and wanted to discuss some stuff with her son.

Calux on the other hand, was still absentminded, and just wanted to get home to get familiarized with everything regarding his bloodline and talent, and also check on those gifts that this woman Liana had mentioned.

By the time they got back to the Castle, it was already after mid day, and they decided to have lunch while talking.

Calux was the first to break the silence.

"Mom, who is Liana?"

He had never seen his mother get so stiff before, not even in the face of the emperor or an S rank monster.

"Liana... Is your paternal aunt."

The words hit Calux, but he couldn't yet process it.

"But... She left me a message through the administrator side on the Apex Network..."

Celine sighed...

That woman had no filter.

"Listen son, I can't tell you everything about your dad's family. What I can tell you is that they are on a tier way above everyone in this world, your dad was not an SS rank, he was way above it."

"He suppressed it to avoid destroying this world while he was here."

"I don't know the details, but I can tell you he was originally here to help this world with some catastrophes that were appearing that they weren't ready for because your aunt, who has a strange ability to peer into fate had told him that there were people coming out of this world eventually that would help them in their war."

"While he was here, we fell in love and had you, but the day you were born you caused a phenomenon that made her come down here herself and lock away your abilities to protect you from both their war and the people of this world."

Calux listened to every single word his mother said, processed them and finally sighed.

"So it wasn't that I didn't have talent but that she sealed it."

"Of course, how could you not have talent with a mother like yours!"

Celine boasted proudly.

That gained a chuckle from Calux.

"Well mom, what the Apex network showed, as you might imagine is not my real potential."

"My potential is Transcendent."

Celine suddenly dropped the fork she was using and looked at him in shock.

"Wow... I know your aunt said she wanted to protect you... But to think you'd have the same potential as your father and aunt even when you have my blood."

"I'm so happy for you son, I always knew you had the talent, I just wanted you to awaken it yourself so you wouldn't think it was motherly love talking.", she giggled like a little girl.

"She also said she left me some gifts, in something called my soul space that only transcendent potential awakeners have, she said to tell you so that you wouldn't get scared thinking they were dangerous."

He said teasing her.

"Oh who does she think she is! Of course I'd worry about my son even if your father himself gave you some gifts, considering his origins!"

Celine huffed, but then continued.

"On with it, I remember your father used his soul space as well, concentrate on your inner self and try to see into it, then grab what you see and they should be brought out here."

Celine said confidently.

"At least, that's what your dad used to say.. hehe", she said nervously.

Calux smiled at his mother's antics, he loved this side of her that she didn't show to anyone else.

He followed her instructions, breathed and tried to concentrate on himself.

For a few seconds he felt nothing, but suddenly felt his consciousness being pulled away somewhere.

When he opened his eyes, he was in a dark space, illuminated by a small light that shined over two objects.

One, was an obsidian egg with purple lines. The egg alone appeared to be two feet tall, he had no idea what type of beast would come out of it, but if it was a gift from his aunt, he felt it should be nothing short of powerful.

The second item called to him as if it was something that was created for him alone.

A katana was hovering alongside the egg.

It had a black, purple, and gold handle with intricate patterns that he could somehow understand.

Void Edge

That's what the patterns read, all around the handle multiple times.

The blade it self looked so pristine, as if it had never seen a battlefield.

However the aura of the blade said differently, this was a blade that had probably slain countless beasts and perhaps humans, he could feel it calling to him.

He floated towards the space until he was a step away from these two items, and finally...

He reached out.

The next second, he was back out in the dinning room, seating in front of his mother.

But this time, on top of the marble counter there was a giant two feet egg and a beautiful Katana.

His mother held only a surprised look for a second, before she smiled at him.

"Told you it was easy."
