Chapter 11 - Training the Body

Calux tried to fundamentally understand Void Slash and Void Step, to use as a hook for understanding his void affinity.

Like this four hours quickly passed and Void had to intervene.

Of course four hours would not be enough to understand the void, nor to be able to create something new out of it, but progress was progress.

"Four hours have been used up, we will no move to training your body."

Nyraxis who had been 'sleeping', as she trained suddenly looked up at him with worry in her eyes.

She was aware that to train the body, the way Void had described it was a gruesome and painful way.

However for strength, beings like dragons were used to sacrificing anything, she was just worried for her father.

Calux on the other hand, felt excited.

He was finally going to use his skills.

"Master, be aware that contrary to when you touched the void and you felt nothing but absence, this time around since the void will be directed towards you with the intention to attack, you will definitely feel pain."

Calux thought for a second and something clicked.

"So the reason as to why I didn't feel pain before when my hand was erased, was not because it was just absence, but because of the will?"

You could see a smile in Void's face, something that hadn't been seen since he entered the Void Palace.

"Very well done master. You grasped something very important."

"Yes will matter, because as you understand just touching the void can erase, it's just the nature of the void."

"The void didn't want to erase your hand, on the contrary your hand was erased because the nature of the void is to erase."

"However, when you manipulate the void and give it a will... Things a very different, because the will can erase in multiple ways, and when you use the void with the intention to harm, then the void will harm, not just erase."

So this training won't be so fun after all... I thought that since I didn't feel pain I could just get hit, restored, and re do without pain but I guess there's no free lunch in this world.

"Prepare yourself master, you will be fighting 3 void constructs to start and they will always be a rank above you so that you can learn to always fight those above your level, as you know, your skills allow you to essentially cripple those of your same level so we can't just go easy on your training."

Void suddenly spoke with a smile that seemed a bit sadistic.

Shit..

Void snapped his fingers and suddenly ten feet away from Calux the void started materializing three humanoid figures.

The first construct appeared to be a close combat type humanoid, he looked to be six feet and six inches tall, armored with obsidian and gold armor.

Glowing purple eyes could be seen out of the helmet that he was wearing and he held a two meter long sword which looked to be coated in a purple mist that screamed danger.

Next to the close combat construct, a second one finally materialized, it had a lighter armor that looked to be leather, it was also obsidian and gold but this construct had a smaller frame, it was five feet and eight inches tall, and instead of a sword carried what looked to be an obsidian crossbow that was adorned with beautiful purple carvings.

This construct did not have a helmet and all you could see was a purple flame where the face should have been.

The bolt tip that was currently loaded into the crossbow also exuded the same purple mist that first construct's weapon had.

So that purple mist is probably some type of void essence or void coating into the weapon to make it deadlier...

Finally the third construct appeared, and contrary to the other two it held no weapon and it just looked like a robed figure.

I'm fairly certain this guy is a mage...

"Good job master, you accurately deducted the fighting types of all three constructs before the fight started."

"Even so, I'll still explain."

"Training with these constructs will help you with one important aspect of fighting."

"Awareness."

"In a fight there are usually multiple types of combatants, and the most usual are these three."

"The close combatant is usually slower but stronger. The long range attacker is usually more nimble and faster but lacks the attack power of the close combatant. Finally the mage well, mages are usually more focused on spells, but when fighting multiple types of combatants at the same time, mages and long ranged combatants can be very annoying since they will be trying to hit you from a distance while you also engage on close combat with the other."

Void continued explaining, and finally it was time to start.

"Good luck master. You'll need it."

Before Calux could react, his thigh was pierced by the crossbow construct, and boy did he feel pain.

"Fuck!"

The bolt directly passed through his thigh leaving a gaping whole that made him loose his balance.

Soon after, the close combatant moved and tried to slice him in half.

Calux pivoted, evaded and stood panting on his only good leg.

He quickly took out his sword out of storage, a beautiful katana suddenly manifested on Calux's hands.

He was a very good with the sword before activating his Sword Sovereign talent, so he wasn't scared about sword play with this construct, however having to watch out for spells and bolts at the same time was definitely annoying.

He decided to pivot and try to take out the crossbow construct first,

"Void Step!"

Suddenly, he crossed through a four meter gap and stood a few feet away from the crossbow construct and he decisively struck.

"Void Slash!"

The construct was instantly cut in half, but before he could even celebrate, he felt his body being attacked by what looked like small spheres that destroyed segments of his body.

In less than a second he was full of holes, and was on the ground screaming and full of pain.

Damn mage!

What attack even was that!

"Not bad master, at least you destroyed one construct before getting 'killed'."

Although the words sounded harsh, void was actually quite impressed by Calux's quick thinking of killing the crossbow construct first.

He just didn't take into account that the mage quickly pivoted before he had even killed the first construct.

I feel like master will improve his body quickly if he keeps getting hit so hard... Hehehe.

He chuckled internally.

Then, he snapped his fingers, and Calux's body started regenerating and returning to how it was before it was mangled by the mage and crossbow constructs.

"Let's continue.", said Void with a smile.

Calux on the other hand could only stiffen.

Gulp...

This is going to be a long four hours.
