Chapter 12 - Body Rank Up and Space Affinity

After four gruesome hours of getting mangled(training), Nyraxis went back to her beast space and Calux finally came out of the Void Palace.

After coming out, he noticed that bath was ready for him and dinner was at the table covered by a glass pane to avoid bugs and insects.

Thanks mom...

His mother was always understanding and thought ahead.

She knew that after a training session of eight hours, he would definitely want to eat and relax for a bit.

He decided to eat first and then go relax in the bath for an hour before going down to talk with his mother on how his training went and what he understood.

He quickly sat down, and started eating.

Etiquette be damned with how hungry he was, he had never felt this way before, but after so much training, this was to be expected.

Finishing up, he decided to head to the bath and relax for a bit.

Damn.. My body hurts like hell, but I definitely feel stronger, is that even possible in just a few hours?

He called for his status to see if there was any difference and he was pleasantly surprised.

Holy shit, my body rank went up in just four hours?!

Suddenly his daughter came out of her beast space, sat on his shoulder, curled her tail around his neck, and spoke.

"Father, you were beaten senseless for four hours with void attacks, and then put together with void mana. Your body was exposed to so much mana in both attacks and restoration, that of course it would go up in a rank."

Calux felt it made sense, especially considering the attacks were from beings a rank higher than him.

"It will get harder with every rank, as it is with your mana rank that requires more mana each time it ranks up, but with how things are going, I suspect you will definitely get to C- rank by the end of the deadline father!"

Nyraxis sounded and felt very excited, she had seen how her father had been mangled left and right, but looking at these results she felt it was definitely worth it, she would even volunteer to pounce on him if need be!

"I understand my cute empress.", he said, while patting her head lovingly.

Like this an hour passed, he went to speak with his mother who was extremely surprised at the fact that his body rank had gone up in that training session alone.

But after hearing how he had trained, she felt a pang in her heart. She didn't want her son to pass through such pain.

She didn't say anything about it, although she wanted to, because she understood that if he didn't do this, then it was going to be impossible for him to ascend like his father.

...

After a good night's sleep, Calux had breakfast with his mother and then went back to the Void Palace to start understanding space.

This time Void didn't give him any instructions, and let Calux ease into his affinity training on his own.

In the end, it was the same process for a different affinity, so he didn't feel the need to speak the same instructions twice, not that Calux needed it.

He sat down crosslegged, cleared his mind once again and focused.

This time however instead of focusing on the purple threads, he focused on the white ones.

He could feel as if the threads were in one place at one second, and then in another place the next, and then back where they started a second after that.

It was weird to even think about, it looked as if the threads were constantly teleporting back and forth.

What is space...

Is it locations?

No... That's too broad.

Space appears to be more methodical...

If I think about space mathematically, then....

Distance?

Yes I should use distance if I'm calculating a teleportation spell...

What else should I consider?

He thought for a second and then smacked his head.

My position of course!

So assuming I have my position and the distance I want to travel...

Say I want to go east, then I would need direction right?

Of course...

If I want to teleport using space, I would need to know my position, where I want to go and how far is the place where I want to go... Assuming that space sends me through a tunnel, I need to travel the correct distance to one place from another, else I end up in a volcano because I traveled two miles instead of two feet.

Okay but knowing this just helps me in understanding how I would use it in a skill...

What is space though...

Space was harder to understand than the void, because space has too many intricacies.

But the truth is, if you understand the void, you also understand space.

His eyes suddenly glowed in realization.

If Void is absence, then Space is existence, something like the opposite of the void..

If void is absence, then space is structure.

I got it!

If void is what remains when nothing exists, then space is what allows things to exist somewhere.

That is why, for void in theory if I just want to destroy, as long as I have the mana for it I can just collapse the space with the void, but for space if I want to achieve the same thing I would need position, distance, and direction.

This makes sense, if we use Void Steps as a topic of example, I can accurate determine that to travel using that skill, I have to know the distance to where I'm traveling to, from what position I am traveling from, and what the direction I'm traveling to, then using the void, I erase the distance of travel, and that is why although I'm teleporting using space, there is no space lock restriction.

What space lock is going to restrict me if I'm erasing the space between where I am traveling from and to?

His mind worked like a well oiled machine, using what he understood and using it to understand a skill once again, accurately pointing out the intricacies of how it worked.

Void on the side couldn't help but smile proudly.

This master of mine is certainly a little monster.

In just three hours, he has understood the basics of space and is already applying it to his skill once again.

He sighed in relief, knowing that training his master would be simple enough, and waited for the other hour to finish so they could continue with their body training.

Soon enough, an hour had gone by and Void spoke excitedly.

"Master, it's time for body training!"

Calux who was brought out of his thoughts felt a chill.

"Why do I feel like you like seeing me beaten to a pulp?"

He asked cautiously.

"Non sense master! I just want to help you train!", Void said smiling.

But that smile, it brought an indescribable chill towards Calux.

Gulp..

Soon, skills and screams were heard in the Void Palace, and in a corner a few hundred feet away, stood Nyraxis happily absorbing the mana in the air with her eyes closed.
